This early 90's contemporary home was in need of some major updates and when my clients purchased it they were ready to make it their own. The home features large open rooms, great natural light and stunning views of Lake Washington. These clients love bold vibrant colors and clean modern lines so the goal was to incorporate those in the design without it overwhelming the space. Balance was key. The end goal was for the home to feel open and airy yet warm and inviting. This was achieved by bringing in punches of color to an otherwise white or neutral palate. Texture and visual interest were achieved throughout the house through the use of wallpaper, fabrics, and a few one of a kind artworks.

The home had gone through an extensive renovation several years earlier that added a master bedroom suite and updates to the front façade. The kitchen however was not part of that update and a prior 1990’s update had left much to be desired. The client is an avid cook, and it was just not very functional for the family. The original kitchen was very choppy and included a large eat in area that took up more than its fair share of the space. On the wish list was a place where the family could comfortably congregate, that was easy and to cook in, that feels lived in and in check with the rest of the home’s décor. They also wanted a space that was not cluttered and dark – a happy, light and airy room. A small powder room off the space also needed some attention so we set out to include that in the remodel as well. See that arch in the neighboring dining room? The homeowner really wanted to make the opening to the dining room an arch to match, so we incorporated that into the design. Another unfortunate eyesore was the state of the ceiling and soffits. Turns out it was just a series of shortcuts from the prior renovation, and we were surprised and delighted that we were easily able to flatten out almost the entire ceiling with a couple of little reworks. Other changes we made were to add new windows that were appropriate to the new design, which included moving the sink window over slightly to give the work zone more breathing room. We also adjusted the height of the windows in what was previously the eat-in area that were too low for a countertop to work. We tried to keep an old island in the plan since it was a well-loved vintage find, but the tradeoff for the function of the new island was not worth it in the end. We hope the old found a new home, perhaps as a potting table. This kitchen features Fieldstone Custom Cabinetry in the Stratford door style with a clean white finish. There are stacked cabinets that reach the tray ceiling with clear glass fronts ion the upper level. The backsplash features the 3x6 ceramic subway tile in Grigio from Cancos' Whisper line. Kohler fixtures were used, including the Whitehaven apron front sink and the Artifacts kitchen & prep faucets. A filtered hot-cold water dispenser from Insinkerator was also chosed to complement the faucets. Hardware, including cup pulls, is from Top Knobs' Somerset Weston line in Antique Pewter. The Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Basko appliances were paneled and installed with the flush-inset approach, to keep a streamlined look with the cabinets. A rectangular island includes a prep sink and double-ogee edge treatment on Silestone's Cygnus color. The decorative wood hood from Stanici delivers a focal point with beautiful curved lines, found also above & below the refrigerator and the shape of the cup pulls. A hill country farmhouse at 3,181 square feet and situated in the Texas hill country of New Braunfels, in the neighborhood of Copper Ridge, with only a fifteen minute drive north to Canyon Lake. Three key features to the exterior are the use of board and batten walls, reclaimed brick, and exposed rafter tails. On the inside it’s the wood beams, reclaimed wood wallboards, and tile wall accents that catch the eye around every corner of this three-bedroom home. Windows across each side flood the large kitchen and great room with natural light, offering magnificent views out both the front and the back of the home.

This home is constructed in the world famous neighborhood of Lido Shores in Sarasota, Fl. The home features a flipped layout with a front court pool and a rear loading garage. Our Music Lounge is located on the second floor of a stunning 100+ year-old Tudor-style residence in Hartford, CT—part of the 2025 Junior League of Hartford Designer Show House. When designing the space, we set out to celebrate Connecticut-based female artists. The room began with two key elements: a leafy, organic grasscloth wallpaper by Goshen artist Sarah Von Dreele, and an original painting titled Torch Singer by West Hartford’s Sandy Welch. Sandy’s portrait became the driving inspiration behind the color palette and the mood of the room. The woman in the painting feels completely at ease—confident, expressive, and immersed in the music. We envisioned a well-traveled couple living here, wanting this space to evoke a cozy Parisian café tucked within their historic home—a moody, romantic retreat layered with stories. Most evenings, we imagine them here, unwinding to vintage records on the gramophone, sipping bourbon hot toddies by candlelight, and dreaming up their next overseas adventure. The room is intimate, eclectic, and richly layered—evoking nostalgia, warmth, and quiet indulgence. If cigarettes were still in fashion, this would be the room to lean back, light up, and lose track of time.

You’ll find flowers, tomatoes, spinach, herbs and other vegetation growing year round. In front of the cement planters, you’ll find about 25 meters (80ft) of cement walkways to step on during rainy season. In fact, you can maneuver nearly all around the back and sides of the house, work in the cement planters and not get your feet muddy. A custom water drainage system was designed and installed for this property. It routes most rain water from the roof to the roadside drainage system. It works very well. Out and about in the backyard, you’ll find some young fruit trees to include guanabana, (2) limón, melocotón, mangustin, and fig. We also have several active guandu bushes (pigeon peas) to add to your rice or feed your parrot. You’ll also find a small moringa tree, along with some eucalyptus, salvia, and artemisa bushes. The property has been maintained by the same gardener for over 7 years.

Our client wanted an open concept space in a long narrow home that left original textures and details untouched. A brick wall was exposed as a walnut kitchen and industrial style floor-to-ceiling glazing were added. The enormous island and brass light fixture from Lindsey Adelman are key features.
