This classic Connecticut home was bought by a growing family. The house was in an ideal location but needed to be expanded. Design Builders & Remodeling almost doubled the square footage of the home. Creating a new sunny and spacious master bedroom, new guestroom, laundry room, garage, kids bathroom, expanded and renovated the kitchen, family room, and playroom. The upgrades and addition is seamlessly and thoughtfully integrated to the original footprint.

A home based business operates within the space, with registered massage therapy sessions occurring on the lower level, in comfort and cleanliness atop the hydronically heated polished concrete floors.

Known as one of the industry's top toilets, the Gerber® Avalanche® is perfect for new construction or repair and remodel. The two-piece high efficiency toilet is WaterSense approved and operates at a conservative 1.28 gpf (4.8 lpf) without sacrificing performance. Its reliability and performance also stems from its top-of-the-line components - 3" flush valve, fully glazed trapway and dual siphon set to name a few. This model features an elongated bowl for additional comfort.

Not far from the Maine coastline, this renovation project showcases the power of creative reimagining. With an elevated deck in need of replacement, the clients envisioned a new space that would fill with sunshine and offer them the potential to nurture plants throughout the year. Offering full-service design and construction, Sunspace stepped in to make it happen.
The Sunspace team began by replacing the existing deck structure, creating a solid, raised, insulated foundation that would receive the greenhouse addition. A high-quality aluminum frame was chosen for its durability and sleek lines, blending with the home's existing architecture and fitting snugly into the corner of the exterior walls. The generous use of insulated glass floods the interior with natural light while maintaining a comfortable growing environment all year round.
Functionality within a small space is key in this design. Venting windows in the lower sections and operable roof vents ensure proper airflow and temperature control, essential for a thriving plant collection. The interior is thoughtfully finished with planting benches and shelving to establish an organized, inviting workspace. And with direct access from the home, a trip to the greenhouse is an effortless escape for the clients, a world of vibrant growth never further than a few steps away.

This modern homes program was influenced by CCR’s understanding of Organic Architecture as it specifically influences form and function. The conceptual layout for this owner’s program of spaces was organized to maximize the home’s use as a place to entertain folks over periods of time exceeding just a day or evening visit. It was understood that guests must feel comfortable for a weekend or more. The balance of large, open public areas and more intimately scaled, private spaces was utilized and considered a success by both the owner’s family and friends.
An additional program requirement was to use sustainable systems and practices to reduce monthly operating costs for this large home. CCR’s knowledge of passive and active systems was leveraged to find a project specific solution to maximize energy efficiency.

This installation took place in Manhasset, New York. The polished chrome rods with acrylic finials were jewely that the customer splurged for. It added such elegance to the room. Hunter Douglas Motorized Duettes were installed under the sheers. The customer can operate the shades from their ipad or iphone in addition to a remote control. The sheers softened the appearance in the room but maintained essential sunlight. Stretch sheers were installed alongside the front door for privacy.

The new home office is on the right of the building. The Primary Bedroom is beyond the two sets of operable triple windows. The new dining room is beyond the triple windows with transoms above. The existing house can be seen beyond. We used a low-pitched roof over the dining room and covered patio in order to maintain light through the existing windows of the existing house.

The graphic artist client initially considered a basement studio. Our designer thought the attic would provide an ideal space. To bring in natural light, we added four skylights in the attic—two operable for venting and two fixed. We used spray foam insulation to create a comfortable environment. The combination light and fan in the center is both beautiful and functional. The HVAC equipment is located behind a door, and there additional storage behind the knee walls. We built a seat under the dormer window where the client’s dog likes to perch.

We provided our customer who suffers with sleep problems a solution that features enhanced light control in the bedroom with Motorized Double Roller shades that switch between blackout and sheer options and completed the room darkening effect additionally with adding blackout drapery on a decorative traversing rod allowing for easy operation. The three layers of window treatments also help reduce any outside noise, as well as increasing the energy efficiency of the house which helps reduce the cost of heating and cooling the house .We solved for a tranquil quiet and dark space for good night sleep while adding a touch of warmth and design aesthetic to the space.
