The existing U-shaped kitchen was tucked away in a small corner while the dining table was swimming in a room much too large for its size. The client’s needs and the architecture of the home made it apparent that the perfect design solution for the home was to swap the spaces. The homeowners entertain frequently and wanted the new layout to accommodate a lot of counter seating, a bar/buffet for serving hors d’oeuvres, an island with prep sink, and all new appliances. They had a strong preference that the hood be a focal point and wanted to go beyond a typical white color scheme even though they wanted white cabinets. While moving the kitchen to the dining space gave us a generous amount of real estate to work with, two of the exterior walls are occupied with full-height glass creating a challenge how best to fulfill their wish list. We used one available wall for the needed tall appliances, taking advantage of its height to create the hood as a focal point. We opted for both a peninsula and island instead of one large island in order to maximize the seating requirements and create a barrier when entertaining so guests do not flow directly into the work area of the kitchen. This also made it possible to add a second sink as requested. Lastly, the peninsula sets up a well-defined path to the new dining room without feeling like you are walking through the kitchen. We used the remaining fourth wall for the bar/buffet. Black cabinetry adds strong contrast in several areas of the new kitchen. Wire mesh wall cabinet doors at the bar and gold accents on the hardware, light fixtures, faucets and furniture add further drama to the concept. The focal point is definitely the black hood, looking both dramatic and cohesive at the same time.

This was a whole house remodel, the owners are more transitional in style, and they had a lot of special requests including the suspended bar seats on the bar, as well as the geometric circles that were custom to their space. The doors, moulding, trim work and bar are all completely custom to their aesthetic interests. We tore out a lot of walls to make the kitchen and living space a more open floor plan for easier communication, The hidden bar is to the right of the kitchen, replacing the previous closet pantry that we tore down and replaced with a framed wall, that allowed us to create a hidden bar (hidden from the living room) complete with a tall wine cooler on the end of the island. This white kitchen is grounded by the dark espresso island. Carrara marble island with wine storage on the side create a beautiful contrast to the white cabinets with the silestone grey countertops and herringbone backsplash tile. This kithchen renovation included the removal of a load bearing wall to open it up and make it feel bright and airy.

John & Jan's kitchen was a small white kitchen that filled about a third of the screen you are looking at. This didn't work for them with the amount of children and grandchildren running around. We named their island the last supper island for the sheer length of it!

The steel and wood cable railing adds a modern aesthetic to this traditional New England colonial home. An extra-long built-in bench, with a custom “stay in place” cushion, spans beyond the length of the wall. This bench area is one of our favorite features, with a generous storage cabinet for placemats and homework supplies on one end and extra seating on the other. A streamlined linear LED pendant provides clean light over a concrete kitchen table. The contemporary custom media center, with glass display shelving and plenty of storage, floats in the family room behind kitchen.

DuraSupreme Cabinetry This timeless and classic kitchen informed the main living and lower level renovation with white and grey as the palette, and sophisticated details at every turn. Stylized shaker cabinetry took the cabinets to a new level with chrome hardware, soft close doors, and modern appliances that make it a dream kitchen for any cook. By knocking down the existing dining room wall, the kitchen expanded graciously and now includes a large seated island treated with furniture-like details in a soft dark grey. The white and grey tones play beautifully off the warm hand scraped wood floor that runs throughout the main level, providing a warmth underfoot. Openings were widened to allow for a more open floor plan and an extra wide barn door adds style to the front entrance. Additional dining was added to the former dining room as a breakfast nook complete with storage bench seating. A wine bar is tucked into a corner next to the living area allowing for easy access when entertaining. dRemodeling also built in a custom bookshelf/entertainment area as well as a new mantle and tile surround. The upstairs closet was removed to allow for a larger foyer. The lower level features a newly organized laundry room that is wrapped in traditional wainscoting along one wall and the ceiling. New doors, windows, register cover, and light switch covers were installed to give the space a total and complete makeover, down to the smallest detail. www.dremodeling.com

This Wauwatosa Georgian Colonial home was in need of a kitchen remodel to that stayed true to the style of the home while blending in with the other recent updates made to the home. The previous kitchen had a broken stove, inefficient storage, high maintenance finishes, and lacked the simplicity that the clients wanted. Now after the remodel there is improved circulation into the dinette for entertaining family and friends. Lighting was vastly improved and now highlights the coffered ceiling, subway tile backsplash, and cabinetry. The clean look of the full overlay white Plato cabinetry allows for a contrast with the Verde Peacock Lite granite countertops. A 36″ Thermador cooktop and GE appliances provide for an updated stainless look and a kitchen ready for cooking. The Ebony stained maple hardwood flooring adds the final soft touch for an updated kitchen in 2015.

This kitchen features a deep drawer with a roll-out drawer. The homeowner uses the thin roll-out for storing baking sheets, pans, and muffin tins and the deep drawer below for storage for mixing bowls, strainers, colanders, and other larger baking and food prep supplies. This white-on-white kitchen design has a transitional style and incorporates beautiful clean lines. It features a Personal Paint Match finish on the Kitchen Island matched to Sherwin-Williams "Threshold Taupe" SW7501 and a mix of light tan paint and vibrant orange décor. These colors really pop out on the “white canvas” of this design. The designer chose a beautiful combination of white Dura Supreme cabinetry (in "Classic White" paint), white subway tile backsplash, white countertops, white trim, and a white sink. The built-in breakfast nook (L-shaped banquette bench seating) attached to the kitchen island was the perfect choice to give this kitchen seating for entertaining and a kitchen island that will still have free counter space while the homeowner entertains. Although the home is in its 100th year, the owners wanted to create an updated urban style reflective of their downtown location. The new styling, while sleek and contemporary, kept a traditional feel with a paneled door styling, crystal chandeliers and an updated glass version of subway tile.
