Ulrich Designer: Julia Kleyman Photography by Peter Rymwid The design challenge in this kitchen was to combine sleek materials to make the space look modern – in fitting with the overall character of the home – and also to achieve a warm and inviting living space. Some special touches for the homeowners include the peninsula counter top that was dropped down to a more comfortable height for mixing and dough rolling. Above the peninsula a bean-shaped frosted glass snack counter sits on metal posts, creating an eating/snacking area. White porcelain tile with two chrome liners running around the perimeter create a clean backdrop for the focal point of the kitchen, a clear glass hood by Miele. A blue acrylic cabinetry finish gives the space a dash of color, while the cherry finish on the appliances side of the kitchen and on the sitting side of the peninsula makes the kitchen warm and inviting.

Maximizing the functionality of this space, and coordinating the new kitchen with the beautiful remodel completed previously by the client were the two most important aspects of this project. The existing spaces are elegantly decorated with an open plan, dark hardwood floors, and natural stone accents. The new, lighter, more open kitchen flows beautifully into the client’s existing dining room space. Satin nickel hardware blends with the stainless steel appliances and matches the satin nickel details throughout the home. The fully integrated refrigerator next to the narrow pull-out pantry cabinet, take up less visual weight than a traditional stainless steel appliance and the two combine to provide fantastic storage. The glass cabinet doors and decorative lighting beautifully highlight the client’s glassware and dishes. Perimeter cabinets refinished to an off white finish. Island refinished to a walnut woodgrain finish. Add ons include new raised side panels, crown & light rail molding, corbels & glass door. New countertops include Absolute Black Honed granite on perimeter and Super White Quartzite on Island. The backsplash is Carrara subway tile. Refrigerator surround was rebuilt with new trim on the sides and top to attach the cabinets above to give it a custom look. New crown molding to tie this area in with the surrounding perimeter cabinets.

Oversized pendant lights match the large scale of the custom kitchen island. The island features a built-in cooktop and built-in-place walnut butcher block top; open shelves made from the same walnut float above black basalt countertops and frame a farmhouse sink. Located in the heart of Victoria Park neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale, FL, this kitchen is a play between clean, transitional shaker style with the edginess of a city loft. There is a crispness brought by the White Painted cabinets and warmth brought through the addition of Natural Walnut highlights. The grey concrete floors and subway-tile clad hood and back-splash ease more industrial elements into the design. The beautiful walnut trim woodwork, striking navy blue island and sleek waterfall counter-top live in harmony with the commanding presence of professional cooking appliances. The warm and storied character of this kitchen is further reinforced by the use of unique floating shelves, which serve as display areas for treasured objects to bring a layer of history and personality to the Kitchen. A minimalist approach with white countertops and table was used throughout as a cool counterpart to the warm wood floor and cabinetry.

By moving the exterior wall to the patio out two feet, we were able to create an open kitchen/dining/living space in perfect proportion for this mid-century style home. This extra space allowed us to transform the existing galley kitchen into a U-shape with a peninsula bar. The blue base cabinets pack a punch of color, while the white uppers and backsplash create a light and airy space that looks bigger than the actual square footage.

A modern classic white kitchen with every amenity. Every detail was thought out. One wall is the beverage area with glass cabinets for storing glassware next to the built-in wine fridge, fridge, and freezer. Boxford, MA kitchen renovation designed by north of Boston kitchen design showroom Heartwood Kitchens. This kitchen includes white painted cabinetry with a glaze and dark wood island. Heartwood included a large, deep boxed out window on the window wall to brighten up the kitchen.
