TVL Creative Ltd.Our clients, two NYC transplants, were excited to have a large yard and ample square footage, but their 1959 ranch featured an en-suite bathroom that was more big-apple-tiny and certainly not fit for two. The original goal was to build a master suite addition on to the south side of the house, but the combination of contractor availability and Denver building costs made the project cost prohibitive. So we turned our attention to how we could maximize the existing square footage to create a true master with walk-in closet, soaking tub, commode room, and large vanity with lots of storage. The south side of the house was converted from two bedrooms, one with the small en-suite bathroom, to a master suite fit for our client’s lifestyle. We used the existing bathroom footprint to place a large shower which hidden niches, a window, and a built-in bench. The commode room took the place of the old shower. The original ‘master’ bedroom was divided in half to provide space for the walk-in closet and their new master bathroom. The clients have, what we dubbed, a classy eclectic aesthetic and we wanted to embrace that with the materials. The 3 x 12 ceramic tile is Fireclay’s Tidewater glaze. The soft variation of a handmade tile plus the herringbone pattern installation makes for a real show stopper. We chose a 3 x 6 marble subway with blue and green veining to compliment the feature tile. The chrome and oil-rubbed bronze metal mix was carefully planned based on where we wanted to add brightness and where we wanted contrast. Chrome was a no-brainer for the shower because we wanted to let the Fireclay tile shine. Over at the vanity, we wanted the fixtures to pop so we opted for oil-rubbed bronze. Final details include a series of robe hook- which is a real option with our dry climate in Colorado. No smelly, damp towels!- a magazine rack ladder and a few pops of wood for warmth and texture.
Custom Design & ConstructionThis colorful Contemporary design / build project started as an Addition but included new cork flooring and painting throughout the home. The Kitchen also included the creation of a new pantry closet with wire shelving and the Family Room was converted into a beautiful Library with space for the whole family. The homeowner has a passion for picking paint colors and enjoyed selecting the colors for each room. The home is now a bright mix of modern trends such as the barn doors and chalkboard surfaces contrasted by classic LA touches such as the detail surrounding the Living Room fireplace. The Master Bedroom is now a Master Suite complete with high-ceilings making the room feel larger and airy. Perfect for warm Southern California weather! Speaking of the outdoors, the sliding doors to the green backyard ensure that this white room still feels as colorful as the rest of the home. The Master Bathroom features bamboo cabinetry with his and hers sinks. The light blue walls make the blue and white floor really pop. The shower offers the homeowners a bench and niche for comfort and sliding glass doors and subway tile for style. The Library / Family Room features custom built-in bookcases, barn door and a window seat; a readers dream! The Children’s Room and Dining Room both received new paint and flooring as part of their makeover. However the Children’s Bedroom also received a new closet and reading nook. The fireplace in the Living Room was made more stylish by painting it to match the walls – one of the only white spaces in the home! However the deep blue accent wall with floating shelves ensure that guests are prepared to see serious pops of color throughout the rest of the home. This summer cottage was winterized in the 1960’s as a year round home. The new owners decided to remodel the master suite to achieve more efficient energy saving and storage needs. After a design by another builder failed to inspire them, Excelsior Design Group was commissioned to review the project.
Client Objectives
The homeowners were looking to convert an old master bathroom into a walk in closet, remodel a guest bedroom into a master bathroom and remodel a hall bathroom into a laundry room.
Project Details
It was immediately determined that the master bath and closet layout previously designed needed to be flipped. The old master bathroom became the walk in closet for Susan. The new walk-in closet, designed to accommodate hundreds of shoes, was designed by Janis Gaut of Closet Factory and incorporates the same marble tops as the vanities and the fireplace.

A&E Construction and Design CenterMulti-room interior renovation. Our clients made beautiful selections throughout for their Craftsman style home. Kitchen includes, crisp, clean white shaker cabinets, oak wood flooring, subway tile, eat-in breakfast nook, stainless appliances, calcatta grey quartz counterops, and beautiful custom butcher block. Back porch converted to mudroom with locker storage, bench seating, and durable COREtec flooring. Two smaller bedrooms were converted into gorgeous master suite with newly remodeled master bath. Second story children's bathroom was a complete remodel including double pedestal sinks, porcelain flooring and new fixtures throughout.

The Master Bath had seen several updates throughout its 100 year history. When our clients desired to convert their pervious renovation into their dream Master Bath, they contact Xtreme Renovations and our Team of professionals that includes Design, Quality Craftsmanship and meticulous attention to details to deliver the final product and the ‘Wow Factor’ that Xtreme Renovations is known for.
The renovation project required removing an existing window, claw tub, extensive plumbing including moving and install new water and drain lines as well as adding an additional propane hot water heater. Many electrical upgrades were included in this renovation as well as extensive drywall work, painting and exterior siding to match the age of this portion of the home.
Our Xtreme Team went to work and presented a design concept that met the needs of our clients and delivered a modern and functional Master Bathroom that completed years of renovation on the Country Home. The project included Custom Built Vanity with full extension soft closing drawers and European hinge soft closing doors. A large shower enclosure was built with corner seating, shower niches, shower wand and stylish tile accents to enhance the shower area. Seamless Glass with heavy duty supports were included in the shower enclosure for ensured safety of our client’s young children and to provide piece of mind and total functionality of the family. The toilet was moved to add space due to the smaller size of this 1915 constructed Master Bath. Recessed LED lighting as well as above vanity light sconces on dimmers completed this amazing transformation.

Storage was extremely important for this project because she wanted to go from keeping everything out in the open to have everything tucked away neatly, and who wouldn’t want this? So we went to work figuring out how to hide as much as possible but still keep things easy to access. The solution was two pullouts on either side of each vanity and a flush mount medicine cabinet above, so plenty of storage for each person.
We kept the layout pretty much the same, but just changed up the configuration of the cabinets. We added a storage cabinet by the toilet because there was plenty of room for that and converted the tub to a shower to make it easy to use the space long-term.
Modern day conveniences were also installed, including a heated towel bar, a lower threshold cast iron shower pan with sliding barn door shower door and a flip down shower seat. The house is a classic 1950’s midcentury ranch so we chose materials that fit that bill, and that had a bit of a Scandinavian vibe, including light maple Shaker door cabinets, black hardware and lighting, and simple subway tile in the shower. Our client fell in love with the white Macauba quartzite countertops in our showroom, and we agree they bring a perfect earthy energy into her space.

On the upper level, we added a new master bedroom for the clients to use now, and a large walk-in closet. The ductwork and mechanical requirements prevented us from installing the cathedral ceiling the clients wanted, but we were still able to create volume in the center with a tray ceiling. To connect the new master bedroom to the existing master bathroom (remodeled by Landis five years ago), we converted the original exterior window of the home into a door to the bedroom.
