This kitchen had the old laundry room in the corner and there was no pantry. We converted the old laundry into a pantry/laundry combination. The hand carved travertine farm sink is the focal point of this beautiful new kitchen. Notice the clean backsplash with no electrical outlets. All of the electrical outlets, switches and lights are under the cabinets leaving the uninterrupted backslash. The rope lighting on top of the cabinets adds a nice ambiance or night light. For his new swimming pool, Client specified Day-1 visual privacy from neighbors, including from neighbors' 2nd floor windows. We used graduated heights of rubro (phyllostachys Rubromarginata) up to 25' tall, average density 8 canes per linear foot, with greater density targeted to neighbors' sightlines into pool area. Entire hedge was surrounded with HDPE root-barrier to prevent bamboo from travelling into Client's pool lawn and to neighbors' property.

Mid-sized traditional beige two-story vinyl gable roof idea in Portland Maine

This project reimagines an under-used back yard in Portland, Oregon, creating an urban garden with an adjacent writer’s studio. Taking inspiration from Japanese precedents, we conceived of a paving scheme with planters, a cedar soaking tub, a fire pit, and a seven-foot-tall cedar fence. The fence is sheathed on both sides to afford greater privacy as well as ensure the neighbors enjoy a well-made fence too. Photo: Anna M Campbell: annamcampbell.com
