One of A Direct's designers, Ted, partnered up with Anne Surchin, Architect on this Southold, NY kitchen renovation. As you can see, the outcome was just beautiful. We love that this kitchen design gives the customer functional, designated working areas. Instead of focusing on the "kitchen triangle," kitchen designers have been focusing on creating functional work zones. With this kitchen, we've done just that! The "cooking zone" has ample counter top space and is completely separate from the "sink/ washing zone." This allows the chef to be interrupted, while others are getting a jump on dishes. On top of a plethora amount of cabinet storage, and two glass display cabinets, this kitchen truly has it all!

This classic formal design focuses on the rear wall. The wall is a beautifully proportioned multi-height wall, faced in Leuder limestone. As the stonewalls gracefully stair step down, shorter columns serve as the base to four Frank Lloyd Wright inspired cast stone bowls.

On this project, Equine Facility Design used the conceptual drawings created by Owen Homes to complete this 8,000 square foot 12 stall horse barn design. The project includes a 150' x 300' outdoor riding horse arena design, mechanical exerciser, and layout of paddocks on this 11 acre site.

We were asked to help transform a cluttered, half-finished common area to an organized, multi-functional homework/play/lounge space for this family of six. They were so pleased with the desk setup for the kids, that we created a similar workspace for their office. In the midst of designing these living areas, they had a leak in their kitchen, so we jumped at the opportunity to give them a brand new one. This project was a true collaboration between owner and designer, as it was done completely remotely.

Imagine this gorgeous private sanctuary in your backyard. This concrete pool with spa is the perfect escape for the weekend. Imagine yourself napping in this gorgeous hammock or jumping into the deep blue water from the granite diving rock. Perennial gardens makes this backyard retreat low maintenance so that you can just enjoy!

This project began right after the homeowners moved in. The only furnishings re-used were the beautiful rugs collected over time and travels. The goal was to create a welcoming space for family and friends to gather. We used the rugs as a jumping off point, choosing colourful fabrics and themes that reflect a global aesthetic. Living Room tables were carefully chosen to be individual pieces while allowing the rug to show through. The custom wall unit was designed by Teresa for the homeowners' many books and collectibles as well as the TV, and was built by Ian Schroeder of Forest Hill Woodwork and Cabinetry. Benches were added under the windows to maximize seating for larger gatherings.

When our client asked us to modernize his childhood home, and make this old four square into a happy, open-concept summer getaway, we jumped at the chance! The red armchair on the landing adds a surprise element of additional color, the custom runner on the stairs reinforces the casual, welcoming vibe of the home, and of course the funky fish artwork says we're at our beach cottage and having fun!

This 1990's home, located in North Vancouver's Lynn Valley neighbourhood, had high ceilings and a great open plan layout but the decor was straight out of the 90's complete with sponge painted walls in dark earth tones. The owners, a young professional couple, enlisted our help to take it from dated and dreary to modern and bright. We started by removing details like chair rails and crown mouldings, that did not suit the modern architectural lines of the home. We replaced the heavily worn wood floors with a new high end, light coloured, wood-look laminate that will withstand the wear and tear from their two energetic golden retrievers. Since the main living space is completely open plan it was important that we work with simple consistent finishes for a clean modern look. The all white kitchen features flat doors with minimal hardware and a solid surface marble-look countertop and backsplash. We modernized all of the lighting and updated the bathrooms and master bedroom as well. The only departure from our clean modern scheme is found in the dressing room where the client was looking for a more dressed up feminine feel but we kept a thread of grey consistent even in this more vivid colour scheme. This transformation, featuring the clients' gorgeous original artwork and new custom designed furnishings is admittedly one of our favourite projects to date!
