Valley Garden Landscapes North Manly
Valley Garden Landscapes had been referred to our clients in North Manly by their rear neighbour whose garden also appears on the projects page as “New Pool No Problem”!!.
They had recently bought the property and were keen to renovate their backyard landscaping, maximise the garden areas for their young family.
The old layout included a large wall across the middle of the garden which effectively cut the space in two and made both the lawn and pool areas feel cramped and uninviting.
The clients brief was to create an open family friendly garden with a coastal theme. The resulting garden is a great success from the renovated shed (now a beautiful pool cabana) to the large format bluestone paving, built in barbecue and restored decking.
Troughs and bowls were chosen to complement the paving and planted up with low maintenance succulents. Fabulous, comfy lounge furniture has been installed to really create inviting living areas around the garden. The children can still play on the lawn area as well in the cabana which perfectly captures the last remnants of the afternoon sun.

This project was inspired by a fusion of: contemporary elements, farmhouse warmth, geometric design & overall convenience. The style is eclectic as a result. Our clients wanted something unique to them and a reflection of their style to greet them each day. With details that are custom like the hood and the ceramic tile backsplash, there are standard elements worked into the space to truly show off this couple's personal style.

Have fun with your color choices by: Tania Scardellato - TOC design
Every unforgettable living room design begins with a fabulous paint color. The right color scheme can set the tone for any space, embodying whichever mood or style you wish, whether it be elegantly traditional or edgy and modern. As you stand in front of that daunting display filled with hundreds of tiny paint swatches, each color more perfect than the next, you may be asking yourself how to choose just one shade. Selecting living room color schemes can be an easy and enjoyable process if you have fabulous inspiration and the right design tools.
A beautiful color palette will instantly transform any drab and outdated living room into a trendy contemporary den found on the pages of your favorite designer magazines. The right shade can set the tone for the entire space, embodying whichever décor concept you desire. For this reason, when searching those isles for the perfect color scheme it is very important to choose wisely, understanding the particular look and style that each hue will evoke. Every great design will begin with fabulous inspiration.. Imagine your room in a rainbow of outstanding new hues, and then select the color that best reflects your home’s personality and individual décor style.
The importance to color is repeat, Don’t use too much of the same color in large amounts and always repeat a small touch of that color in your open concept.
For This young couple we went with a neutral pallet as they desired pops of colors with their furnishings, The wall paint color acted as a canvas, and the furniture, painting and accessories as there focal point.

One of my favorite design projects also happens to be my home. With Atlanta Magazine I was able to show off this remodeled Morningside home in this thoughtful piece: http://trendmag2.trendoffset.com/publication/?i=292433#{"issue_id":292433,"page":0}

Great example of seeing the 130 White, 2"x6" Subway Tile - you can see the variation of the glaze from tile to tile.

These customers were from California and had an affinity for the Caribbean…they wanted a pool area that reminded them of their home state, reminded them of the Bahamas, and harmonized with the native Lowcountry natural environment. (Let’s see if an A.I. robot could design that!) It wasn’t a typical customer request, but the couple was happy with the results…and I was happy I was able to pull it off.
The spartina salt marsh backdrop is obviously quintessentially “Lowcountry”; I designed the pool area to represent the rocky California coast using colors that represented the various shades of white sand commonly found on the South Carolina coast. What’s more, I added palmetto trees (icons of the SC coast) and two shrubs that are commonly found on both the SC and CA coasts: a sago palm and a yaupon holly. (I wouldn’t have manicured the holly like they did, but to each their own.)
I made the pool as clear-blue as possible to represent the seawater of the Bahamas, and I tied everything together using some of the same indigenous coastal grasses that can be seen in the first photo on this page (the one which exemplifies what I think makes the Lowcountry special).
