The primary bedroom and bathroom are the showstoppers of this phase! This neutral bedroom served as the starting point for three distinct interior design concepts. The original room features a simple functional layout, a restrained color palette and minimal decorative details. Its proportions and main architectural elements were retained, while the furniture, lighting, materials, colors and decor were reimagined in each transformation.

A sculptural all-white sink anchors the minimalist bathroom, paired with a custom floating wood vanity. Clean lines, refined finishes, and restrained detailing define this high-end retreat.

Inspired by the iconic American farmhouse, this transitional home blends a modern sense of space and living with traditional form and materials. Details are streamlined and modernized, while the overall form echoes American nastolgia. Past the expansive and welcoming front patio, one enters through the element of glass tying together the two main brick masses. The airiness of the entry glass wall is carried throughout the home with vaulted ceilings, generous views to the outside and an open tread stair with a metal rail system. The modern openness is balanced by the traditional warmth of interior details, including fireplaces, wood ceiling beams and transitional light fixtures, and the restrained proportion of windows. The home takes advantage of the Colorado sun by maximizing the southern light into the family spaces and Master Bedroom, orienting the Kitchen, Great Room and informal dining around the outdoor living space through views and multi-slide doors, the formal Dining Room spills out to the front patio through a wall of French doors, and the 2nd floor is dominated by a glass wall to the front and a balcony to the rear. As a home for the modern family, it seeks to balance expansive gathering spaces throughout all three levels, both indoors and out, while also providing quiet respites such as the 5-piece Master Suite flooded with southern light, the 2nd floor Reading Nook overlooking the street, nestled between the Master and secondary bedrooms, and the Home Office projecting out into the private rear yard. This home promises to flex with the family looking to entertain or stay in for a quiet evening.

A mix of patterns, colors and styles work together to create a bright, fresh bedroom that never stops surprising. Striped green walls continue from the hallway and are interrupted by floor to ceiling windows with dark floral draperies. A cheetah print rug provides the perfect base for a green upholstered bed and a blue velvet chaise. The bed is flanked by two coral lacquered tables which are mirrored across the room in the form of a matching set of coral chairs with a fun patterned ottoman. Summer Thornton Design, Inc.

With a restrained hand, out interior designer set about bringing a new life in our clients petite apartment while also introducing easy to maintain, durable surfaces and furnishings as they love to entertain and have a lively St. Bernard. And as they had an extensive book collection and a single three-foot wide closet, the key challenge here was to make the best use of the entire space while injecting it with charming whimsy. After falling in love with our designer’s presentation, our clients went for a complete apartment overhaul and started from scratch. Since the space is small, our designer Anna S. wanted to create an urgent sense of vibrancy without coming off as too heavy handed. So she worked in expressive colors and decorative extras in small doses for subtle impact. Starting the project by changing several of the unit’s light fixtures for brighter, more minimal styles, Anna surveyed the apartment room to room to devise clever storage solutions that are easy on the eye. As they have friends over often, Anna created a warm and inviting living room boasting a slightly feminine take on mid-century modern layered with colorful pillows, patterned rugs, and eclectic art that doesn’t take over the apartment. In the kitchen, she added a strong yet gender neutral burlap wallpaper, floating wooden shelves, and new plumbing fixtures that were more sophisticated than the original, standard ones in place. However, our favorite part of the apartment is the moody, statement-making foyer. Though it was a long and narrow barely used, neglected space, Anna brought in wallpaper from Tempaper that features a matte black background covered with gold bird and floral illustrations, and added a long row of black glass cabinets and several large gold mirrors for an added sense of glamorous drama and an extra amount of storage space to boot.

In this house, no area is too small to be artfully designed and decorated. His water closet has a stunning tile accent, highlighted by a well-placed can light. It's a water closet so beautiful you'll have to restrain yourself from bragging about it to all of your guests. Another interesting aspect of the water closets in the master bathroom is that both his and hers are on a motion sensor. Since both closets are fairly recessed into the bathroom, when the lights come on, they serve as a perfect nightlight. Now that's what I call ingenious design.
