As the leaves are falling and the temperatures are dropping, we have been busy contributing to the kitchen renovation of a two-story Lakeville home. The homeowners wanted to remove the kitchen’s peninsula to help prevent it from breaking up the space. Instead they wanted one large gathering area, increased storage, and seating for up to six, without needing to rely on the dining room table. To help remedy the family’s storage woes, we added five feet of beautiful pantry space. In addition, we installed a small entertainment center. The homeowners added style and warmth to the kitchen with a combination of great colors and unique textures. The family chose the Chesapeake style door in a cherry cayenne finish. To compliment their cabinet choices, we installed Cambria countertops in the Canterbury design. The end result was a warm and inviting room much better suited to the family’s needs!

The unique design of this lake home and the surrounding natural landscape complement each other perfectly, resulting in beautiful lake views and a spacious, comfortable living area that welcomes guests. The interior features a mix of stained alder and white enamel cabinetry and woodwork, a vaulted great room with masonry fireplace, and an owners’ suite with a high ceiling, built-ins, and expansive lake views. One of the favorite spaces of the home is the beautiful lakeside porch & patio for entertaining, grilling and includes automated screens and vinyl shades for year-round enjoyment.

Located in, Summit Park, Park City UT lies one of the most efficient houses in the country. The Summit Haus – designed and built by Chris Price of PCD+B, is an exploration in design and construction of advanced high performance housing. Seeing a rising demand for sustainable housing along with rising Carbon emissions leading to global warming, this house strives to show that sensible, good design can create spaces adequate for today’s housing demands while adhering to strict standards. The house was designed to meet the very rigid Passiv House rating system – 90% more efficient than a typical home in the area. The house itself was intended to nestle neatly into the 45 degree sloped site and to take full advantage of the limited solar access and views. The views range from short, highly wooded views to a long corridor out towards the Uinta Mountain range towards the east. The house was designed and built based off Passiv Haus standards, and the framing and ventilation became critical elements to maintain such minimal energy requirements. Zola triple-pane, tilt-and-turn Thermo uPVC windows contribute substantially to the home’s energy efficiency, and takes advantage of the beautiful surrounding of the location, including forrest views from the deck off of the kitchen. When a 7 year old Brooklyn hip-kid is also an animal lover, you get this woodland boy's room, designed to grow and maximize storage. This small kid's bedroom features a storage bed, wall shelves, a spacious desk hutch, and a storage ottoman to accommodate ample toys and books, as well as a custom designed closet to suit a growing child's needs. Hipster Animals removable wallpaper is fun for a 7 year old, but still cheeky and cool enough for a teen. And while woodland animals abound, they are balanced by mature decor elements like neutral colors, dark blues, boyish plaid, and chic wool and leather textures meant to grow with child. This room is one of our favorite small space designs - it's fun, personalized, and makes the space look bigger--while also providing storage and function.
