All work was completed according to code requirements and successfully passed inspection. The final design provides a safe, modern, and functional bathroom space for long-term use.

Farmhouse Kitchen in Historic 1900's home. This project had it's challenges as the home age proved it would not be easy. The transformation from the old kitchen to the knew is nothing short of amazing. We removed walls to open the space to the rest of the home, as the dining room with the old wood burning stove and the large expanse of windows looking out to the wonderful garden like back yard added the much needed light and space to expand this kitchen into a real cooks kitchen.
This kitchens special features includes custom stain glass in the cabinetry doors and the window high above the sink. They were done by a local artist the homeowner had worked with previously. The custom niche tile is another touch of this home owners style, It shines through out this kitchen with all the details that were selected. From the old fashion porcelain handles to the vintage feel of the the faucets. In addition this kitchen has all the modern appliance needs to be a serious cooks haven. The island holds a prep sink, compost sink, microwave drawer , drawers hold bird seed, and popup electrical outlets. A bench seat next to the back door allows the homeowner to come in from gardening and remove gardening gear as there are hooks in the back of the seating area. The back splash has onyx panels that are back lighted to give unique ambiance at night. There is also a onyx panel up above the range hood, It cleverly hides a duct that need to be still have access too.
This homeowner was heavily involved in this process, she stained all the beams, did the painting and refinished all the wood work herself as she had done in this entire home.

Carter Fox Renovations was hired to do a complete renovation of this semi-detached home in the Gerrard-Coxwell neighbourhood of Toronto. The main floor was completely gutted and transformed - most of the interior walls and ceilings were removed, a large sliding door installed across the back, and a small powder room added. All the electrical and plumbing was updated and new herringbone hardwood installed throughout.
Upstairs, the bathroom was expanded by taking space from the adjoining bedroom. We added a second floor laundry and new hardwood throughout. The walls and ceiling were plaster repaired and painted, avoiding the time, expense and excessive creation of landfill involved in a total demolition.
The clients had a very clear picture of what they wanted, and the finished space is very liveable and beautifully showcases their style.

The client purchased a mature, small, NAPA Valley vineyard to be their home and for personal enjoyment.
Once they began converting their new "hobby" grapes into wine, they soon realized they needed a place to "age" their labors and a place to then enjoy them. They decided to design such a place within the confines of their home where they could entertain family and friends.
The structure was modified to allow storage of more than 200 individual bottles, cases, and magnum size bottles. A cask room was added as was a well-appointed tasting room. The storage area is separated from the tasting and social area by a tempered glass doors and windows. The space to be converted was a challenge. No surface was plumb or level, therefore, the remodel involved interior walls, new floors and ceilings.
Until these issues were addressed, the beautiful cabinet work, and a complete temperature and humidity control system to store, maintain, and enjoy the wine could not be started. The floors had to be floated out and chases with faux finishes provided for HVAC and electrical. Lighting in the tasting room is provided by a series of recessed and puck lights.
The bar/counter area is highlighted by a custom, Tiffany style chandelier. Enough space was left in front of the bar to accommodate two serving tables for food and snacks, with plenty of room to move about the space. Discreetly hidden behind the bar is a large capacity cooler that can chill several bottles at once.
The bar is capped with eight lineal feet of Calcutta Gold Marble and sports a brass foot rail. The bar has grape panels between Acanthus Corbels and the bottle storage cabinet areas are a unique blend of Acanthus overlays under precisely cut and mitered grape design crown molding over and around a cleverly designed bottle storage system.
Traffic flow is achieved through the multiple points of entry through any of three pairs of 6' custom double doors which, when weather permitting, can remain open while entertaining. The host and hostess can attend food and beverage service from behind and around the bar through a separate doorway.
The temperature controlled cask storage area is large enough for the clients' current needs, and can accommodate a larger number of casks should the need arise.
The floor and walls of the cask room are designed for easy maintenance.. Both rooms are delightfully decorated with earthen tone faux finishes on walls, ceilings and floors reminiscent of a nonspecific European wine making region.
This effect is extended to the soffits in the tasting room. A unique wine racking system is easily stored, providing even greater ability to maintain and move about the storage area.

The original tiled hearth was replaced by poured concrete with stone accents.
A queen sleeper sofa from Edgecomb provides additional sleeping. Fabrics and upholstery throughout the condo were selected for durability and cleanability.

Countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms are solid surface Corian Quartz (formerly called DuPont Zodiaq). Broadloom carpet is from Durkan. The first floor bedroom is Mona Vista pattern from Modesto Collection; all other carpet is Inviting Spaces pattern from Timeless Compositions. Walls are painted with Sherwin Williams 7647 Crushed Ice.
The main floor bedroom has a custom headboard mounted on a feature wall with plaid wallcovering. A freestanding vanity with undermount sink was added to the alcove area, creating space for a larger walk-in tiled shower with custom bench. On both levels, backlit mirrors highlight the sink areas. The upstairs bath has a blue tile feature wall and vessel sink.
A fiberglass bathtub surround was removed and replaced by a custom tiled shower. Vinyl wallcovering from D.L. Couch provides a focal point behind the king headboard in the loft bedroom. A twin sleeper chair adds an extra bed.

A key element of the renovation involved embracing energy-efficient design solutions to reduce its environmental impact and increase savings from reduced electric bills. Existing windows were replaced with energy-efficient fenestration, and when it came to selecting the opening glass wall systems for the kitchen, NanaWall Systems offered the ideal product. The SL60 folding window doors feature double and triple glazed glass options that maintain desired temperatures indoors while keeping extreme heat and cold outside. In addition, specialized seals provide superior humidity and water control from entering the home during inclement weather, creating comfortable indoor/outdoor living spaces year-round. As a NanaWall system, SL60 has been tested for air, water, structural, and forced entry with excellent results.

This new construction free-standing custom greenhouse and garage features a fully finished interior space with plenty of natural light, a storage loft, and added amenities like an electric kiln and EV charger. Siting this new building also involved a new graded landscape, driveway, and drainage.

Custom-built in the early eighties, this contemporary home was cloaked in all brown board siding with brown windows and a cumbersome street-facing carport. The current owners had raised their family there on property that borders serene conservation land. Now they were ready for a new, brighter exterior look that would include all new windows to take in the exquisite view, unobscured by the fog of failing window seals; new siding that wouldn’t be subject to woodpecker wear and tear; a refinished screen porch; a new garage to replace the undersized carport; and new entry access. On the interior, they wanted the new, fresh vibe to extend to the design of three renovated modern bathrooms.
In response, KHS proposed black-framed windows throughout in simpler configurations; fiber-cement (and PVC) exterior cladding in three textures to differentiate functions and features; a unifying light-gray and white palette teamed with clear-finished mahogany/sapele to carry across the exterior as well as the bathroom renovations; a stream-lined screen porch with cable rails; a new shed-roofed garage to resolve the exterior massing; and a new covered walkway entrance delivering those arriving into a repurposed interior space.
Once the overall design was resolved, the owners elected to complete the work in phases over several years. Phase 1 included renovating the powder room, guest bathroom, and primary bathroom, and refreshing the screen porch. See the reconceived modern bathrooms here on the KHS website. Next came constructing the new garage and entry, which on the interior included new floor tile and a new entry wall-paneling system to conceal electrical, solar, and security panels/controls. Phase III involved installing the rest of the new windows and completing the comprehensive new exterior cladding and palette to tie the earlier phases together. To cap it off, KHS worked with the owners to select new clean-lined furnishings for the living area in colors inspired by their coastal view.
