This chic high rise apartment is the home to empty nesters who were ready for a dose of clean contemporary glam. The kitchen was renovated to open it up to light and panoramic views of lower Westchester. Pale gray high gloss handle-less cabinetry is punctuated with touches of polished chrome. Automated Aventos lifters operate every door, and a polished chrome tall cabinet holds the homeowner’s treasured glass and porcelain collection. Wallpapers by Phillip Jeffries clad the walls and back of the tall china cabinet, adding textural contrast to the slick finishes. A built in banquette was added to the breakfast area for a clean but luxurious feel.

Designed for homeowners who want unique color variations within each board, Silver Oak(R) in the AZEK Deck Arbor Collection(R) was designed as a decking color option that resembled the look and feel of high quality wood but with the durability, stain and scratch resistance of AZEK Deck. Silver Oak has the aged look of teak with the rich personality of weathered wood. The subtle grain pattern of Silver Oak allows all of the warm, vibrant wood tones and natural color variations to show through with richness and elegance. Paired with AZEK Trademark Railing, this entire deck and rail project offerslow maintenance with long lasting beauty and durability. AZEK Deck products carry a limited lifetime warranty and are designed to last beautifully.

The 800 square-foot guest cottage is located on the footprint of a slightly smaller original cottage that was built three generations ago. With a failing structural system, the existing cottage had a very low sloping roof, did not provide for a lot of natural light and was not energy efficient. Utilizing high performing windows, doors and insulation, a total transformation of the structure occurred. A combination of clapboard and shingle siding, with standout touches of modern elegance, welcomes guests to their cozy retreat. The cottage consists of the main living area, a small galley style kitchen, master bedroom, bathroom and sleeping loft above. The loft construction was a timber frame system utilizing recycled timbers from the Balsams Resort in northern New Hampshire. The stones for the front steps and hearth of the fireplace came from the existing cottage’s granite chimney. Stylistically, the design is a mix of both a “Cottage” style of architecture with some clean and simple “Tech” style features, such as the air-craft cable and metal railing system. The color red was used as a highlight feature, accentuated on the shed dormer window exterior frames, the vintage looking range, the sliding doors and other interior elements. Richard Mandelkorn A newly connected hallway leading to the master suite had the added benefit of a new laundry closet squeezed in; the original home had a cramped closet in the kitchen downstairs. The space was made efficient with a countertop for folding, a hanging drying rack and cabinet for storage. All is concealed by a traditional barn door, and lit by a new expansive window opposite.

This clean profile, streamlined kitchen embodies today's transitional look. The white painted perimeter cabinetry contrasts the grey stained island, while perfectly blending cool and warm tones.

The remodeled kitchen expanded into the oversized dining room, making space for a large island, double ovens, ample storage, custom cabinetry, and a large range top, perfect for entertaining. A coffered ceiling adds character and elegance. Recessed lighting, pendants, and in- and under-cabinet lighting offer a warm glow and provide task lighting for meal prep.
