These Slate kitchen floor tiles at a property in Oxford were in good physical condition, but had become dull over time due to heavy usage, and upon close inspection the grout was stained. The customer contacted me as she was keen to get the tiles back to looking their best. This would require a thorough clean and the application of a fresh sealer. While Slate floor tiles are reputed to be hard wearing and damage resistant – and are therefore a popular choice for high traffic areas like kitchens – this does not exclude them from needing regular maintenance. To begin, I mixed a strong solution of Tile Doctor Pro Clean and water. Pro-Clean is a versatile cleaner that when used in a weak dilution can be used as a regular cleaner for most types of natural stone floor, including more sensitive stones such as Limestone and Marble. The cleaning was then spread across the surface area of the floor, and left it to dwell for ten minutes to allow the solution to seep into the pores of the stone and lift the ingrained dirt to the surface. Pro-Clean in a strong dilution also functions as a stripping product, meaning it works to strip away any old and ineffectual sealer. I then scrubbed the solution into the floor using a stiff scrubbing brush, paying particular attention to the grout in order to break down the visible staining. The tiles and grout lines came up really well during the cleaning process – this became clear once I had rinsed the floor and removed the residue using a wet vacuum. With the customer eager to have the job completed quickly, I installed portable room dryers and utilised a heat gun to dry the floor, allowing me to seal it on the same day. Once I had ensured the floor was completely dry, I commenced the sealing process by firstly applying a coat of Tile Doctor Stone Oil, a product which is designed to bring out all of the natural dark shades in the Slate. When this was dry, I applied a single coat of Tile Doctor Colour Grow. This is an impregnating sealer, meaning that it soaks into pores of the stone to provide durable protection from within against ingrained dirt and stains. Colour Grow also enhances the natural colours in the stone even further. The customer was amazed by just how big a difference could be made to the tiles in the space of just a day. Although the tiles were generally in very good nick, my main task was to be liven them up – judging by the before and after photos, I think this was achieved. And, now that they have been treated to a fresh seal, the tiles will be prevented from quickly becoming dull again. Barry Woodward Oxfordshire Tile Doctor

What's better than a leisurely breakfast in bed for newlyweds!?! These Mr. and Mrs. individual trays were made using vintage 1950s Kentley trays as the base, with original designed art prints decoupaged on top with 5 layers of hard-coat Mod Podge and a protective layer of polyurethane on top. Each carries copy that says "Breakfast in Bed with my One True Love" in an oval around the Mrs and Mr at center. The background is a lacy Victorian design that complements the shape of each tray. Each tray is 17.5 x 8.5". Because the bases are vintage, there may be signs of age, random marks, slight edge wear. This is part of the vintage charm of these pieces and does not detract in any way, or affect functionality. About the bases: Kentley trays were produced in the 1950s. They are large enough to hold a luncheon plate, cup and saucer, juice glass and silverware. They are made of pressed wood fibers and covered in fused lithographed paper that is water and alcohol resistent on both front and back. Full exterior replacement on this Branson property. We tore off the old roof, installed architectural shingles, and wrapped the building in vertical metal siding. The stone base stayed, so the goal was picking a siding profile and color that worked with it instead of fighting it. Clean vertical lines against the stone gives the whole building a much sharper look. Metal siding holds up well in the Ozarks. It does not rot, it handles hail better than most materials, and it takes almost no maintenance once it is up.

A rustic stone wall announces the front entrance and connects the arrival court through the foyer and out to the lakeside deck. Timber benches line the front pathway to the cottage, sawn from a lightning-damaged tree that once stood upon the site. On the lake side, the large wood deck features a built-in hot tub and extends from one end of the bungalow to the other.

The original fireplace was tired and worn. Smoke damaged, brick that had been painted over and over again to the point where you couldn't even see the brick lines. So we created an impactful, but yet warm space by installing new quartz stone and shiplap at the top. It creates a warm inviting space that is sure to impress

This West Chester PA kitchen was in need of a remodel. We started from fresh. After the kitchen was demoed and extensive repairs were done to the severely water damaged laundry room flooring and framing and a new window and garage entry door installed we were ready to begin. The cabinetry layout was redesigned using Fabuwood cabinetry in the Fusion Blanc door style. This recessed panel door has clean lines for a more transitional look. A new pantry area with wine storage and wall mounted TV replaced the existing drywall pantry. The flooring throughout the kitchen, laundry, and powder room is 6”x36” Natural plank tile. New granite countertops in Fantasy brown along with new tile backsplash with a decorative feature over the range were also installed. Great new Kitchen Aid appliances complete the look. In all a total transformation. We hope the homeowners enjoy their new kitchen for years to come.

Maria & Paul wanted the guest bathroom updated with a new layout that would feel brighter and more functional. The goal was to replace the old tub and shower setup with a walk-in shower and bring a clean, fresh look to the space. The existing bathtub, wall tile, and countertops were removed, and damaged drywall was repaired to create a solid foundation for the remodel. A custom walk-in shower was installed. The shower floor features Vecchia Calacatta Penny Round Mosaic tile. For the walls, Smooth White Matte 8x24 tiles were chosen in a brick lay pattern with Schluter Jolly bright white edging. The niche was reframed to give more space and lined with the same mosaic tile for a standout detail. This addition brings both functionality and design, breaking up the clean white wall tile with texture and contrast. A Delta Saylor Matte Black shower fixture stands out against the white tile, while a sliding rain glass barn-style door with matte black hardware provides a clean entry. The original cabinets were kept and paired with Miraggio Duo quartz countertops and an oval white undermount sink. A Delta Saylor Matte Black widespread faucet was installed, and above it, a Wayfair Lark Manor Waxter framed mirror was mounted horizontally. The new shower brings style and convenience, with crisp white tile, penny round mosaic, and matte black fixtures as standout features. The vanity now has a polished quartz surface, framed mirror, and coordinated finishes that complete the transformation.
