Modern Farm House Designed and Built by Mark Olson, Olson Development LLC. This one level home had a courtyard in the middle, with and exterior fireplace. All the stones on the fireplace are from this very land.

This project is an incredible transformation and the perfect example of successful style mixing! This client, and now a good friend of TVL (as they all become), is a wonderfully eclectic and adventurous one with immense interest in texture play, pops of color, and unique applications. Our scope in this home included a full kitchen renovation, main level powder room renovation, and a master bathroom overhaul. Taking just over a year to complete from the first design phases to final photos, this project was so insanely fun and packs an amazing amount of fun details and lively surprises. The original kitchen was large and fairly functional. However, the cabinetry was dated, the lighting was inefficient and frankly ugly, and the space was lacking personality in general. Our client desired maximized storage and a more personalized aesthetic. The existing cabinets were short and left the nice height of the space under-utilized. We integrated new gray shaker cabinets from Waypoint Living Spaces and ran them to the ceiling to really exaggerate the height of the space and to maximize usable storage as much as possible. The upper cabinets are glass and lit from within, offering display space or functional storage as the client needs. The central feature of this space is the large cobalt blue range from Viking as well as the custom made reclaimed wood range hood floating above. The backsplash along this entire wall is vertical slab of marble look quartz from Pental Surfaces. This matches the expanse of the same countertop that wraps the room. Flanking the range, we installed cobalt blue lantern penny tile from Merola Tile for a playful texture that adds visual interest and class to the entire room. We upgraded the lighting in the ceiling, under the cabinets, and within cabinets--we also installed accent sconces over each window on the sink wall to create cozy and functional illumination. The deep, textured front Whitehaven apron sink is a dramatic nod to the farmhouse aesthetic from KOHLER, and it's paired with the bold and industrial inspired Tournant faucet, also from Kohler. We finalized this space with other gorgeous appliances, a super sexy dining table and chair set from Room & Board, the Paxton dining light from Pottery Barn and a small bar area and pantry on the far end of the space. In the small powder room on the main level, we converted a drab builder-grade space into a super cute, rustic-inspired washroom. We utilized the Bonner vanity from Signature Hardware and paired this with the cute Ashfield faucet from Pfister. The most unique statements in this room include the water-drop light over the vanity from Shades Of Light, the copper-look porcelain floor tile from Pental Surfaces and the gorgeous Cashmere colored Tresham toilet from Kohler. Up in the master bathroom, elegance abounds. Using the same footprint, we upgraded everything in this space to reflect the client's desire for a more bright, patterned and pretty space. Starting at the entry, we installed a custom reclaimed plank barn door with bold large format hardware from Rustica Hardware. In the bathroom, the custom slate blue vanity from Tharp Cabinet Company is an eye catching statement piece. This is paired with gorgeous hardware from Amerock, vessel sinks from Kohler, and Purist faucets also from Kohler. We replaced the old built-in bathtub with a new freestanding soaker from Signature Hardware. The floor tile is a bold, graphic porcelain tile with a classic color scheme. The shower was upgraded with new tile and fixtures throughout: new clear glass, gorgeous distressed subway tile from the Castle line from TileBar, and a sophisticated shower panel from Vigo. We finalized the space with a small crystal chandelier and soft gray paint. This project is a stunning conversion and we are so thrilled that our client can enjoy these personalized spaces for years to come. This custom live edge walnut table was constructed from a 2″ thick walnut slab and beautifully combined with a glass insert. The live edge runs along inside the middle (under the glass edge), which protects it from wear (and from snagging clothes and skin). As you can see, the hallway in the photo is characterized by spaciousness and light. There are few pieces of furniture in the hallway. A few big wardrobes are placed along the hall wall. In the middle of this room, there is a beautiful carpet, which acts as a decorative element here. Also, you can see here an elegant pendant lamp mounted directly above the carpet. This gorgeous contemporary glass front custom wine cellar in Corona Del Mar, Newport Beach, California is an eye catcher. The sleek, glass ultra modern wine room was a unique and exciting project for our team here at Vintage Cellars. The stone bar extends into the wine cellar itself, but due to mechanical, cooling, and condensation concerns, our expert custom wine cellar team knew that extra measures needed to be taken to ensure the end quality remained top notch. The bar itself was divided into two sections, one cut section outside to make up the main seating area and the other inside the glass wine room. The stone bar, which is porous, takes up a good portion of the front facing glass panel. Had the bar simply extended into the wine cellar and been sealed off at the joints, the stone would have eventually transferred in enough heat and moisture to cause condensation. Proper wine cellar design and planning enabled this wine cellar to not only look fantastic, but function perfectly as well. One interesting unique feature in this Corona Del Mar, Newport Beach, Orange County, California glass and metal wine cellar is an extension of floor to ceiling frames mounted to the backside of the stone bar. This feature was made to seamlessly show consistency in floor to ceiling vintageview frames throughout. The pool has a unique configuration with walk-in access at both ends and the deep section located in the middle. One end features full-width steps while the other has a tanning shelf, both providing safe access to the adjoining shallow sections. The twin LED pool lights ensure even lighting after dark.

A quick look through the glass front door of this home allows you to see through the house to the paradise that awaits. Toll Brothers desired for this luxurious zero edge, beach entry pool to include a cabana with a spa capable of being closed-off entirely. Expert design and installation left them completely enamored with their outdoor space. The cabana was constructed at pool level, with a zero edge completely around it, requiring the footings to actually be built into the pool. It showcases a large water feature, as well as glass walls that can completely close, providing privacy for the spa. We worked alongside the contractor for the cabana while constructing the pool so that we could properly install the elements for both portions of the project. The beach entry has several colors of mosaic tile, installed by hand to create a gradient of color, as though walking from sand to deeper water. The entire front portion of the pool is a beach entry, allowing guests to walk straight from the outdoor patio into the pool. The back of the pool is a negative edge, creating an expansive, ocean-like feel to the space. The landscape was designed to coordinate perfectly with the pool, featuring a large grassy peninsula that jets into the water. Multi-trunk King Palms were craned over the house and delicately placed into the middle of this oasis. They are surrounded by artificial turf ensuring easy maintenance and a clean line along the zero edge. This luxurious, resort-style pool and spa allows ample space for lounging on the beach, relaxing in the spa and swimming in the colorful lagoon. Rosa Maiolica white cook stove in a kitchen. Note the stone hearth pad. This is an excellent location for a wood cook stove: close enough to the kitchen to serve as a secondary cooking area and on the other hand right in the middle of a large air space between the kitchen and other rooms. Wood stoves are primarily space heaters and the larger the airspace around the stove the more effective it will be.
