Our clients were clear on what they sought for their backyard transformation; an outdoor space that provided multiple areas that would accommodate private get-togethers and intimate lounging while ensuring that the garden had enough vegetation and storage space for the owner's collection of bicycles.
Making use of the long rear yard site lines was essential to improve social gatherings while still maintaining privacy and individual function, including BBQ and dining, lounging, spa, bike shed with green roof and gardens.
In the front, we kept it simple and elegant with a parking pad and landscaping to hide the two air conditioners under the front window.

The Aim suspension lamps feature playful, minimalist design, which create a vivacious tangle of wires that seems to develop and grow like branches or climbing plants. The directionable body is in varnished aluminum sheet, the shade in photo-etched optical polycarbonate. The cable has a useful length of 354 inches (9m) so the lamp can be suspended 118 inches (3m) from the ceiling. A wall plug version also exists. There is a multiple rose with capacity to connect up to 5 Aims available.

Our Seattle studio gave this dated family home a fabulous facelift with bright interiors, stylish furnishings, and thoughtful decor. We kept all the original interior doors but gave them a beautiful coat of paint and fitted stylish matte black hardware to provide them with that extra elegance. Painting the millwork a creamy light grey color created a fun, unique contrast against the white walls. We opened up walls to create a spacious great room, perfect for this family who loves to entertain. We reimagined the existing pantry as a wet bar, currently a hugely popular spot in the home. To create a seamless indoor-outdoor living space, we used NanaWall doors off the kitchen and living room, allowing our clients to have an open atmosphere in their backyard oasis and covered front deck. Heaters were also added to the front porch ensuring they could enjoy it during all seasons. We used durable furnishings throughout the home to accommodate the growing needs of their two small kids and two dogs. Neutral finishes, warm wood tones, and pops of color achieve a light and airy look reminiscent of the coastal appeal of Puget Sound – only a couple of blocks away from this home. We ensured that we delivered a bold, timeless home to our clients, with every detail reflecting their beautiful personalities.
Find the right local pro for your project

Our homeowners approached us for design help shortly after purchasing a fixer upper. They wanted to redesign the home into an open concept plan. Their goal was something that would serve multiple functions: allow them to entertain small groups while accommodating their two small children not only now but into the future as they grow up and have social lives of their own. They wanted the kitchen opened up to the living room to create a Great Room. The living room was also in need of an update including the bulky, existing brick fireplace. They were interested in an aesthetic that would have a mid-century flair with a modern layout. We added built-in cabinetry on either side of the fireplace mimicking the wood and stain color true to the era. The adjacent Family Room, needed minor updates to carry the mid-century flavor throughout.

This home addition was intended to expand the home to provide the space needed for the growing new family. The existing kitchen was gutted, expanded and opened up to a family room and nook area. Custom inset cabinets were our preference; however cost was a significant concern. The owner researched multiple companies and standard product lines to save on her budget. After careful analysis, we discovered that it was just as cost effective to use the local custom cabinet maker we preferred. This allowed for more precise detailing and unique features. The goal of a classical farm house kitchen character updated with modern features was able to be obtained much to the home owner's delight.
A family room was added to this home, opening up to a screen porch that takes advantage of a previously unused side yard. The much needed new rear entry provides the family a space for their laundry room and is now the primary entry point from the detached garage. Great care was taken to ensure that the home’s new detailing could have been built this way originally. The space however needed to have a modern function for a modern family. The homes existing exterior had aluminum siding and trim which concealed original millwork and shingles. When the nondescript materials were removed, it was discovered that the original was in poor condition. Careful attention was taken to replace and/or repair original materials wherever possible around the entire home, in order to create a seamless exterior character.

This once unused bonus room was transformed into a wonderful new bedroom for a boy with lots of room to grow, play and have sleepovers. We took advantage of the attic space either side of the room by recessing the TV / storage area and also on the opposite side with the double desk unit. The room was separated by the sets of drawers that have custom headboards at the back of them, this helping with the great length of this room. Custom bookcase shelving was made for the window wall to also create not only depth but display as well. The clients as well as their son are enjoying the room!

Growing and enjoying their own food means this kitchen is used all day long. Its spacious custom blue painted island with quartz countertop from Mont Surfaces in “Nobility” is the perfect place for cleaning just picked produce. The professional dual fuel range from Thermador offers cooking capacity for multiple dishes at once. Perimeter cabinets from Grabill Cabinets in their Olde Towne door style and Glacier paint finish offer ample storage for kitchen tools.

Formerly, a pink-inspired bathroom from the 80s, with no natural light, the 2nd floor guest bathroom lacked usable space for a growing family. By reconfiguring the layout both bathrooms on the 2nd floor, we gained valuable space to add a window AND bring the laundry units from the basement, to the 2nd floor. With our urging, our clients agreed to let us design a double vanity - knowing that it would be helpful for multiple kids who didn't want to share a sink down the road.

This growing family wanted to open, expand and re-style their outdated, boxed-in kitchen. They also sought to include a number of professional appliance in the design: a larger refrigerator, double wall oven, cooktop, wine fridge, microwave and dishwasher. The challenge was to fit all of these appliances in a kitchen without a lot of wall space because of the multiple door and window openings. In addition, they wanted an eat-in counter area with room for four seats.
The client's needs were met by removing the structural wall between the kitchen and the family room, which created an open floor plan for both rooms. A wall between the kitchen and hallway was also removed to further open up the kitchen and create a natural traffic flow between kitchen and living room. The limited wall counter space was enhanced by the addition of a large island that functions also as a casual dining space. The kitchen’s stylish look stems from newly installed recessed lighting, semi-custom cabinets, wood flooring, and matching professional grade appliances.

The window shades are called pirouette and they come in a variety of colors. In this kitchen, the sage green pirouette matches the glass inset in the cabinets. Hunter Douglas Pirouette provides an elegant look with sophisticated functionality.
The Hunter Douglas Pirouette gives the look of a roman shade with the functionality of a silhouette sheer shade. The Pirouette’s fabric vanes open to a sheer fabric to provide a view through area and allowing light into the room. The sheer fabric provides protection from the harsh UV rays. The shade also closes completely for privacy. The Pirouette has the look of roman shades with the functionality of blinds. The Pirouette also comes in specialty shades that can fit many types of windows such as, arches or angles.
The structure of the Pirouette is clean and elegant because the lifting system for the vanes have the patented Invisi-Lift system. This system allows the floating vanes to operate without having the unsightly cords or tapes. The vanes of the Hunter Douglas Pirouette can be flattened or contoured for complete privacy or opened for wide view-through.
Protect your wood flooring, furniture or artwork from the damaging ultraviolet rays. The Pirouette Roman Shades block up to 81% of the harmful UV rays with vanes open and 99% with the vanes closed. There is a large selection of fabrics to choose from and two vane sizes.
The Pirouette can also be operated manually or by remote control. Hunter Douglas has an app that can control the Pirouette on your iPhone or iPad.

This custom home addition was designed to give a growing family the flexibility, organization, and functional living space they were missing. The project includes a multi-purpose downstairs family lounge with custom built-ins and a three-person workstation, an upstairs flex room featuring a custom Murphy bed and tailored storage, and a moody mid-century modern bathroom with a curbless shower and integrated storage. Every space was thoughtfully designed to serve multiple functions while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic, creating a home that adapts effortlessly to work, hobbies, guests, and everyday family life.

This economical ranch house plan gains character and curb appeal from its charming front porch and multiple gables with decorative wood brackets, and its simplified, squared off design makes it practical to build. A tray ceiling and columns offer definition to the open dining room, while the great room and kitchen are enhanced by a cathedral ceiling. Built-in shelves flank the fireplace, and a rear deck expands the great room further. The kitchen sports a convenient U-shape, and its open design keeps the cook in the heart of family activities. A popular split bedroom design places the master suite to one side of the house plan with its own bath and his and her walk-in closets. A bonus room over the garage provides options for growing families.

This young family purchased their first home in 2021, and let's say it was full of original 1970s charm - i.e., nothing had been done to this house in the past 50 years.
We had recently completed a project for a family member, so they called us in to help. During our initial consultation, they shared a modest project budget, and we explained that we wouldn't be able to accomplish much on such a limited budget. Several weeks passed, and they ultimately raised their funding, and we signed on for the job.
Even after doubling their budget, we still had our work cut out for us. The original kitchen was very small in comparison to the square footage of the home, and opening up the space meant we needed to add two structural beams between the first and second stories.
These homeowners already had one small child, and were expecting another in the coming months. They also have large families in the area, so creating an ample gathering space for multiple cooks was crucial to the final layout. Some of their wish list items included a bar and a large island with plenty of seating. They also wanted the kitchen open to the family room.
This home had a formal and informal dining area, so we opted to absorb the casual eating area into the newly expanded kitchen floorplan. We relocated their laundry room to create an extended family room, which included the new bar area. We were also able to use the under-stair space to create a kitchen pantry. The kitchen transformed from 115 sq. ft. to a spacious 260 sq. ft., all within existing poorly used space. We were able to create clear sightlines to the backyard and pool from the new kitchen and family room, perfect for a young family.
Aesthetically speaking, our clients wanted a neutral space that could grow and change with their family. We kept the expensive items like cabinets, countertops, and tile in classic finishes like whites and navy blues, while we had more fun with things like the faucet, hardware, and light fixtures that could easily be updated over the years. The finished product is a warm, clean, family-friendly space that invites you to come in and pull up a chair.
