The home was built in 1926 and had been remodeled a couple times. The kitchen was small and sandwiched between the closed off dining room and office not offering and view of outside or option for natural light (2 story house). The owners wanted to have a bigger kitchen with lots of light and a view of the backyard. 2-story houses have a harder time moving walls due to structural issues, but we were able to eliminate the wall between the office and kitchen to open up the space. After working through several design options, we relocated the laundry room door, created a new side door to the driveway, and moved the sink to the back wall to have a view of the yard. The owners love the craftsmen style and wanted to keep the look and feel but modernize everything. The accent tile behind the cooktop is handmade by FireClay tile. A serene spa-like feeling was achieved in the renovation of this 1980's bathroom. Warm neutrals and whites invite you into this luxurious bath with contemporary fixtures, a floating vanity, and curbless shower. Full height tile with a striated pattern emphasize the vaulted angular ceiling. The custom designed metal trellis outside of the shower's garden window displays a locally sourced concrete Buddha face relief. The project started by demoing the entire bathroom including a small office nook that was located next to it. This allowed more square footage to be added into the new plan. The original tub/shower combo was small and dated and therefore, had to be demoed. The bathroom was completely remodeled to include a new zero-threshold shower with a separate tub, a contemporary floating vanity with slab doors, a linen cabinet, and a new walk-in closet with vestibule built-ins on the other side of the bedroom. The custom walnut floating vanities, the linen cabinet and the 2 vestibule built-ins at the closet entry were created by a local craftsman. The central vanity is floating to create a more open concept and the walnut provides a more contemporary look. The vanity also has a seated area in the center in front of the window to maximize the most natural light. The materials palette is neutral in this bathroom, but with stunning elements like the walnut vanity, it really warms up the space and creates a welcoming environment. The fixtures in this remodel add to the sophisticated style of the space. The Kohler purist series can be seen throughout this remodel in the shower fixtures, the lavatory faucets, the wall-mounted tub filler and all of the accessories. The lavatory sinks are Carillon wading pool vessel sinks. A smart feature of this bathroom is the modern wall-mounted towel warmer that allows the homeowners to have a warmed towel rack within reach of their shower and tub area. Upon your entry into the sleeping loft, you will notice the amount of light that enters through the two skylights and large window facing the pond. The sound of water rushing over the pond’s spillway is a delightful addition to this large sleeping loft. Finished with engineered hardwood flooring and two built in double beds with tree trunks for legs, the room can accommodate four additional twin beds. The sleeping loft is also equipped with a kitchenette and a distinctive cedar and rock walled bathroom. The bath features an antique dresser vanity with marble vessel sink, distinctive fixtures and a floor to ceiling polished travertine marble shower with rain head. This bathroom also has an exterior door leading to a secondary upstairs staircase in the back yard. This kitchen transformation began with a dream for a light and bright kitchen that functions beautifully in a classic style that will never feel tired or dated. The homeowners never looked back as we tore out the old red linoleum floor and the wall that separated the kitchen from the dining area. A door connecting the kitchen to the bedroom corridor was closed off to maximize the counter and storage space and a new door was added to an adjacent office/guest bedroom to provide easy access to the kitchen. Snow white cabinets, white marble quartz and glossy white ceramic backsplash tile was paired with warm woods and revere pewter walls to create a bright yet inviting space. Deep drawers were chosen for plate and glassware storage. Trash and heavy duty butcher block cutting board rollouts offer convenience. A built in floor to ceiling pantry includes rollout drawers for easy access to dry food storage. An island microwave makes the task of quickly heating food accessible to even the youngest family members. Our favorite details include a gorgeous live edge buffet counter, cozy built-in eating nook with an heirloom dining table and a budget friendly dining nook pendant with a custom diffuser and cord added by a local light lighting shop.
