The owners lived in their home as we added this gorgeous contemporary master suite addition in Del Mar. We tore off the roof of the home, added a 2nd story 654 sqft master suite and successfully minimized the disruption to their daily lives. Working as a team throughout the process made this master suite renovation enjoyable for both the client and the TaylorPro team. This 1930s home in the hills of Belle Haven had a kitchen that was compartmentalized from the rest of the first floor. Entering required walking through the dining room. Space at the right side of the kitchen near the back door was not being used. Relocating the kitchen's sink, dishwasher and range to the right and rear sides of the home not only opened up the kitchen to be more functional, but also allowed for better circulation. The foyer now connects to the kitchen, and the back door is now in line with the entrance. Elegant, double French doors that open out to the screen porch replaced a small door from the screen porch that opened in. (A corner cabinet with wine bar fits nicely in a corner that was once blocked by the range.) The entrance from the dining room to the kitchen was widened to double its size. In addition, a wrap around counter allows more natural light from the rear of the house into the dining room. Our clients wanted to add on to their 1950's ranch house, but weren't sure whether to go up or out. We convinced them to go out, adding a Primary Suite addition with bathroom, walk-in closet, and spacious Bedroom with vaulted ceiling. To connect the addition with the main house, we provided plenty of light and a built-in bookshelf with detailed pendant at the end of the hall. The clients' style was decidedly peaceful, so we created a wet-room with green glass tile, a door to a small private garden, and a large fir slider door from the bedroom to a spacious deck. We also used Yakisugi siding on the exterior, adding depth and warmth to the addition. Our clients love using the tub while looking out on their private paradise!

The homeowner's bought this antique farmhouse on the coast of Maine with the intention of renovating it to provide a peaceful summer retreat for their family. They wanted to maintain some of the charming antique features, while also adding space, modern amenities, and views of the marshland and ocean beyond. The home was expanded with a two story addition featuring complementary rooflines and the same simple, low slung shed dormers as the original home. The result is an eclectic, comfortable cottage that mixes the old with the new and features a variety of porches and balconies tucked under rooflines, as well as indoor spaces, to enjoy the exquisite views. The second floor features a new master suite at the far end, creating a luxurious retreat. A romantic, private gable-end balcony offers sweeping views of the marsh and ocean. Inspiration for a large cottage loft-style medium tone wood floor bedroom remodel in New York with no fireplace and gray walls

When the homeowners first purchased the 1925 house, it was compartmentalized, outdated, and completely unfunctional for their growing family. Casework designed the owner's previous kitchen and family room and was brought in to lead up the creative direction for the project. Casework teamed up with architect Paul Crowther and brother sister team Ainslie Davis on the addition and remodel of the Colonial. The existing kitchen and powder bath were demoed and walls expanded to create a new footprint for the home. This created a much larger, more open kitchen and breakfast nook with mudroom, pantry and more private half bath. In the spacious kitchen, a large walnut island perfectly compliments the homes existing oak floors without feeling too heavy. Paired with brass accents, Calcutta Carrera marble countertops, and clean white cabinets and tile, the kitchen feels bright and open - the perfect spot for a glass of wine with friends or dinner with the whole family. There was no official master prior to the renovations. The existing four bedrooms and one separate bathroom became two smaller bedrooms perfectly suited for the client’s two daughters, while the third became the true master complete with walk-in closet and master bath. There are future plans for a second story addition that would transform the current master into a guest suite and build out a master bedroom and bath complete with walk in shower and free standing tub. Overall, a light, neutral palette was incorporated to draw attention to the existing colonial details of the home, like coved ceilings and leaded glass windows, that the homeowners fell in love with. Modern furnishings and art were mixed in to make this space an eclectic haven.
