Barnett Design Build transformed part of a long, narrow sunroom into a much-needed mudroom for this 1920s home. Located right off of the driveway, this space has plenty of storage for coats, hats, and bags, as well as a place to sit and put on your shoes. An enclosed cabinet holds the vacuum and mops, keeping everything neat and in its place. Construction by MACSContracting of Bloomfield, NJ. Smart home technology by Total Home. Photo by Greg Martz.

This large mudroom neatly conceals all of this family's gear with the large custom built-in lockers/cabinets. The bench provides seating with open storage above and below. The wall color is Misty Memories by Benjamin Moore and the grey/blue tile hides dirt in this busy entryway.

A well-designed entry doubles as a unique and stylish storage area with multiple organization options.

Mudroom Cabinets were custom designed by Jessica McAllister of Kountry Kraft for a transitional style entryway in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. The cabinets are crafted in Penn Line style out of Red Oak wood and finished in Gray Wolf 25° stain color. Across the top and bottom of the cabinets are storage units for hats, gloves and shoes. Antique pewter hooks from Top Knobs provide the perfect place to hang coats and bags. This mudroom cabinet system also includes a bench for sitting while putting on your shoes. Mudroom cabinets help keep clutter the kitchen and living areas clean because they create a dedicated space for the items that are typically taken off and put on when entering or exiting the house.

An entry area to the home, this family laundry room became a catch-all for coats, bags and shoes. It also served as the laundry hub with a collection of portable drying racks, storage shelves and furniture that did not optimize the available space and layout. The new design made the most of the unique space and delivered an organized and attractive mud and laundry room with bench seating, hooks for hanging jackets and laundry needs, integrated wall drying racks, and lots of convenient storage.

A fun updated to a once dated basement. We renovated this client’s basement to be the perfect play area for their children as well as a chic gathering place for their friends and family. In order to accomplish this, we needed to ensure plenty of storage and seating. Some of the first elements we installed were large cabinets throughout the basement as well as a large banquette, perfect for hiding children’s toys as well as offering ample seating for their guests. Next, to brighten up the space in colors both children and adults would find pleasing, we added a textured blue accent wall and painted the cabinetry a pale green.
Upstairs, we renovated the bathroom to be a kid-friendly space by replacing the stand-up shower with a full bath. The natural stone wall adds warmth to the space and creates a visually pleasing contrast of design.
Lastly, we designed an organized and practical mudroom, creating a perfect place for the whole family to store jackets, shoes, backpacks, and purses.
Designed by Chi Renovation & Design who serve Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs, with an emphasis on the North Side and North Shore. You'll find their work from the Loop through Lincoln Park, Skokie, Wilmette, and all of the way up to Lake Forest.

Francesca called me, nearly 13 years ago, as she had seen one of our ads in the Orange County Living Magazine. In that particular ad, she fell in love with the mural work our artists had done for another home we designed in Huntington Beach, California. Although this was a newly built home in Portofira Estates neighborhood, in the city of Orange, both she and her husband knew they would eventually add to the existing square footage, making the family room and kitchen much bigger.
We proceeded with designing the house as her time frame and budget proceeded until we completed the entire home.
Then, about 5 years ago, Francesca and her husband decided to move forward with getting their expansion project underway. They moved the walls out in the family room and the kitchen area, creating more space. They also added a game room to the upstairs portion of their home. The results are spectacular!
This family room has a large angular sofa with a shaped wood frame. Two oversized chairs and ottomans on either side of the sofa to create a circular conversation and almost theatre like setting. A warm, wonderful color palette of deep plums, caramels, rich reds, burgundy, calming greens and accents of black make the entire home come together perfectly.
The entertainment center wraps the fireplace and nook shelving as it takes up the entire wall opposite the sofa. The window treatments consist of working balloon shades in a deep plum silk with valances in a rich gold silk featuring wrought iron rods running vertically through the fabric. The treatment frames the stunning panoramic view of all of Orange County.
