Michael built our current home for us, and it was a great experience from start to finish. Michael's attention to detail in both design and energy efficiency ranks him among the best builders. We have double framed walls, insulated electrical outlets, an excellent blow door test result, wood beams, detailed door molding, and much more. He was fun to work with, open to ideas and and he offered ideas for us to consider. I would highly recommend Woodcraft Building!

Michael Scannell of Woodcraft Building built our Craftsman style home in 2011. We have lived in it for 2 1/2 years now and are still delighted with the innovative design, the many "green features" and the quality of workmanship. Green features include bamboo floors, double studded walls with heavy insulation, low e windows, solar hot water heating, a heat pump with a ductless heating/air conditioning system, a heat recovery ventilation system, low flow water systems, and a solar powered light in the master bath. Michael Scannell pays attention to details, including the solar orientation, so that we have light thoughout the house all day. Any issues are resolved promptly and completely. Michael also designed and built a wall bed and a work table that folds against the wall, enabling us to use one of the three bedrooms as a craft room/guest room. He designed and built the beautiful components and they work flawlessly. He also added custom closets to our specifications and took advantage of the space under the hearth by building in drawers. I have no hesitation recommending Michael's homes to my friends and family and if I were in the market for another new home in the Bend area I would hire Michael. Marie Suhre

We hired Michael Scannell, owner of Woodcraft Building Inc., in 2013 to build our custom home in Bend Oregon. After interviewing several builders we selected Michael for his extensive capabilities in building an energy efficient and “tight” house, as well as his willingness to work with us. He was very enthusiastic about building energy efficient houses. He is a stickler for details, which paid off in energy savings, and was able to work with us throughout the whole process. This last part was very important to us, as this was our third custom home and we had formed some very strong visions concerning this one. The end product was a beautifully finished, amazingly comfortable, modern style home, which received the Platinum rating, the highest given, from EarthAdvantage home energy certification. Michael maintained good relations with us, despite our in depth involvement, and was able to hire and keep skilled craftsmen as subs, throughout the project. Near the end of the project, Greg Larson joined the company. Greg is directed and clear, he can field and constructively address issues as they arise. He is a great asset to the team at WoodCraft Building Inc. Our Project had many challenging design details to it (see the photos on Houzz.com under Architect Erik Oldham, Shevlin Residence), none the less, it was completed in 8 months. This seems to be a rare occurrence in our cold climate. We recommend Woodcraft Building Inc.
