This young married couple enlisted our help to update their recently purchased condo into a brighter, open space that reflected their taste. They traveled to Copenhagen at the onset of their trip, and that trip largely influenced the design direction of their home, from the herringbone floors to the Copenhagen-based kitchen cabinetry. We blended their love of European interiors with their Asian heritage and created a soft, minimalist, cozy interior with an emphasis on clean lines and muted palettes.

Our client was a family with younger children that came to us through the recommendations of former customers. Their existing house had been remodeled by them 10 years earlier and was well-suited to the married couple. With the addition of two younger children, they realized that the house just didn’t function very well for their family. Fortunately, the husband and wife took their time thinking about what they wanted, and by the time they met with us, had their needs well laid out. We brought in local Architect, James Stroupe, and recommended him to the client as a collaborative professional who could help us achieve their goals. This proved to be the case. Jim quickly produced design drawings for them within six weeks that clearly reflected all of the client’s needs and preferences while at the same time dramatically re-creating the home in a beautiful contemporary design. The new home required a complete reconstruction of the existing house that left only one bathroom unaltered. New square footage was added at the lower level to expand and reconfigure the living area, while an entirely new upstairs wing was constructed to create space for a new master suite with views out toward the ocean. The entire roof was rebuilt, all new windows and interior doors were added and the full exterior received a new modern looking stucco finish. Stainless steel cable railings were added to the decks to create an updated look, and fine hardwood accents were used to pull the design together. Our efforts produced a new three bedroom, three bath home with a large and inviting ground floor patio area, wide open living areas on the first floor with new kitchen, bathroom and dining room. The photographs in this section show the striking results- clean lines, dramatic architectural touches, and light, open and airy interior spaces. Our client was very pleased with the results.

This lovingly restored Winnetka Heights Craftsman home was a pleasure to work on. My clients, a young married couple with two sweet pups, enjoy collecting unique items from their travels and loved ones and wanted to incorporate them in the design. This was a special project for me because it aligns with my philosophy that our home should be a reflection of who we are. My goal was to pair these bespoke collectibles with modern and new furnishings, fabrics, and fixtures to create a harmonized design that truly reflected their nostalgic and well-traveled style. My approach involved enhancing the home’s character and charm while adding personalized details and modern touches. I reused preexisting furniture pieces, reupholstered chairs, and repurposed light fixtures to capitalize on sustainable and creative design all while focusing on strategic furniture placement and smart selections. From the photographs taken by her father in the dining room to the old coins framed and labeled in the front room, each item in their home told a unique story. The final result was a cohesive and personalized space that my client can joyfully call their home, reflecting their unique style and love for travel and bespoke items.

Pine Perch commands dramatic views to the eastern plains, from the Pine Brook Hills community just west of Boulder. Nestled into a sloping foothills site, the home is a lively beginning for a newly married couple and their visiting children and grandchildren. The continuation of materials from interior to exterior creates visually engaging indoor-outdoor connections. Structural stone walls extend from living spaces to outside buttressed walls, and steel ceiling beams ascend continuously from the Great Room to the uplifted shed roof outdoors. Corner window walls further help to “break the container” of living in this natural setting. Centered on food and good times, this sun-filled home expresses an uplifting spirit that the couple enthusiastically celebrates as life’s next chapter. A sweet newly married couple just moved into their Charleston home with standard builder features in their dining room, like beige walls and oil rubbed light fixtures. With a little paint - Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy - and some pretty gold home accessories, this formal dining room was well on its way to fabulous! We included Ballard Design gold pendants, Serena & Lily zig cotton dhurrie rug, Restoration Hardware pedestal dining table and chairs, Home Goods lamps and vases and coastal artwork framed in gold.

A 3 story townhouse in the charming Victoria Park neighborhood in East Fort Lauderdale was designed with for a young professional married couple and baby. As New Yorker’s who recently relocated, they wanted a home that was modern yet felt tropical with a bit of exotic flair. Clean lined furniture coupled with global patterns, textures and sculptural objects create a visually stimulating home that feels sophisticated and warm. The loft like space was initially transformed by painting the walls light gray walls and installing light oak wood floors, and flowy sheers for privacy, instantly making the space feel light and airy. Designed for the lifestyle and budget of a young married couple and growing family, this home offers a viable alternative to the generic speculative home. Occupying a small leftover developer site, just under four tenths of an acre at the end of a suburban cul-de-sac, the Lanning Residence site is anchored by a one hundred year old oak tree. The parcel, once undesirable to developers and their speculative plans, became the inspiration for the project form. Acting as both designers and builders, the decision was made early to utilize a strategy typical to most suburban construction; maximizing square footage while minimizing the building perimeter. An analysis of the surrounding suburban fabric revealed that the adjoining property lines were heavily planted. Views and window placement were organized to take advantage of the adjacent landscape while maximizing natural light. The house program is distributed within two main volumes that are connected by a translucent circulation volume. The spacious interior volumes, large windows, plywood shear walls, sheetrock, and simple details allowed for a light construction budget. Spray foam insulation and well designed mechanical systems allowed the family to reduce their monthly utility bills by over half, creating a far more energy efficient lifestyle.
