Yes, that is what I am struggling with. We did 12x24 white carrara tiles, and it is a large teenager bathroom, and I was thinking if the grout is more present, it would create more of a pattern and more playful, than appear as a large marble slab and formal. Was looking at Custom grout, either the snow white or the bright white.

  • PRO

Makes sense, since you just edging up the grout shade but not going high contrast, I think that would work well.

Hello. Certainly, in a bathroom, the best choice is a paper that is resistant to moisture. If you Google "water proof wallpapers" you'll find MANY choices!

Thank you for your comments. This bathroom is a symphony of textures. The wall behind the vanity is covered in wall paper, not a tile, though it is hard to detect that in the photo. The threads and irregularity inherent in grass cloth are in play here, adding dimension and warmth. And yes, we work in Florida -- quite a bit. We'll be there at the end of the month installing the final phase -- furniture and accessories -- in a residence we helped build at the Floridian in Palm City.

Hi, the toilet paper holder is mounted on the side of the vanity, into the wood. Wood provides stability and resists loosening due to the tugging that is inherent when the product is used.

Hi, if need be our products can be offered with glass mountings in the event the toilet is closer to your glass panel. The only requirement is that the glass would have to be drilled with a single hole prior to it being tempered. We have offered this on small home projects as well as large hotel projects. Below is an example of our towel bar that is mounting to the glass panel.

Hello. We have not experienced issues with this cabinet design. When you remove the wooden storage inserts, there is enough room between the bottom, open shelving and the lowest drawers for a plumber's head and arms to fit and maneuver around the pipes, if ever there is a need. The drawers directly in front of the plumbing fixtures are either very shallow or false (dummy) drawers, so you have no interference there. Plumbing issues, if any, tend to occur in the drain trap, and access to that mechanism is pretty direct.

  • muddy04

Thank you so much for your response! Love this look and hope to incorporate it into my design somehow.

The designer that orchestrated this bathroom is on a construction site in Florida all week, so I won't have her confirmation on the details until Monday, but the shutters on this door do appear to be custom, as they are seamlessly integrated into the structure. Originally, they came from The Tile Market of Stuart and Palm Beach. If they no longer have harlequin's in their inventory, you should be able to locate them online, just email or take this picture with you to a local vendor -- the sales rep should know what to do!

Hi Maureen, The custom vanity is 68 1/2" long and 25" deep. The mirror should sit within the footprint of your vanity, so for this one, it's about 68" long. It can extend to the ceiling as far (high) as you desire. We gave it about 18" of space, so the wall treatment would show.

Typically, PH designers would terminate the baseboard into the cabinet. They would not continue the baseboard, as it hidden by the unit, in a zone you don't easily see, unless you drop an earring or coin, and have to do some "on-your-knees" exploring. That said, you certainly can continue the baseboard, and have the cabinetmaker make the proper allowances (cutouts) to insure a snug fit against the wall.

The under mount sink is by Kohler. It is an Archer vitreous china sink and is 17 5/8 x 13 x 7 1/2. The upper center drawer is not functional -- just aesthetically pleasing -- as it would encroach on the sink, but the lower drawer (with a custom cabinet, which this is,) can go either way -- either not function or be a shallow "partial" drawer. The configuration of the sinks' drain and associated plumbing elements are the determining factor.

If the shower is already existing, you can search online for various tile stores that might be able to provide some that will match your tile.

Hi! The drawers to this vanity are all custom-made by a cabinet shop in Florida close to where this residence was constructed. The width and depth of the drawers in units vary, as all spaces are different. The goal is to comfortably fill the space while allowing adequate space for the door swing(s) and walking. The handles are called drawer pulls as opposed to knobs. You can find them almost anywhere, from Home Depot to the fanciest hardware vendor. They impart a sleek look. If you Google "long drawer pulls" you will find a variety to choose from.
