This master bathroom was remodeled with the help of Inset Crystal cabinets. A long double vanity cabinet was created along with a large linen closet to maximize the storage space. Cherry finished in a rich molasses gave this bath a craftsman flair. Complementing the cabinetry a brushed nickel was selected for the hardware and topped off with a crisp Lyra Silestone.

This recently completed outdoor living space was created for a really great family in Chatham. Their original backyard design included a deck surrounded by mulch planting beds. We demolished all original elements and constructed an all bluestone patio that ran the entire width of their home. This made it possible to double their usable space. We used uniformly sized all blue bluestone tiles. We built them an outdoor kitchen and bar - complete with grill, shelving, built-in trash can and refrigerator. Pearl Blue quartz was used for the counter top and we rounded the bar side in order to maximize sitting space. The perimeter of the patio received a 20" high sitting wall with a 2" thick bluestone tread cap. LED strip lighting was installed below the wall cap to provide accent lighting at night. At the yard entrance, we built (2) raised piers complete with centered light fixtures on top. The custom gas-start/wood-burn fireplace really sets this patio apart from most. By curving the hearth and hollowing out the interior, we were able to create a wood log storage area without sacrificing any of their usable space on the sides. The gas dial is concealed on the side of the fireplace and is operated by key. Throughout the entire patio you will see cultured stone siding that provides the perfect blend of continuity and complimentary colors. This project was a huge success and the client is very happy with the finished product. We couldn't have asked to work for better people.

When architect Kate Herring wanted maximized views for her new home, she chose Western Window Systems. The contemporary residence features several products from Western, including a Series 600 Multi-Slide Door that extends entertaining space between the dining and courtyard areas. The most stunning views come courtesy of Western’s 600 Series Window Wall. Featuring large expanses of glass two stories high, it provides an optimum view of the outdoors while flooding the upstairs library and downstairs living space with natural light.

A beautiful Transitional kitchen design with Traditional elements. A decorative wood hood with tile insert details was incorporated over the range. X mullion stacked upper cabinetry with glass and LED lighting highlights this impressive feature. Magic corner & corner drawers base storage cabinets were used to maximize storage in the base corner locations. Existing drywall vent cover & wire rack closet pantry was removed and cabinet pantries were cleverly used to house vent and allow a storage of narrow items around the vent while full depth storage was accessible by the old closet area. Bar storage drawers were added to the wine cooler area. Fridge & Freezer were enclosed with cabinetry materials and an added narrow pantry for spice storage. Products used were Miralis cabinetry, Fully Integrated Liebherr Fridge & Freezer, LED cabinetry & ceiling lighting, Silestone Altair quartz tops, C-Tech Lucerne Ice White Quartzo sink, Vent a Hood blower and Walker Zanger vintage Oyster backsplashes that added a beautiful flavor to the kitchen. This traditional 4,000 square-foot home is located on a quiet cul de sac in Alamo, California. It served as a family home for San Francisco city professionals, but it was due for a remodel following a change in the lives of the owners. The homeowners are now empty nesters and came to Yoko Oda Interior Design to update their home. Our aim was to create a sophisticated timeless modern environment for this large estate in the San Francisco Bay Area. We were excited to take on the challenge and give the home a new lease of life now their children have grown up and left home.
Our sophisticated clients were drawn to traditional architectural details, global influences (i.e., Yoko’s Japanese modern aesthetics), contemporary clean lines, and neutral sophisticated color palettes. We have incorporated these interior design elements throughout the home, helping to maximize the space and features available to them while creating a more adult-friendly space to live. Neutral colors allow our clients to continue adding to the home in the future without committing to any colors that they may get tired of after some time. They are a classy option to add to any space and act as the backdrop for any artwork or home accessories that may be added later on.
Yoko’s design inspiration came from the clients’ personalities and the color palettes in their wardrobe. Our wardrobes say so much about us, and it’s a great way to learn more about the clients we are working with. A home needs to reflect the personalities of those living there, giving them a space to come back and relax in Alamo after a busy day.
We utilized the architectural features in their home such as a 22’ high ceiling, the large windows with natural light and the beautiful gardens outside. We incorporated each of these elements in an intentional way, with the goal of creating a home that was distinctive, layered and that felt collected over time. Yoko created a calm, global, understated city vibe in this family home, which is something that can be a challenge to cultivate in the San Francisco Bay Area. We hope the family will enjoy many more years of living in this beautiful property during this new stage in their lives.

Hill Creek is a sophisticated Southern Estate property located on a quiet cove of Lake Tyler. We were commissioned to develop design solutions that would maximize usable space while considering challenging topography. Early in the project, we worked closely with the builder to set the finished floor elevation of the house and remedy drainage problems throughout the construction process. The primary concern for the client early on was how to deal with the transitional zones above and below the house. We had a 40’ grade differential from the front of the house to the lake and we needed to minimize the impact step transitions and retaining walls would have on the aesthetic. The final product was the successful result of an intense collaborative process that often felt more like a game of tug-o-war. Once the front Parking Court retaining walls were laid out and built, We could move on to designing the back pool terrace and tackle the second grade transition from the lakeside Pool deck to the water. There are so many small details that can get overlooked or lost on a project of this scope. The overall charm and beauty achieved here is testimony to the value of positive and often relentless collaboration between Owner, Landscape Architect, Builder and Architect.

Our clients bought two adjacent rowhomes as investment properties, and we designed and completed a gut renovation of each property. Both homes have two units and near-identical floor plans; a 2-bedroom, 2 bath unit in the basement and a larger “primary” unit with 5 bedrooms and 3 ½ baths taking up the top three floors. This project includes a 3rd-floor addition and a rear addition across the back.
This gut remodel creates contemporary living on the bustling 13th street corridor in the sought-after Columbia Heights neighborhood. Light and airy finishes were used throughout.
The first floor has an open concept floor plan with a modern European-style kitchen, white oak hardwood flooring, and luxurious finishes. The clients selected all-electric appliances for greater energy efficiency. The waterfall edge quartz countertop kitchen island features an overhang with bar seating and a chef’s sink. The kitchen cabinets are soft-close with glossy white acrylic uppers and custom teak graining lowers. Large French doors lead from the kitchen to the private rear wood deck, enabling indoor-outdoor living. Additionally, the main floor has a covered patio at the front entrance.
The second and third floors have light and clean bathroom designs and spacious bedrooms with plenty of storage. The bathrooms were designed to emulate a classic luxury style while maintaining easy-to-clean and versatile features, while maximizing a tight space. There is ample natural lighting throughout each property, often a challenge in rowhomes.

Maximize the storage space around a window area with custom cabinets and shelving. Showcase books and other knick knacks or conceal office supplies and equipment in the closed cabinets along the base of the unit.

Designed by Reico Kitchen & Bath in Falls Church, VA in collaboration with contractor Mark Malone, this contemporary inspired kitchen design features Ultracraft Cabinetry in the Slab door style in two finishes.
The base cabinets and standard height level wall cabinets features a Natural Bamboo finish. The stacked wall cabinets above standard white are in a Seneca White finish. Kitchen countertops are Cambria in the color Ferndale.
Additional products not supplied by Reico for this project include: Fireclay Tile 2x8 Peabody Green subway tile backsplash; Mac and Milo Allessandra 1-light Single Bell pendant lights over the peninsula; and a WAC Lighting 35" wide integrated LED chandelier from Lamps Unlimited.
The kitchen also features storage and access on the backside of the kitchen peninsula, where the back of the sink base has been modified to allow for custom access and a cabinet has been installed just to the left of the sink base.
The design was created to maximize the space available, which led to removing a wall and a window while adding skylights to allow for an abundance of natural light in the space. The contractor even added a custom matching knee wall from the cabinet materials, keeping with the overall clean lines and natural wood look of the kitchen.

This visionary homeowner found an idyllic property surrounded by gorgeous pastoral views, fertile soil perfect for a Truffle farm, and an easy distance to downtown Corvallis, Oregon. What was not ideal, however, was the existing house. Built in the 1980’s, this ranch had some undesirably unique features that were not at all the style that our client was imagining for her dream farmhouse.
She came to us with the challenge of transforming this dated ranch into a classic southern style farmhouse complete with covered porches and wood burning fireplaces. She had dreams of hosting large parties as well as intimate family gatherings, requiring a modern open concept layout alongside more secluded areas, all while preserving the traditional aesthetic that she desired.
Having lived in a wide variety of homes around the country, there were some features this homeowner knew she wanted to incorporate into this major rebuild. We thoughtfully considered how to include those elements in the design while addressing several structural challenges, remaining within budget, and creating a final product that would be both stunning and practical.
Historic trim work, white oak flooring, and warm white walls provide the ideal backdrop for showcasing her treasured heirloom rugs and artwork. Incorporating numerous windows on every exterior wall possible, we were able to maximize natural light, and access panoramic views of the countryside, while allowing the fresh air to breeze through. Multiple sets of French doors lead onto the expansive front veranda that wraps around the main living room. This deep, full-length porch is an inviting, shady spot to enjoy the outdoors. The combination of these design features provided the framework to capture the vision she had for her home.

Walk-in closet, designed to maximise space and keep all your clothes and accessories organised. This spaces are created for those who focus on individuality in fashion, value the highest quality and pay extraordinary attention to care for even the smallest detail.
