This creative couple wanted their backyard divided into several spaces for multiple uses. Nearest the house is a concrete patio for lounging and entertaining. The middle area has raised beds for vegetable gardening and rounded pea gravel where their toddler can play safely. A lovely dry creek bed with river rocks and plants divides that area from the rear section. There you will find a metal sculptor's shed and a paver patio that surrounds the lemon tree, providing access to plant beds and a viewing area for whimsical, homemade sculptures.

From cramped and closed off to a more open and efficient guest bath. We used a lovely aqua Thibaut wallpaper to add some texture and kept the cabinets and shower a soft white. Before the shower was completely compartmentalized. We opened up the wall nearest the door and added glass to open the whole space right up!

In this renovation project, I applied my "Clever Space" solution tactic.
The useless nearest hallway was added to the 5x7 bathroom to make it looks spacious, comfortable and accommodate a washing machine. Originally it was mosaic accents as a part of a design project but my client decided to go with the neutral color palette.

Mixed perennials beds of garden peonies, prairie dropseed grass, and May Night salvia fill the beds nearest the home. A more naturalistic, but controlled hand is employed here. A Kentucky wisteria vine is trained to cover a stained, cedar pergola over a detailed patio room. Under the arbor a triple stretcher of Waukesha Buff cobbles borders a herringbone inlay of Whiteacre Greer brick pavers. In the center is another detailed inlay of the cobbles. It is surrounded by a field of full-range bluestone paving. Stairs lead down from the family room and kitchen to this space.
