The cabinets were custom designed by Tom, with straight, simple lines, and custom built by Draper DBS of walnut, with a deep, rich brown finish. The richness of the dark cabinetry juxtaposed with the elegance of the white carrara marble on the countertop, wall and floors contributes to the room's sophistication. Ample storage is found in the large vanity and an armoire style cabinet, designed to mimic a free-standing furniture piece, that is positioned behind the door. Architectural beams placed across the vaulted ceiling bring a sense of scale to the room and invite natural light in through the skylight.

Alcove shower - large traditional master blue tile alcove shower idea in San Francisco with an undermount tub and a hinged shower door

The goal of this master bath transformation was to stay within existing footprint and improve the look, storage and functionality of the master bath. Right Wall: Along the right wall, designers gain footage and enlarge both the shower and water closet by replacing the existing tub and outdated surround with a freestanding Roman soaking tub. They use glass shower walls so natural light can illuminate the formerly dark, enclosed corner shower. From the footage gained from the tub area, designers add a toiletry closet in the water closet. They integrate the room's trim and window's valance to conceal a dropdown privacy shade over the leaded glass window behind the tub. Left Wall: A sink area originally located along the back wall is reconfigured into a symmetrical double-sink vanity along the left wall. Both sink mirrors are flanked by shelves of storage hidden behind tall, slender doors that are configured in the vanity to mimic columns. Back Wall: The back wall unit is built for storage and display, plus it houses a television that intentionally blends into the deep coloration of the millwork. The positioning of the television allows it to be watched from multiple vantage points – even from the shower. An under counter refrigerator is located in the lower left portion of unit. Vintage Tub & Bath supplied the farmhouse sink and brass bridge faucet. The window was recreated from vintage sashes found at Pasadena Architectural Salvage, which also supplied the brass cabinet hardware. Cabinets by Fernando's Building Materials in Cypress Park area of Los Angeles. Custom stain finish in Charcoal Blue.

Bringing the inside out; The wide front porch eases the transition from outside to inside, creating an almost room-like feel. The Mohrman's play up this concept by incorporating a variety of furnishings including a former kitchen chair repainted gloss black. String lighting imbues summer evenings with a warm incandescent glow. A colorful array of pillows adorn the swing on the front porch, making for a comfortable place to relax on balmy days. A custom tile layout was designed for this alcove bath. Subway sized tiles installed vertically at the lower section amplify the height of the space in neutral shades of tan, gray and beige. The spa glass mosaic tile is framed with a white pencil edge creating a horizontal accent band. It's framed again with a picture frame mitred corner detail around the recessed niches. Polished chrome fixtures by Kohler with a slide bar and a flip-side hand held spray make this shower perfect for the whole family regardless of their height. The oversize air tub is extra deep so a grab bar was installed at an angle. An arched shower curtain rod was selected in lieu of glass doors to create a more open feeling while soaking in the air-jet tub. Delicious Kitchens & Interiors, LLC
