Inspiration for a mid-century modern living room remodel in Indianapolis

This East Coast shingle style traditional home encapsulates many design details and state-of-the-art technology. Mingle's custom designed cabinetry is on display throughout Stonewood’s 2018 Artisan Tour home. In addition to the kitchen and baths, our beautiful built-in cabinetry enhances the master bedroom, library, office, and even the porch. The Studio M Interiors team worked closely with the client to design, furnish and accessorize spaces inspired by east coast charm. The clean, traditional white kitchen features Dura Supreme inset cabinetry with a variety of storage drawer and cabinet accessories including fully integrated refrigerator and freezer and dishwasher doors and wine refrigerator. The scullery is right off the kitchen featuring inset glass door cabinetry and stacked appliances. The master suite displays a beautiful custom wall entertainment center and the master bath features two custom matching vanities and a freestanding bathtub and walk-in steam shower. The main level laundry room has an abundance of cabinetry for storage space and two custom drying nooks as well. The outdoor space off the main level highlights NatureKast outdoor cabinetry and is the perfect gathering space to entertain and take in the outstanding views of Lake Minnetonka. The upstairs showcases two stunning ½ bath vanities, a double his/hers office, and an exquisite library. The lower level features a bar area, two ½ baths, in home movie theatre with custom seating, a reading nook with surrounding bookshelves, and custom wine cellar. This family’s basement had become a catch-all space and was sorely underutilized. Although it was spacious, the current layout wasn’t working. The homeowners wanted to transform this space from closed and dreary to open and inviting. Specific requirements of the design included: - Opening up the area to create an awesome family hang out space game room for kids and adults - A bar and eating area - A theater room that the parents could enjoy without disturbing the kids at night - An industrial design aesthetic The transformation of this basement is amazing. Walls were opened to create flow between the game room, eating space and theater rooms. One end of a staircase was closed off, enabling the soundproofing of the theater. A light neutral palette and gorgeous lighting fixtures make you forget that you are in the basement. Unique materials such as galvanized piping, corrugated metal and cool light fixtures give the space an industrial feel. Now, this basement functions as the great family hang out space the homeowners envisioned.

Kari Campbell, owner of Kari Campbell Interiors, LLC, transformed her unfinished lower level into a well-designed space for her family to enjoy time together and entertaining friends. Its beautiful design inspired many as it was featured in the Parade of Homes Remodelers Showcase last year. Off to the side of the lower level kitchen/bar area, modern black sliding doors with glass windows open into an exercise room with a custom Finnleo sauna, providing the family an at-home gym & spa. The sauna has become a regular part of their workout routines.

This Huntington Woods lower level renovation was recently finished in September of 2019. Created for a busy family of four, we designed the perfect getaway complete with custom millwork throughout, a complete gym, spa bathroom, craft room, laundry room, and most importantly, entertaining and living space. From the main floor, a single pane glass door and decorative wall sconce invites us down. The patterned carpet runner and custom metal railing leads to handmade shiplap and millwork to create texture and depth. The reclaimed wood entertainment center allows for the perfect amount of storage and display. Constructed of wire brushed white oak, it becomes the focal point of the living space. It’s easy to come downstairs and relax at the eye catching reclaimed wood countertop and island, with undercounter refrigerator and wine cooler to serve guests. Our gym contains a full length wall of glass, complete with rubber flooring, reclaimed wall paneling, and custom metalwork for shelving. The office/craft room is concealed behind custom sliding barn doors, a perfect spot for our homeowner to write while the kids can use the Dekton countertops for crafts. The spa bathroom has heated floors, a steam shower, full surround lighting and a custom shower frame system to relax in total luxury. Our laundry room is whimsical and fresh, with rustic plank herringbone tile. With this space layout and renovation, the finished basement is designed to be a perfect spot to entertain guests, watch a movie with the kids or even date night!
