This immersive water feature experience is like nothing we’ve ever seen or lit before!
This large water feature circumstance is at least 40 feet wide with multiple waterfalls and viewing vignettes. Each sitting area provides a different experience. Some areas are purposefully darker and more intimate than others. You can walk from the patio area to the firepit, situated in the back corner. Then from the sitting area and back to the patio all while enjoying this beautiful experience. Never fearing that you'll fall in!
During their evening consultation, the homeowners were greatly involved. They even chose specific fixtures. With our design guidance, we included various color tones for high impact and minimal light glare. We used multiple uplights, path lights and submersible lights in a mixture of 2700 K (Kelvin). We also used the Sunset tone in the water feature to create a waterscape that was relaxing.
That's the beauty of hiring Northwest Outdoor Lighting. You can choose how involved you want to be. Our designers are flexible! We know we'll select the best products based on function and aesthetics. But having homeowners get involved in the design process means you'll love it that much more!
The extensive backyard lawn and trees were also lit with flush in-grade well lights. This makes mowing and lawn care so much easier. Highlighting the tall evergreens creates a safe environment for when the puppies need to go out at night. No scary animals are lurking in dark corners now. Path lights have been added to all the walkways.
After having the water feature unlit for years, the water feature has now become the homeowner’s pride and joy!

It is sometimes a surprise what beauty can lurk under the surface of a room. A client with a 1970s kitchen and eat-in area cut up by an unwieldy peninsula was desperate for it to reflect her love of all things English-and-French-Manor-Home.
Working closely with my client, we removed the peninsula in favor of a lovely free-standing island that we painted a shade of French Blue. This is topped with Old World sink hardware (note the ceramic HOT and COLD medallions on the faucets!) and a gorgeous marble counter with a very special edge profile that evokes an antique French Boulangerie counter from the 1910s. Pendants with patinaed metal shades over the island further the charming Old World feel. Handmade white and blue tiles laid in a quilted diamond pattern cover the backsplash, and the remainder of the cabinetry at the perimeter is in a warm cream tone.
The eat-in near the fireplace got a cozy treatment with custom seat cushions and window seat bench cushions in a classic blue-and-white Toile de Jouy matching the island stools.
The nearby living room got a similar treatment. We removed dark wood paneling and dark carpeting in favor of a light sky blue wall and lighter wood flooring. A new rug with the appearance of an heirloom, a new grand-scaled sofa, and some of my client’s precious antiques helped take the room from 70s rec room to English Sitting Room.

We endeavored to work closely with the client to design a refined yet singularly styled house that would include ample places from which to experience the rich flora and fauna along the river and in the woods and nearby wetland. The Cottage is reached by strolling across a bridge that spans a restored wetland. A central oval-shaped Dining Room acts as a centering space in the house leading to a Library/Living Room, a spacious Kitchen, an open Office space and a conservatory-covered Craft Room and Laundry. The Office opens to a wrap-around Conservatory to allow full views of the abundant riverlife. A Sunroom is situated underneath a masterful old Oak tree. Upstairs the Master Suite allows for full enjoyment of the scenery with a private screen porch and Master Bath centered under the Oak. The Sky Room opens to a deck with views of the river and the stars. In the lower level lurks a ‘bat cave’, a full-featured video Screening Room, which was spearheaded and in collaboration by the client. The house makes use of low toxic materials, super insulated shell and Solar Electric system and 3 story elevator. A garage barn features a stargazing deck and a Solar Electric system. 4500sf/415m - 4bdrm

Creepy cobwebs and clutter lurking in your attic? Big Bear Remodeling was called to create a finished flex space in this attic. Storage areas with framed access doors create a more organized storage space. The floor was leveled, and new luxury vinyl plank flooring was added, along with new red oak handrails and balusters for the stairway. Big electrical upgrades were made so additional outlets, and lighting can brighten the space. New windows and insulation allow for better temperature control in a more welcoming space. Finishing the space with drywall gives a cleaner look and a space ready for the family to paint later.

This 1960's kitchen condo had a dated floorplan. It was cramped, tiny and separated from the main living/dining area. To create a space more suitable for entertaining, all three walls were removed. The old bar area was incorporated into the new footprint. Brick veneer was used as a kitchen backsplash, installed up to the ceiling and around the side. It gives the illusion that the brick was always there, lurking behind the wall. To hide the electrical components, we added soffits and posts. This helped define the kitchen area. A knee wall in front of the island hides more electrical and adds counter depth. The open space between the counters was extended from 36 inches to 50, making it comfortable for multiple chefs. Luxury vinyl was installed to unify the space.

Lined in natural cork, a watertight, floating floor offers a distinct, acoustical advantage. Ocean waves are suggested in the weave of durable fabric on a pair of upholstered armchairs. Made locally, a space smart sleeper sofa pulls out to offer a plush gel topped memory foam mattress as opposed to hard bars and coils lurking within.
