This prompted us and the homeowner to create extra square footage around these amenities. The kitchen also received the double island treatment. Allowing guests to be hosted at one of the larger islands (capable of seating 5-6) while hors d'oeuvres and refreshments can be prepared on the smaller more centrally located island, helped these happy hosts to staff and plan events accordingly. Placement of these rooms relative to each other in the floor plan was also key to keeping all of the excitement happening in one place, making regular events easy to monitor, easy to maintain and relatively easy to clean-up. Some other important features that made this house a party-palace were a hidden butler's pantry, multiple wetbars and prep spaces, sectional seating inside and out, and double dining nooks (formal and informal). Wingspan’s gull wing roofs are pitched in two directions and become an outflowing of interiors, lending more or less scale to public and private space within. Beyond the dramatic aesthetics, the roof forms serve to lend the right scale to each interior space below while lifting the eye to light and views of water and sky. This concept begins at the big east porch sheltered under a 15-foot cantilevered roof; neighborhood-friendly porch and entry are adjoined by shared home offices that can monitor the front of the home. The entry acts as a glass lantern at night, greeting the visitor; the interiors then gradually expand to the rear of the home, lending views of park, lake and distant city skyline to key interior spaces such as the bedrooms, living-dining-kitchen and family game/media room.

Designed by Cat Neitzey of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Fredericksburg VA in collaboration with Craig Schafer of ACS Contracting, this kitchen sunroom design features Merillat Classic Tolani cabinets with a Cotton finish on the perimeter and Boardwalk finish on the kitchen island. The kitchen also features a perimeter countertop and full height backsplash in Spectrum Sterling quartz with Caesarstone Turbine on the island and a Kohler Whitehaven Hayridge Farmhouse Cast Iron kitchen sink. “I really enjoyed doing my research to help the client bring their vision to life. They were so open to ideas and my suggestions. The design inspiration was pulled from the client’s love of McGee & Co.'s elegant simplicity and eye for organization detail. I used my favorite floor tile, Grespania Trivoli Blanco, which was so perfect with the Boardwalk maple island. We do not often get to drill into so much detail with cabinet inserts and the functionality of every inch the way this homeowner wanted to. I learned so much from their input,” said Cat. “The choice of the Kohler Whitehaven Hayridge sink is an amazing modern touch. We installed a drip ledge detail below the sink that adds another layer to this focal point. Our biggest challenge was envisioning a new island where a previous peninsula and knee wall were.” “Cat was thorough with timelines and updates,” said the client. “She put us first and what was best for our plan. The kitchen renovation moved quickly and Cat would make spontaneous visits to monitor the project. Cat was definitely a key player and we could not have had a smoother renovation without her!” “Our favorite part of the new kitchen is the island. We choose a different color for the cabinets and countertop. She encouraged working with different colors and elements throughout. Our favorite accessory is the pull out pantry shelves. We added a Double Oven with warming drawer and Built-In Microwave in the island to complete the space. The Low Profile hood and Range is a feature in the large beautiful custom finished mahogany wood island which becomes a great place for entertaining while cooking. This magnificent French inspired home contains 35 rooms, and the project took Anthony Michael Interior Design over six years to complete. Anthony was involved from the ground up, and played a key role in EVERY facet of the design, finishes and architecture, as well as the exterior grounds, iron gates, pavilion, statuary, fountains, etc. ( Anthony bought the iron pavillion from the Coca cola estate in Atlanta GA.) Flying to Paris seven times in one year to monitor the progress on the stone fabrication, and sourcing antiquities. This home was truly a labor of love, and Anthony put his heart and soul into this magnificent tribute to Louis XVI. Currently the highest priced real estate listing in Chicago at $50,000,000.

For those who want more of a good thing, we offer our Tealight 4 plan. This is the only Tealight home design that comes standard with three bedrooms (which can easily become four) plus a loft. You’ll see that the living room, kitchen and other spaces are just a bit more, well, spacious. You may also notice that the master bedroom is placed over the garage. This arrangement not only expands the upstairs, it lets you monitor when your teenager gets home at night. Which is also a good thing.

The goal of this remodel was to add fun and function to this modest 2,500SF home. The kitchen’s flat ceiling was peeled away leaving custom RGB illuminated light monitors. The monitors add a dynamic colored layer of indirect light to the kitchen. Accent lighting triplets illuminate the breakfast table to make centerpieces pop while providing ample lighting for homework and reading the newspaper. The remaining downlights raise the level of general lighting in the kitchen. Lighting controls provide access to individual dimming of the 8 lighting loads in the kitchen as well as scene control for ease of access to the preset levels. In the foreground an LED strip washes the face of the bar front, illuminating the barstools and bringing light down to the human level. Ambient lighting is achieved through indirect lighting on top of the cabinets and task lighting floats down onto the counter and sink from a modern sconce and linear LED undercabinet lighting.
