DOWNLOAD NOW   Working with this Glen Ellyn client was so much fun the first time around, we were thrilled when they called to say they were considering moving across town and might need some help with a bit of design work at the new house. The kitchen in the new house had been recently renovated, but it was not exactly what they wanted. What started out as a few tweaks led to a pretty big overhaul of the kitchen, mudroom and laundry room. Luckily, we were able to use re-purpose the old kitchen cabinetry and custom island in the remodeling of the new laundry room — win-win! As parents of two young girls, it was important for the homeowners to have a spot to store equipment, coats and all the “behind the scenes” necessities away from the main part of the house which is a large open floor plan. The existing basement mudroom and laundry room had great bones and both rooms were very large. To make the space more livable and comfortable, we laid slate tile on the floor and added a built-in desk area, coat/boot area and some additional tall storage. We also reworked the staircase, added a new stair runner, gave a facelift to the walk-in closet at the foot of the stairs, and built a coat closet. The end result is a multi-functional, large comfortable room to come home to! Just beyond the mudroom is the new laundry room where we re-used the cabinets and island from the original kitchen. The new laundry room also features a small powder room that used to be just a toilet in the middle of the room. You can see the island from the old kitchen that has been repurposed for a laundry folding table. The other countertops are maple butcherblock, and the gold accents from the other rooms are carried through into this room. We were also excited to unearth an existing window and bring some light into the room. In our blog we are excited to share the new villa project in Palm Jumeirah. Mind-blowing, man-made island Palm Jumeirah as if transferred from the pages of science fiction novels in the desert is considered one of the boldest engineering structures. And this new villa project is a laconic continuation of innovation of modern luxury. The main motive of this wonderful interior story is a wonderful cool oasis in the desert. In the interior by a nice range of cool colors is dominated. Interior Designers Dubai of Luxury Antonovich Design Studio masterfully used such a traditional material as glass. Balustrades of staircases and decorative panels with LED backlight are made of transparent glass. White marble supports the mood of wonderful pleasant coolness. In the Modern villa design some remodeling was provided. Interior designers have achieved amazing effect of infinite luxury space. Illumination plays no less important role in the project. The traditional crystal chandeliers are complemented by accents of LED backlighting and illuminated panels made of semiprecious stones. The variety of spectacular design techniques in the decoration of the walls became the basis of a unique and artistically expressive image of the interior.

This master bath remodel is a major lifestyle enhancement for a disabled client. The newly constructed shower was created with numerous Universal Design and Aging in Place features for all three people who use the shower, the client, her husband and the caregiver. Small slip-resistant tiles were selected for the floor and the bench gives the option to sit or stand, to help prevent back strain. The floating bench is also designed for the husband, for present and future use as he grows older. Non-institutional looking decorative grab bars and shampoo niches are strategically placed at sitting and standing heights for easy reach. A beautiful bay window ledge holds shower supplies and decorative accessories. The spacious roll-in shower allows the woman to enter on her scooter. Her caregiver can safely transfer her to the shower chair, remove the original scooter from the wet area, and then have the necessary room to maneuver all around the client for comfortable and safe bathing. A stationary shower head was included, as well as a handheld shower head on a slide bar with it’s own temperature control. The main shower head control is positioned at the front entrance to warm up the water before entering, preventing cold water shock. A heat / vent / light was also added to aid in air quality control. Great grids! The simulated divided lite grids (a.k.a. muntins) in these Harvey Tribute double hung windows are done in a 4-over-1 pattern, a great choice for smaller windows like this, or for when you want grids but don't want to obstruct too much of your view.

The original patio was about 274 square feet and we added 352 square feet. The total entertaining space is now over 600 square feet! The house also backs up to water so they wanted an outdoor space to spend watching the beautiful backdrop. As we extended the roof line, the homeowners agreed that an open gable would be too open, therefore we ended up with the hip roof with an added, smaller open gable. That allows some additional natural light to come through with their high living room windows. The fireplace was placed in the corner next to the home wall rather than out on the perimeter because we didn't want to take away from the view to the back. The outdoor kitchen is situated conveniently near the back door for transferring kitchen items. TK IMAGES
