Inspiration for a transitional dark wood floor family room remodel in Houston with gray walls

A young family came to me with the request to create a tailored, elegant and fashionable home. We set out to create a cosmopolitan sanctuary that was airy and bright with layers of contemporary motifs throughout to compliment the dignified architecture of the apartment.

The master bedroom is split into this room with original fireplace, a sitting room and private porch. A wainscoting wall painted Sherwin Williams Mount Etna anchors the bed.

The walls are covered in a linen paper which , along with the crunchy sisal carpet, adds texture and warmth.

The entry area became an 'urban mudroom' with ample storage and a small clean workspace that can also serve as an additional sleeping area if needed.
