A home remodel allowed for a new hall bathroom including a window. Marble was used throughout on heated floors, shower walls and baseboard detail. Shades of blue unify the space including the strie wallpaper. The pull-out laundry hamper was an ask from the client to help keep dirty items off the bathroom floor.

This unique farmhouse kitchen is a throw-back to the simple yet elegant white 3x6 subway tile, glass cabinetry, and spacious 12 foot white quartz island. The subway tile has been extended into the interior cabinets, making the kitchen feel even lighter and brighter. With a farmhouse apron front sink and a 36" cooktop, this kitchen is a dreamy place to whip up some comfort food.

This small bathroom previously had a 3/4 shower. The bath was reconfigured to include a tub/shower combination. The square arch over the tub conceals a shower curtain rod. Extensive valley and mountain views inspired the siting of this simple L-shaped house that is anchored into the landscape. This shape forms an intimate courtyard with the sweeping views to the south. Looking back through the entry, glass walls frame the view of a significant mountain peak justifying the plan skew. The circulation is arranged along the courtyard in order that all the major spaces have access to the extensive valley views. A generous eight-foot overhang along the southern portion of the house allows for sun shading in the summer and passive solar gain during the harshest winter months. The open plan and generous window placement showcase views throughout the house. The living room is located in the southeast corner of the house and cantilevers into the landscape affording stunning panoramic views. Project Year: 2012

This kitchen, designed by Mel Elion, is on display in Bilotta’s Mamaroneck showroom, their headquarters since 1985. It features an inset cabinet in a white paint except for the bar area which is cherry with a stain. The cabinetry is all by Signature Custom Cabinetry. The backsplash is by Artistic Tile – their Coltrane Cream Jazz Glass on the range and sink wall and Foliage Mosaic in Coltrane Cream for the bar area. Perimeter countertops are Taj Mahal and the island is Brazilian Cherry. The sink and faucet are by Franke and appliances are by Viking and Viking Pro. The floor is a reclaimed wood, from Rye Ridge Tile and the wallpaper a recycled grass cloth. All accessories are by Michael Aram. Photographer: Peter Rymwid
