THEME There are two priorities in this
room: Hockey (in this case, Washington
Capitals hockey) and FUN.
FOCUS The room is broken into two
main sections (one for kids and one
for adults); and divided by authentic
hockey boards, complete with yellow
kickplates and half-inch plexiglass. Like
a true hockey arena, the room pays
homage to star players with two fully
autographed team jerseys preserved in
cases, as well as team logos positioned
throughout the room on custom-made
pillows, accessories and the floor.
The back half of the room is made just
for kids. Swings, a dart board, a ball
pit, a stage and a hidden playhouse
under the stairs ensure fun for all.
STORAGE A large storage unit at
the rear of the room makes use of an
odd-shaped nook, adds support and
accommodates large shelves, toys and
boxes. Storage space is cleverly placed
near the ballpit, and will eventually
transition into a full storage area once
the pit is no longer needed. The back
side of the hockey boards hold two
small refrigerators (one for adults and
one for kids), as well as the base for the
audio system.
GROWTH The front half of the room
lasts as long as the family’s love for the
team. The back half of the room grows
with the children, and eventually will
provide a useable, wide open space as
well as storage.
SAFETY A plexiglass wall separates the
two main areas of the room, minimizing
the noise created by kids playing and
hockey fans cheering. It also protects
the big screen TV from balls, pucks and
other play objects that occasionally fly
by. The ballpit door has a double safety
lock to ensure supervised use.

The CITC campus includes substantial new parking for apprentices and staff, a new entry axis and approach, and entries accented by plate steel canopies with the CITC logo lettering “punched” out and expressed. Extensive re-landscaping of the grounds was critical to creating a natural environment outside the building with which interior spaces interact. Wood and plumbing pipe trellises shelter three new outdoor student lounges accenting building corners.

Main Line Kitchen Design is a unique business model! We are a group of skilled Kitchen Designers each with many years of experience planning kitchens around the Delaware Valley. And we are cabinet dealers for 8 nationally distributed cabinet lines much like traditional showrooms.
Appointment Information
Unlike full showrooms open to the general public, Main Line Kitchen Design works only by appointment. Appointments can be scheduled days, nights, and weekends either in your home or in our office and selection center. During office appointments we display clients kitchens on a flat screen TV and help them look through 100’s of sample doorstyles, almost a thousand sample finish blocks and sample kitchen cabinets. During home visits we can bring samples, take measurements, and make design changes on laptops showing you what your kitchen can look like in the very room being renovated. This is more convenient for our customers and it eliminates the expense of staffing and maintaining a larger space that is open to walk in traffic. We pass the significant savings on to our customers and so we sell cabinetry for less than other dealers, even home centers like Lowes and The Home Depot.
We believe that since a web site like Houzz.com has over half a million kitchen photos, any advantage to going to a full kitchen showroom with full kitchen displays has been lost. Almost no customer today will ever get to see a display kitchen in their door style and finish because there are just too many possibilities. And the design of each kitchen is unique anyway. Our design process allows us to spend more time working on our customer’s designs. This is what we enjoy most about our business and it is what makes the difference between an average and a great kitchen design. Among the kitchen cabinet lines we design with and sell are Jim Bishop, CNC, Fabuwood, Brighton, and Wellsford Fine Custom Cabinetry. Links to these lines can be found at the bottom of this and all of our web pages. Simply click on the logos of each cabinet line to reach their web site.

This space transformation was small but has inspired many! ?? This non-profit location which houses hundreds of women and children includes a chapel where they gather for church, prayer, meetings and more. The hallway/lobby leading up to it was dark, outdated and uninspiring. I was challenged with creating a welcoming and visually appealing space while excluding anything that could be damaged/detached.
Growing up in the church, I’ve always had a spiritual admiration for stained glass windows. Historically, they’ve been used to help tell stories of the Bible. Also, the light that passes through stained glass windows is often seen as a symbol of the divine light of God. This light can represent many different things, such as hope, truth, love, and life. It’s also a symbol of Christ himself, as he is often referred to as the “Light of the World.” ✝️??
This inspired my vision to create a stained glass window effect in combination with the mission’s lantern logo and brand colors. It is a direct reflection of how their services continue to reach thousands and change their lives forever.??✨
We had the low wall demolished and space re-painted. The final touch will be a salvaged and refinished old church pew that will provide extra seating here for guests.

When it comes to styling your shelves, stack books for height; play with shape, scale, and texture; and group like items together (as Susan has done with her “herd” of elephants, a collection inspired by OKL’s logo).

The compass rose, which is included in our logo, is a popular item to inlay into various surfaces. This shows how an ordinary lower work counter can become a striking focal point of the kitchen. Made from many species of wood including walnut, quarter sawn oak, redwood, maple and others, the pieces flanking the compass rose are book matched grain.

Within a modernist house nestled in the hills, a family of five wanted to create a minimalist home to suit their casual, indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Our clients for this project, who have discerning tastes, but also love to have fun, collaborated with us on every detail. Everything in the home contains meaning, from the typographic artwork in the dining room that spells out “family” in logos, to graphics calling out the ownership of lockers in the mudroom, to the surfboards that line the stairwell like functional artwork.
All-white walls allow these details to take center stage, while Fleetwood doors slide open to usher the outdoors in and continuous concrete flooring unifies the indoor and outdoor spaces. Italian cabinetry, an opaque glass accent wall and an internal garage door that rolls up to reveal an industrial workout room complement the contemporary architecture, while in other spaces reclaimed barnwood and retro tiles provide a playful sense of contrast.

Kimberly Chau
For this home studio space for a very creative graphic designer and maker, she really wanted an all white space that should could then layer with color. Besides the color, she needed storage, since the room had none built in. So, I designed a built in cabinet that could store lots of art supplies and a large printer. She already had a desk with a birch finish that she wanted to use, so I included a birch counter in the all-white design of the built in to tie both pieces together. We selected the black light fixture and black and white cow print floor tiles for some additional interest. Finally, she layered in lots of color on the shelves and above her desk.
