See this beautiful young family's home in Murphy come to life. Once grey and mostly monochromatic, we were hired to bring color, life and purposeful functionality to several spaces. A family study was created to include loads of color, workstations for four, and plenty of storage. The dining and family rooms were updated by infusing color, transitional wall decor and furnishings with beautiful, yet sustainable fabrics. The master bath was reinvented with new granite counter tops, art and accessories to give it some additional personality. Our most recent update includes a multi-functional teen hang out space and a private loft that serves as an executive’s work-from-home office, mediation area and a place for this busy mom to escape and relax.

This 1990s brick home had decent square footage and a massive front yard, but no way to enjoy it. Each room needed an update, so the entire house was renovated and remodeled, and an addition was put on over the existing garage to create a symmetrical front. The old brown brick was painted a distressed white. The 500sf 2nd floor addition includes 2 new bedrooms for their teen children, and the 12'x30' front porch lanai with standing seam metal roof is a nod to the homeowners' love for the Islands. Each room is beautifully appointed with large windows, wood floors, white walls, white bead board ceilings, glass doors and knobs, and interior wood details reminiscent of Hawaiian plantation architecture. The kitchen was remodeled to increase width and flow, and a new laundry / mudroom was added in the back of the existing garage. The master bath was completely remodeled. This very contemporary translation of a more rustic, organic mood is an artful solution to the desire for naturally-inspired design with a modern touch. The stain resistant qualities and low surface moisture absorbency of this washbasin are functional and easy to clean. Beneath, the elegant and very useful, clip handle, 3-drawer cabinet, again striking in its simplicity of design and its rich, earth toned matt lacquer finish. The streamlined styling of this cabinet works in perfect harmony with the sink console providing generous storage in both the drawers and cabinet top. The lacquer finish ensures hard-wearing, easy clean, hygienic beauty. This bathroom was designed for two teenage boys to share. Note the emphasis on functionality. Each boy can set up shop on his own side of the vanity. Each has an outlet and plenty of cabinet storage. A shared middle drawer has a built-in outlet for keeping razors out of the way while charging. The color palette is soothing but just bold enough. A pocket door saves space while offering some privacy during busy times. Consider the utility of the handheld shower head and bench combo – a handy setup for tending to sports injuries or powering through sore mornings after team practice. This space isn’t devoid of personal touches, though. The hexagon tiles in the shower are subtle but have a very special meaning. You see, this family has a history of participating in the National Spelling Bee contest. The dad went the distance a few decades ago and now both boys compete. The honeycomb motif serves as a daily reminder of the family’s shared passion and the endless possibilities that await when you set an intention and work hard at it. This bathroom is part of a larger remodel that included a new primary bath, a primary suite closet and a new kitchen.

This funky suburban setting home used elements of its original rustic, modern vibe juxtaposed with quirky, curated pieces to create unexpected vignettes and conversational spaces. Its bright and modern open plan contrasted with vintage over-dyed rugs, contemporary art, and saturated colors add an unconventional twist. The rooftop teen lounge serves edgy design with pop-art flair.

Existing 1950's Fir Flooring in this mid-century charmer was refinished in a natural oil finish. Salvaged fir flooring was sourced and feathered in to the kitchen and bathroom to match, creating a seamless wall to wall wood floor bungalow. Against the white washed decor, these floors really add a pop of colour.

The owners of this dreamy master bedroom booked with us after we designed a room for their teen daughter that made them envious for their own serene space. Natural light floods this space in the daytime, but is blocked out by the drapes at night. The custom barn door inspired headboard and extra wide console tables utilize every bit of this wonderfully wide space.
