One of the focal points is the custom-designed checkout counter, featuring a striking porcelain slab that embodies everything Don Fuego stands for: fire, intensity, and individuality. The moment we saw it, we knew it was destined for this space. Design is all about the details, and Don Fuego is no exception. From late-night idea exchanges to meticulous material selections, every element was chosen with intention. We introduced texture through limewash, mimicking the organic feel of a grave, and Roman clay, sculpted into arches reminiscent of traditional Mexican architecture. Lighting is the jewelry of a space, and in Don Fuego, it sets the mood. We layered task, decorative, ambient, and accent lighting to create an immersive atmosphere. One of our favorite details? A light fixture inspired by the cascarón, a cracked egg symbolizing good luck and prosperity in Mexican culture. There are so many details and sensations to every elements in the space. The custom dining table was fabricated by AAHLLC after many months of exploration. The round dining table can accommodate a small gathering at 66" and perimeter leaves attach for a maximum of 88" diameter for larger gatherings. Decorative brass rings at the legs add an unexpected jewelry to the base. A mixture of two fabrics dress a refurbished Restoration Hardware chair; the exterior fabric is a digital velvet print. This long hall is a transition area between the newly beefed-up entryway and the family room at the rear of the house. A thread of teal accents now leads from one to the other, with points of interest highlighted along the way. Gray is the perfect fit for the growing trend of Transitional design. The washed look and character of Peppercorn cherry paired with our Boardwalk door style creates a naturally calm and simple space. Designing with consistent horizontal sight lines, linear crown and a blended color palette are a few of the key elements to create a Transitional haven. There are a small number of cities in the world where luxury and lifestyle enthusiasts would aim to live. One of them is Dubai, a realm of high end living, glamour and complexity. Possessing a luxury address in this culturally rich city is for sure a exceptional treat. For those of you who can actually afford one, this penthouse which is Signature Stagers’ end of the year work of art is a very engaging proposal. This penthouse we staged at the start of November 2015 has been lingering on the market for about 2 years prior to our meeting the owner. It is located in the exclusive Dubai Marina district among a few other select buildings and is currently for sale with Verzun on a POA (Price on application) basis due to its unique stature and lifestyle element which removes it from the “square foot” mentality and elevates it from its competition within the same building. The penthouse was renovated prior to staging, and the apartment itself displays a fresh and modern look whilst keeping its classic and initial fit out and design. Although a few key elements of the penthouse’s original architecture were retained, this neo-classical approach we decided on contributed to the dwellings select and sophisticated appeal numerous novel and sharply modern features which are also present around the residence, thus safeguarding its uniqueness and extremely fascinating form. Designing with consistent horizontal sight lines, linear crown and a blended color palette are a few of the key elements to create a Transitional haven. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… A returning client wished to create an office environment that would refuel his childhood and current passion: Star Wars. Creating exhibit-style surroundings to incorporate iconic elements from the epic franchise was key to the success for this home office. A life-sized statue of Harrison Ford’s character Han Solo, a longstanding piece of the homeowner’s collection, is now featured in a custom glass display case is the room’s focal point. The glowing backlit pattern behind the statue is a reference to the floor design shown in the scene featuring Han being frozen in carbonite. The command center is surrounded by iconic patterns custom-designed in backlit laser-cut metal panels. The exquisite millwork around the room was refinished, and porcelain floor slabs were cut in a pattern to resemble the chess table found on the legendary spaceship Millennium Falcon. A metal-clad fireplace with a hidden television mounting system, an iridescent ceiling treatment, wall coverings designed to add depth, a custom-designed desk made by a local artist, and an Italian rocker chair that appears to be from a galaxy, far, far, away... are all design elements that complete this once-in-a-galaxy home office that would make any Jedi proud. We transformed a basic wall into a shutter wall using restored New Orleans shutters, some from Katrina destroyed homes and other antique shutters from around the city. The shutters were then enhanced using shades of white, cream and grey with different level of distressing and aging. An antique buffet was transformed to an eye catching silver, gold and pewter metallic piece. Above the buffet is a custom made 4 ' x 6 ' oyster shell mirror. Upon entering the home your eye is drawn to this wall as it POPS! The "tiara", our icing on the cake, is the large vintage chandelier. Details are always the key in all of our designs. We combined an antique dining table with vintage chairs that were chalk painted. We upholstered the chairs in a pretty light mint fabric with a french outdoor patio scene. An gorgeous mahogany antique buffet was transformed to an eye catching silver, gold and pewter metallic piece. Above the buffet is a custom made 4 ' x 6 ' oyster shell mirror which adds the UNIQUE to this space once your eye moves from the STATEMENT SHUTTER WALL. Upon entering the home your eye is drawn to this wall and the oyster mirror as it simply, POPS! The "tiara", our icing on the cake, is the large vintage chandelier. The vintage "tiara" or chandelier was luckily grabbed at a local estate sale and transformed and rePURPOSED into a silver and gold beauty adorned with 6" antique crystals. The objective was to create a warm neutral space to later customize to a specific colour palate/preference of the end user for this new construction home being built to sell. A high-end contemporary feel was requested to attract buyers in the area. An impressive kitchen that exuded high class and made an impact on guests as they entered the home, without being overbearing. The space offers an appealing open floorplan conducive to entertaining with indoor-outdoor flow. Due to the spec nature of this house, the home had to remain appealing to the builder, while keeping a broad audience of potential buyers in mind. The challenge lay in creating a unique look, with visually interesting materials and finishes, while not being so unique that potential owners couldn’t envision making it their own. The focus on key elements elevates the look, while other features blend and offer support to these striking components. As the home was built for sale, profitability was important; materials were sourced at best value, while retaining high-end appeal. Adaptations to the home’s original design plan improve flow and usability within the kitchen-greatroom. The client desired a rich dark finish. The chosen colours tie the kitchen to the rest of the home (creating unity as combination, colours and materials, is repeated throughout). Photos- Paul Grdina
