The client of this beautiful kitchen remodel was a true chef! She requested a hefty list of pro-style appliances along with functional and durable finishes. An industrial, modern and edgy design was achieved in the finishes and materials selected- allowing the client's colorful Alebrije collection from Oaxca, Mexico to be celebrated! The large central island, finished in Dekton Aura, has the combined functions of seating for 4, food preparation, and display during the cooking presentations the client puts on in her home. The subtle gray tones of Dekton Sirocco on the kitchen's perimeter provides a beautiful and durable surface for washing & prepping at the 7' Galley Sink or cooking at the 48" Pro Gas Wolf Range. Cabinetry by Crystal is finished in a combination of matte grey laminate with aluminum color edge banding & pearl back painted glass. New custom cabinetry in an off-white finish offer storage galore. Hand made zellige tiles provide a pop of color in this otherwise neutral kitchen. New European range and hood provide a handsome focal point. Rectangle island with marble top is home to an undermount sink, dishwasher, trash bin, seating as well as extra storage. New panel-ready refrigerator and coffee station complete this classic look.

The owners goal with their homes kitchen, completed in 2017, was to emphasize the beautiful lake views and have a space that was open to a large family room and casual dining area. This contemporary kitchen combines convenience and function with hidden small appliances including a coffee station, toaster oven, microwave, to avoid cluttered countertops ensuring a clean look. The cooking area features an induction cooktop, mixer and a full quartz backsplash, as well as a hidden ventilation and lighting system in the soffit. A focal point is the large island which provides ample seating while leaving plenty of room for cooking and baking. Quartz was chosen for its beauty, durability, and ease of maintenance. The cabinetry features an integrated refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher which complete the clean, uncluttered look. The kitchen also features two openings to the formal dining room providing easy flow and access for entertaining.

In this contemporary kitchen we combined cabinets in two finishes: glossy light grey acrylic and textured melamine with vertical wood grain. The open concept kitchen has a long island with a raised area that hides the 5' Galley sink. The casual island seating is conveniently located close to the refrigerator and the drawer style microwave hidden in the island. The two ovens are tucked under the counter on the two sides of the cook top, making this kitchen layout very practical for kosher cooking. For under cabinetry lights and accents we used LED strip lights and LED puck lights.

This kitchen is home to two taller individuals who both use the space equally and requested a taller workspace to comfortably accommodate their needs. The island cabinets are standard 34-1/2” tall but the Iceberg countertops were installed with a 3” build-up to add height to the island. Cabinets on the long wall were designed to break up the wall of white: buffet on the end with walnut-framed glass cabinets and seashell backsplash; double refrigerators in a painted, distressed mahogany finish were pulled forward to simulate texture and depth on the wall; wide pantry cabinets with roll-out drawers sitting on the countertops flank the refrigerators. On the opposite wall, a new window box at the kitchen sink was built to add more countertop behind the sink and to let in more light, adding dimension to the room. The cabinetry in the original existing kitchen was disjointed at the dining room entrance and made the room appear much smaller than it really was. To remedy this, the entry to the dining room from the kitchen was closed up and relocated around the corner from the foyer; 2 simple, stacked columns were built to highlight the new opening. These transitional style columns and wider room openings at the family room and dining room entrances provide an open layout suitable for large groups to mingle comfortably; family room cabinetry and dining room fireplace surround matches kitchen cabinets.

The inspiration for this Glebe kitchen was the white washed interiors synonymous with Scandinavian design. Planning the spaces of the kitchen was something that was broken into 5 key areas; cooking station, cleaning area, coffee bar, place for casual family dining and lastly a nook to sit with a great book that was still integrated in the kitchen.
