Not only did the designers strive for a clean design throughout the gallery, but also continued the theme through to the adjoining wine cellar and tasting room, office area and full bath. The home office is enclosed by bright yellow shelving and custom desk space by Neff, as well as a “secret” door that doubles as another surface on which to hang art.

This home is a modern farmhouse on the outside with an open-concept floor plan and nautical/midcentury influence on the inside! From top to bottom, this home was completely customized for the family of four with five bedrooms and 3-1/2 bathrooms spread over three levels of 3,998 sq. ft. This home is functional and utilizes the space wisely without feeling cramped. Some of the details that should be highlighted in this home include the 5” quartersawn oak floors, detailed millwork including ceiling beams, abundant natural lighting, and a cohesive color palate. Melanie Roy’s challenge in designing an extremely functional mud room to accommodate a busy family’s needs was to create a place for everything from crab nets and straw mats in metal buckets to beach towels, flip flops, balls and various summer paraphernalia in wire baskets. The challenge was that the room had no cubbies so boat cleats were used for hanging items up and out of the way and baskets and buckets for easy-access storage under a rough-hewn table. She created a beach theme by anchoring the space with a Stark rug with a wave design. Artists’ rendered surfboards are decorative but often accompany surfboards that are constantly in use. A window seat/bench is upholstered in a waterproof Duralee fabric, piped with jute, so you can sit on it even in a wet bathing suit. Inspiration for a coastal formal carpeted living room remodel in Salt Lake City with gray walls

Wine is one of the few things in life that improves with age. But it can also rapidly deteriorate. The three factors that have the most direct impact on a wine's condition are light, humidity and temperature. Because wine can often be expensive and often appreciate in value, security is another issue. This basement-remodeling project began with ensuring the quality and security of the owner’s wine collection. Even more important, the remodeled basement had to become an inviting place for entertaining family and friends. A wet bar/entertainment area became the centerpiece of the design. Cherry wood cabinets and stainless steel appliances complement the counter tops, which are made with a special composite material and designed for bar glassware - softer to the touch than granite. Unused space below the stairway was turned into a secure wine storage room, and another cherry wood cabinet holds 300 bottles of wine in a humidity and temperature controlled refrigeration unit. The basement remodeling project also includes an entertainment center and cozy fireplace. The basement-turned-entertainment room is controlled with a two-zone heating system to moderate both temperature and humidity. To infuse a nautical theme a custom stairway post was created to simulate the mast from a 1905 vintage sailboat. The mast/post was hand-crafted from mahogany and steel banding.

The newly remodeled family room has new hardwood floors and French doors which lead out to a large backyard patio. A new built-in entertainment center with bookshelves and storage was added. The custom upholstered armchairs and sofa are in cream colors with patterned pillows, lending to the nautical beach theme. A blue accent wall lends to the blue hues throughout the home. A custom cocktail table and side tables were designed specifically for this home. The new open floor plan makes the family room visible from the entry and open to the kitchen. The backside of the fireplace has a hint to the nautical theme with white painted wood and new nickel fireplace doors. A commissioned painting hangs near the French doors; it coordinates with the mural painted in the powder room. Shiplap paneling (5 1/2" pine) was added to both the Family Room and Dining Room walls and painted to match the cabinetry; it plays to the nautical theme of the original “Top Sail” design of the townhome. Glass shelving from Reston Glass in the built-ins keeps the look light and is perfect for display. He commissioned architect Matthew Stratton, interior designer Jennifer Corredor, builder Denis Savoie and landscape architect Craig Reynolds to create his dream home. The plan: to set the stage for his proposal to then girlfriend, Judy, and embark on a new phase of his life. Embracing a modern take on the Key West style famed for its pastel-hued, conch-style houses and laid-back attitude, Corredor designed a simple, elegant and unpretentious interior scheme for this 3,900-square-foot home. A tropical sensation flows freely with natural materials and a color palette that reflect the island’s backdrop of sandy beaches, brilliant skies and cresting ocean waves. Polished white-glass tile flooring downstairs contrasts with African teak wood flooring upstairs, while cherry wood paneling and custom wall treatments create texture. To the breezy blue and white theme throughout, the designer added a zest of coral, inspired by the Royal Poinciana tree that frames the arbor by the pool. “The whole idea with ocean hues and wood tones is to emulate the surroundings,” Corredor says. “I think these elements add character to a space, as well as warmth.” The great room reflects Corredor’s light airy approach. In the living area, accent pillows with a coral-print fabric and an “Axiom Glass Thorn” coral-hued bowl, both from Coconut Grove Gallery, add a dash of color as well as organic curves that augment the lines of the sofa and contrast with the angular glass tables. An ode to the home’s Key West atmosphere, Flower In Movement, a painting by artist Martha Dominguez, combines a floral motif with a wavy dimension that echoes the gardens as well as the ocean. “The architect used a NanaWall, which is a special feature,” Corredor says. “It can be pulled all the way back, entirely open, to create a seamless feel that the room carries on from inside to outside.” “SET AMIDST LUSH BOTANICAL GARDENS, THE HOUSE HAS A BEACHY, SPA-LIKE ATMOSPHERE THAT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE FLOATING,” INTERIOR DESIGNER JENNIFER CORREDOR SAYS. Our goal on this project was to make the main floor of this lovely early 20th century home in a popular Vancouver neighborhood work for a growing family of four. We opened up the space, both literally and aesthetically, with windows and skylights, an efficient layout, some carefully selected furniture pieces and a soft colour palette that lends a light and playful feel to the space. Our clients can hardly believe that their once small, dark, uncomfortable main floor has become a bright, functional and beautiful space where they can now comfortably host friends and hang out as a family.
