Facing the entry foyer, this expanded Upper West Side kitchen is organized around a highly efficient work triangle, with the island cooktop, undermount sink, and integrated refrigeration positioned for intuitive flow. Full-height inset cabinetry creates a calm, uninterrupted elevation, while hand-cut tile and quarter-sawn white oak floors introduce texture and warmth to the restrained palette.

Even a door can look nice!!! You can't see the little detail of the magnetic door ties downs but these little tie downs are intuitively designed to capture the shade when lowered, while still allowing the shade to tilt being fastened. Want to raise them up? Don't bend over and mess with little plastic tie downs. With a simple tug of the cord, stronger than normal operation, these shades gently release from the hold downs. Our clients love these!!! It is the little things in life!

Inspiration for an eclectic family room remodel in Minneapolis

Scott & Catherine Buley. High Tech Turf/LandscapeMakeover.biz. Our Rain Garden Nursery Vine Maple just planted and ready to leaf out. The design concept here was rather counter intuitive. This long strip close to the road was wet, so we installed a river-run rock walkway with drainage and an embedded tumbled stepping stone paver system. By using multiple materials in long strips, including recycled wood chips along the road, the multiple lengthy layers actually adds more '3-dimensionality' to this design, actually making it feel less close to the road. In addition, the light colored wood chips show road dust less, and contrast nicely with the hemlock. This results in less need to replenish or touch up the barkdust as frequently. 3 shrub form cisten plum in this area are just beginning to leaf out, and will add another "layer" of privacy near & opposite these windows as well.

A defining aspect of the Hearth Residence renovation was improving circulation throughout the main floor. The redesigned layout creates clear sight lines between the kitchen, living spaces, and adjacent circulation areas, allowing the home to feel more connected and intuitive to navigate. Rather than adding square footage, the project focused on interior architecture and space planning to improve flow, functionality, and daily living. Consistent material selections, integrated millwork, and carefully framed views help unify the home’s primary gathering spaces while supporting modern family life.

Plants and greenery are important in every room. They symbolize life and balance and anchor the room. The mirror above the plant serves several purposes, it helps reflect light around the room, by day with sunlight streaming through the doors, and at night by reflecting the glow of light from the lamps on the other side of the room. The mirror in white washed and wood continues the rustic/aged look. The intention of this design is to say: this coastal home has been loved and shared for generations here on the coast, making one forget that they've just walked into an apartment. Intuitively, this gives my client the feeling of being "settled and secure", helping her not feel as uneasy as one does when they move to a new home.
