This spacious master bathroom is bright and elegant. It features white Calacatta marble tile on the floor, wainscoting treatment, and enclosed glass shower. The same Calacatta marble is also used on the two vanity countertops. Our crew spent time planning out the installation of the gorgeous water-jet floor tile insert, as well as the detailed Calacatta slab wall treatment in the shower. 2013 NKBA MEDIUM BATH When this young couple purchased their nearly 25-year-old colonial, the master bathroom was the first thing they wanted to change. Drab looking with worn out cabinets and a shower that was too small, it didn’t fit their modern vision for the space. Working with Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes, they came up with a plan to enlarge the bathroom, stealing space from the master bedroom. The new design includes a much larger shower, the addition of a walk-in shower and more. And the results are nothing less than stunning. A new, frameless glass shower stall is equipped with a steam unit, body sprays, rain shower head, and thermostatic valve and control. A double-sided fireplace overlooks a large whirlpool tub (also visible from the master bedroom). Modern wall hanger espresso finish vanities are topped with a marble top and his and her tumbled marble vessel sinks. Two tall linen cabinets bookend the vanity for additional storage. A recessed mirror with back lighting effect was also installed. Large 20” × 20” white marble floor and walls with dark metallic tile were placed on featured walls for added effects. The floors in both the bathroom and closet are heated. An enlarged doorway from bathroom to walk-in closet offers double French glass doors which are pocketed for better traffic flow. Built-in closet systems are his and hers with matching cherry espresso finish cabinetry covered by obscure glass doors and a touch pad lighting system. The middle island features shoe racks and tie and socks storage. Clean, streamlined and functional, the homeowners love this award-winning space.

A dated and dark master bathroom got a full make-over. The shower was enlarged by removing hallway niches and a curved block shower wall which resulted in an spa worthy shower with multiple water /body sprays. A full width large bench was added along with (2) oversized soap -shampoo niches. All new custom cabinetry was designed including medicine cabinets with space to charge bath appliances, a sit down vanity space and lots of drawers to maximize storage options. A dated built-in Jacuzzi tub was removed and replaced with a beautiful free-standing tub. Gorgeous light sconces have been placed on the full wall mirrors over the vanities. A swoon worthy pendant light hangs above the tub. The burnished gold finish on the plumbing fixtures compliments the marble look porcelain tile used through out. The vanity back splash are antiqued mirror adding additional reflections to the bathroom.

We were excited to take on this master bathroom remodel for a young couple looking to update their recently purchased condo on the water in Playa Del Rey. They were looking for a modern version of the classic his and hers bathroom complete with double shower and colors inspired by the nearby Pacific Ocean. Located on the top floor of their building the master bathroom features a sky light allowing for natural light. The true double shower features a Kohler shower tower with built in body sprayers, hand held and dual shower heads. Unique to this design is that the double shower also features dual shower benches. There are even two shower niches to ensure that both sides are equal. Marble was used throughout the shower and bathroom. Above the commode is a floating toiletry cabinet mounted to the wall. All of the cabinetry is espresso. The bottom of the cabinet allows for open shelving. The his and hers vanities are separated by a full height center linen closet and drawers. Since wall space was at a premium, towel rings were mounted to the cabinetry and an integrated towel bar is on the shower door. Robe hooks hang on the glass shower walls. The walls of the bathroom are green with an accent tile separating the marble wainscoting. The accent tiles are an ocean themed blue / green mix. The bathroom is finished off with a pocket door.

This master bath needed some improvement! The shower was very small and dated...with mold growing in all sorts of hidden spaces! The tile was improperly installed, so the grout was cracking. The corner whirlpool tub was difficult to use. To improve this bath, we removed a built-in cabinet, moved a wall, and changed double doors to a single one so the shower could be expanded. The corner whirlpool tub was removed and replaced with a smaller rectangular tub to open up the space. New tile was installed with accent tile bands and a pattern in the floor. We installed frameless shower glass to give the space an open feel and added two showerheads, three body sprays and a bench. The definitive idea behind this project was to create a modest country house that was traditional in outward appearance yet minimalist from within. The harmonious scale, thick wall massing and the attention to architectural detail are reminiscent of the enduring quality and beauty of European homes built long ago. It features a custom-built Spanish Colonial- inspired house that is characterized by an L-plan, low-pitched mission clay tile roofs, exposed wood rafter tails, broad expanses of thick white-washed stucco walls with recessed-in French patio doors and casement windows; and surrounded by native California oaks, boxwood hedges, French lavender, Mexican bush sage, and rosemary that are often found in Mediterranean landscapes. An emphasis was placed on visually experiencing the weight of the exposed ceiling timbers and the thick wall massing between the light, airy spaces. A simple and elegant material palette, which consists of white plastered walls, timber beams, wide plank white oak floors, and pale travertine used for wash basins and bath tile flooring, was chosen to articulate the fine balance between clean, simple lines and Old World touches.
