The kitchen includes a 42" french door subzero refrigerator, a 36" BlueStar range top, and separate 30" BlueStar french door wall oven. The island countertop has a 2 1/2" thick mitered edge with lots of seating for bar stools on two sides.

The cabinets were custom designed by Tom, with straight, simple lines, and custom built by Draper DBS of walnut, with a deep, rich brown finish. The richness of the dark cabinetry juxtaposed with the elegance of the white carrara marble on the countertop, wall and floors contributes to the room's sophistication. Ample storage is found in the large vanity and an armoire style cabinet, designed to mimic a free-standing furniture piece, that is positioned behind the door. Architectural beams placed across the vaulted ceiling bring a sense of scale to the room and invite natural light in through the skylight.

Andrew McKinney Photography Not every kitchen on houzz is enormous! Here's a 10' x 10' kitchen. It seems that painted white kitchens never go out of favor. While the cabinets, faucets and hardware lean toward a more traditional look, that look is tempered by the modern lines of grey glass tile and the chimney hood. And instead of carrara marble counter tops, the client opted for quartz for a similar look (Cambria's "Torquay").

The Entire Main Level, Stairwell and Upper Level Hall are wrapped in Shiplap, Painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove. The Flooring, Beams, Mantel and Fireplace TV Doors are all reclaimed barnwood. The inset floor in the dining room is brick veneer. The Fireplace is brick on all sides. The lighting is by Visual Comfort. Largest quartz island in the USA by length with no seam at 11.5 feet long. Calactta Quartz with a 2 1/2 inch mitered edge with a large handcrafted 16 gauge stainless steel sink. Mitered edges are an elegant choice for your kitchen or bathroom countertop edges. The mitered look has a more substantial, thicker appearance than many of our other options. It joins the edges of two pieces to make a precise corner, extending up to 2 1/2 inches. Our ability to match all countertop veining gives this edge a seamless appearance, looking as though the quartz was made for this space.

Although the home is in its 100th year, the owners wanted to create an updated urban style reflective of their downtown location. The new styling, while sleek and contemporary, kept a traditional feel with a paneled door styling, crystal chandeliers and an updated glass version of subway tile. We were also able to create an open kitchen with a 3’8 ½” x 7’ 5 ½” island centered on a gourmet Wolf cooking area.
