Master bathroom expansion. The original bathroom was only 30 -40 square feet. My customer asked me to expand into the adjoining closet and vanity area, more than tripling the space. There were load bearing obstacles that had to be modified and windows were added. The shower has a shower head, hand held sprayer and two body jets. The tub is large and holds up to 54 gallon and is 6 feet long.

The Kipling house is a new addition to the Montrose neighborhood. Designed for a family of five, it allows for generous open family zones oriented to large glass walls facing the street and courtyard pool. The courtyard also creates a buffer between the master suite and the children's play and bedroom zones. The master suite echoes the first floor connection to the exterior, with large glass walls facing balconies to the courtyard and street. Fixed wood screens provide privacy on the first floor while a large sliding second floor panel allows the street balcony to exchange privacy control with the study. Material changes on the exterior articulate the zones of the house and negotiate structural loads.

The master bedroom sports a “spa-style teak bed, a study table from Jaipur and a cosy window seat that overlooks swathes of greenery, giving the space an earthy, ethnic look.” Wood cladding on the beam and a sliver of brick wall add warmth and texture to the space. Stucco walls behind the bed and sea-foam-green ceiling-height wardrobes with louvred panels on some of the doors gives the room a dash of colour and loads of personality.

This amazing master closet maximized all of the space from floor to ceiling. The island contains drawers for personal items, loads of double hang and long hang. The upper hanging spaces has pull down rods for seasonal items. Glass doors on cabinets to display purses.

This traditional home makes the most of a smaller square footage with its smart layout and open living spaces. The great room is at the heart of the home, with French doors opening out to the screen porch with sun lights in its cathedral ceiling. The spacious kitchen is tucked away in the corner looking out to the common area over a curved bar, which mirrors the columned entrance to the dining room. Located off to the side for privacy, the master suite includes a well-appointed master bath and a large walk-in closet.
