A Modern Farmhouse set in a prairie setting exudes charm and simplicity. Wrap around porches and copious windows make outdoor/indoor living seamless while the interior finishings are extremely high on detail. In floor heating under porcelain tile in the entire lower level, Fond du Lac stone mimicking an original foundation wall and rough hewn wood finishes contrast with the sleek finishes of carrera marble in the master and top of the line appliances and soapstone counters of the kitchen. This home is a study in contrasts, while still providing a completely harmonious aura.

This light and airy kitchen combines traditional accents with transitional ones.
Black honed granite counter tops are balanced by dark accents through out the space like the slat-back island stools, lantern pendant fixtures above, and bronze hardware on doors.
The light stone on the kitchen island work beautifully with white cabinets, Nickel pulls, and Nickel plumbing fixtures.
The kitchen's honed stone counter top is repeated at the pass-through to the dining room. The counter top is supported by curvy decorative brackets that are a great balance to the rectilinear characteristics of the shaker style kitchen cabinets.
Architectural millwork and column at Dining Room entry add a traditional element to this relaxed space.
The combinations of all these finishes bring personalty and warmth to the home.

The lake side of the kitchen has windows on two sides to maximize the view. Four custom tilt-in windows allow the outdoor counter on the deck to be served from inside the kitchen. Concrete countertops, hickory floors, a center island, and farm sink are key elements in this kitchen.

This vast and open kitchen showcases the great match of a white shaker cabinets with Raven caeser stone quartz counter and the island made of gray shaker cabinets with white Carrara marble counter.
To tie the two of them together we have used 6x3 tumbled white Carrara back-splash tile in a staggered layout with a center mosaic deco area above the Range unit.
To give it the additional modern feel you have the stainless steel appliances such as a Sub-zero build-in fridge, the range unit and the large stainless steel pendant lights.

This spacious kitchen in Westchester County is flooded with light from huge windows on 3 sides of the kitchen plus two skylights in the vaulted ceiling. The dated kitchen was gutted and reconfigured to accommodate this large kitchen with crisp white cabinets and walls. Ship lap paneling on both walls and ceiling lends a casual-modern charm while stainless steel toe kicks, walnut accents and Pietra Cardosa limestone bring both cool and warm tones to this clean aesthetic. This Mediterranean style kitchen offers a warmth that is achieve due to the attention to details. The under-the-counter dried herb display is perfect for the ultimate chef kitchen. Zinc counter tops, copper details on the hood backsplash and island offer a mix of surfaces from both a visual and a culinary perspective, Pot fills, and foot pedals were incorporated by the designer. Plus many eclectic touches like the hand carved, claw feet on the hammered copper farmhouse sink. What fun!

Atop a ridge in the Santa Lucia mountains of Carmel, California, an oak tree stands elevated above the fog and wrapped at its base in this ranch retreat. The weekend home’s design grew around the 100-year-old Valley Oak to form a horseshoe-shaped house that gathers ridgeline views of Oak, Madrone, and Redwood groves at its exterior and nestles around the tree at its center. The home’s orientation offers both the shade of the oak canopy in the courtyard and the sun flowing into the great room at the house’s rear façades.
This modern take on a traditional ranch home offers contemporary materials and landscaping to a classic typology. From the main entry in the courtyard, one enters the home’s great room and immediately experiences the dramatic westward views across the 70 foot pool at the house’s rear. In this expansive public area, programmatic needs flow and connect - from the kitchen, whose windows face the courtyard, to the dining room, whose doors slide seamlessly into walls to create an outdoor dining pavilion. The primary circulation axes flank the internal courtyard, anchoring the house to its site and heightening the sense of scale by extending views outward at each of the corridor’s ends. Guest suites, complete with private kitchen and living room, and the garage are housed in auxiliary wings connected to the main house by covered walkways.
Building materials including pre-weathered corrugated steel cladding, buff limestone walls, and large aluminum apertures, and the interior palette of cedar-clad ceilings, oil-rubbed steel, and exposed concrete floors soften the modern aesthetics into a refined but rugged ranch home.

This butler’s pantry adds a functional and beautifully detailed transition space off the main kitchen, featuring custom cabinetry, glass-front upper cabinets, marble countertops, and a warm wood serving counter. The arched walkway leads toward additional pantry storage, while the mirrored backsplash and built-in sink area create an elegant prep and serving zone for entertaining. With traditional cabinetry, Spanish-inspired architecture, and thoughtful storage details, this space supports the home’s larger kitchen design while adding its own refined character.

In this new construction luxury home, the kitchen is truly the center of the home. Centered between the outdoor living space, the interior living room, the kitchen is perfect for large group entertaining or just daily living. Marble counters, elegant pendant lighting, and storage for days makes this kitchen a true show-stopper.

The guest bathroom has porcelain wall tile with a feature detail that is a marble chevron mosaic, which accentuates the shower window we had to work around. The custom cabinetry design and 2.5" mitered edge quartz counter tops make this bathroom something special.

This view from the dining table shows how well the renovated kitchen blends with the rest of the house. No longer dark and choppy, the bright, flowing floorplan provides a clear line of vision from the back hallway all the way to the front door. Natural light floods the interior, breathing new life into the house. What a fresh, elegant design for home that was originally built in the 40’s!

The client’s brief was to create a space reminiscent of their beloved downtown Chicago industrial loft, in a rural farm setting, while incorporating their unique collection of vintage and architectural salvage. The result is a custom designed space that blends life on the farm with an industrial sensibility.
The new house is located on approximately the same footprint as the original farm house on the property. Barely visible from the road due to the protection of conifer trees and a long driveway, the house sits on the edge of a field with views of the neighbouring 60 acre farm and creek that runs along the length of the property.
The main level open living space is conceived as a transparent social hub for viewing the landscape. Large sliding glass doors create strong visual connections with an adjacent barn on one end and a mature black walnut tree on the other.
The house is situated to optimize views, while at the same time protecting occupants from blazing summer sun and stiff winter winds. The wall to wall sliding doors on the south side of the main living space provide expansive views to the creek, and allow for breezes to flow throughout. The wrap around aluminum louvered sun shade tempers the sun.
The subdued exterior material palette is defined by horizontal wood siding, standing seam metal roofing and large format polished concrete blocks.
The interiors were driven by the owners’ desire to have a home that would properly feature their unique vintage collection, and yet have a modern open layout. Polished concrete floors and steel beams on the main level set the industrial tone and are paired with a stainless steel island counter top, backsplash and industrial range hood in the kitchen. An old drinking fountain is built-in to the mudroom millwork, carefully restored bi-parting doors frame the library entrance, and a vibrant antique stained glass panel is set into the foyer wall allowing diffused coloured light to spill into the hallway. Upstairs, refurbished claw foot tubs are situated to view the landscape.
The double height library with mezzanine serves as a prominent feature and quiet retreat for the residents. The white oak millwork exquisitely displays the homeowners’ vast collection of books and manuscripts. The material palette is complemented by steel counter tops, stainless steel ladder hardware and matte black metal mezzanine guards. The stairs carry the same language, with white oak open risers and stainless steel woven wire mesh panels set into a matte black steel frame.
The overall effect is a truly sublime blend of an industrial modern aesthetic punctuated by personal elements of the owners’ storied life.
