I immediately focused on the void that was between the two houses and created a timber "temple" that would tie the scale together and create a very warm inviting outdoor space while also creating a covered walk between the two houses. The left cabin was one of the earliest houses after Lake Guntersville was built, and in it's earliest days was simply a fishing and hunting lodge. The house to the right also had a small cabin inside it, but had been enlarged 4 different times, the latest being in a post-modern 1980's style. The owners desired an adirondack look in the final product with the old cabin keeping it's original interiors, but we opened it up by removing inner partitions, the right side house we enclosed the screened porch and installed a more up to date transitional/cottage interior made for entertaining.
