Overlooking the Puget Sound, this 2,000 sf Pacific Northwest modern home effortlessly opens onto classic water views while optimizing privacy and Southern exposure with a private patio. Our clients sought a poetically minimalist and practical retirement home infused with rhythm and geometry. With dramatic roof lines and a projecting great room that define its form, the architecture’s simplicity frames its dramatic site to incredible effect while the interior playfully loops the spacious traffic patterns of this 3 bedroom 2.5 bath.

The 7,600 square-foot residence was designed for large, memorable gatherings of family and friends at the lake, as well as creating private spaces for smaller family gatherings. Keeping in dialogue with the surrounding site, a palette of natural materials and finishes was selected to provide a classic backdrop for all activities, bringing importance to the adjoining environment. In optimizing the views of the lake and developing a strategy to maximize natural ventilation, an ideal, open-concept living scheme was implemented. The kitchen, dining room, living room and screened porch are connected, allowing for the large family gatherings to take place inside, should the weather not cooperate. Two main level master suites remain private from the rest of the program; yet provide a complete sense of incorporation. Bringing the natural finishes to the interior of the residence, provided the opportunity for unique focal points that complement the stunning stone fireplace and timber trusses. Lynne and Laura took advantage of the architectural features of this tall family room in Olney, MD and designed 2 seating areas to optimize space. They selected a warm gray, teal and taupe color scheme from the bold ikat print fabric used in the stationary drapery panels. They accentuated the ceilings with a deep warm gray. A large warm gray sectional with teal pillows, and with pale gray lounge chairs provide TV watching seating. Dark wing chairs, x-base bench, and accents behind the sectional, and bright pillows and artwork throughout add liveliness.

This Cross Ready-to-Build 1 bed / 1 bath ADU is 495 SF. It has a optimal layout for a small space and maximizes indoor-outdoor living. This ADU has high ceilings, two sets of French doors (can be sliders). Their is a stacked washer dryer and extra storage in the kitchen island. This spectacular new beach kitchen was designed for an older couple with the love of the water in mind. The house is not large but the client wanted the kitchen area to be the main aspect of the design and to be comfortable and serene.The windows were optimized for the maximum view from the eat in kitchen area. The large island was designed for grandchildren to enjoy and to use for buffet dining when cooking outside. The laundry also is a “prep” kitchen that has an additional refrigerator and is where small appliances are stored on the counter to keep the main kitchen counters clutter free. The client asked for a fun seaside kitchen with a neutral backdrop of cabinetry so she could showcase her colorful accessories. We chose classic white cabinetry to complement the maple floors and selected soft white for the wall color to keep harmony with the incredible views. She wanted a no fuss kitchen with lots of counterspace for multiple cooks when her adult kids came to visit. Her husband requested a no or low maintenance countertop as well so we chose a ceasarstone top that mimics traditional carerra marble but without the associated issues with marble tops. To emphasize the beach living atmosphere, we chose a glass that has a slight frosted wave in it and then turned it sideways instead of the traditional vertical application. The knobs and handles are a mix of traditional and modern and are satin nickel to match the sink and faucet and appliances. In addition to the large laundry space, one wall is dedicated to storage and features pullout drawers and houses the microwave as well. Small details such as the open shelf under the upper cabinets to showcase colorful pottery and the wine grid help give some dimension the upper cabinetry.

Our NYC studio designed this gorgeous condo for a family of four with the goal of maximizing space in a modest amount of square footage. A custom sectional in the living room was created to accommodate the family without feeling overcrowded, while the son's bedroom features a custom Murphy bed to optimize space during the day. To fulfill the daughter's wish for fairy lighting, an entire wall of them was installed behind her bed, casting a beautiful glow at night. In the kitchen, we added plenty of cabinets below the island for maximum efficiency. Storage units were incorporated in the bedroom and living room to house the TV and showcase decorative items. Additionally, the tub in the powder room was removed to create an additional closet for much-needed storage space.

Perched on the highest point on Nantucket, this “upside down house” optimized the available water views by placing the main public rooms and master suite on the second floor and carefully framing the major view to Madaket and the islands beyond. The wrap-around porch and second floor decks cater to the owners desire to maximize opportunities to explore the property and to encounter the surrounding views.

These great cooks needed a space that allowed for entertaining and multiple work zones. Storage was optimized and is efficient with pull-outs and dividers. The kitchen has almost doubled in size and now includes two dishwashers for easy clean up. Lighting was appointed with sparkling pendants, task lighting under cabinets and even the island has a soft glow. A happy space with room to work and entertain. This luxurious kitchen remodel by our Lafayette studio is a masterpiece of modern design. The beautiful and functional space boasts sleek and stylish custom cabinetry, high-end appliances, and luxurious finishes. The island provides ample space for meal prep and entertaining. We also added plenty of storage space to optimize functionality. With its luxurious blend of form and function, this kitchen is a fabulous place for cooking and entertaining.

This Rancho Bernardo kitchen remodel was designed with a rustic theme. The stainless steel appliances provide a nice contrast with the white subway tiles. In addition, the white backsplash compliments the granite countertops. The granite countertops wraps around the u-shaped kitchen that provides ample space for food preparations. The brown, wood, and floor-to-ceiling cabinets provide a contrast to the countertops, and enhances the rustic theme. Additionally, a wall of the wood cabinets are built to optimize storage capacity in the kitchen. Overall, the kitchen remodel was designed with a simplicity in mind, and to insure there is enough space for the homeowners to enjoy their kitchen!

We were pleased to be invited to do a new Master Bedroom Closet project for a home in Albuquerque that was featured in the 2013 Parade of Homes. Perhaps you visited it during the 2013 Parade? The next 4 images are from that home. The closet was long and narrow but there was plenty of space for hanging clothes and drawer units as well as for folded clothes, shoes and other items. All this was accomplished without sacrificing elbow room in this narrow space. Views from the bathroom into the Master Closet. Another perspective of the Master Closet. The closets shown here were designed for a NE Heights home in Albuquerque. They were installed and photos were taken before any clothes or other items were added. The dark pullout in the first image is a clothes hamper. These light colored cabinets were chosen for the Master Bedroom closet to help keep the space bright and light. Note the two rows of hangars for shirts and dresses above, and pants below. The double row of drawers in this closet replaces the typical Chest of Drawers without sacrificing the extra space needed for the chest. This is a great addition to any closet. The last closet photo shows a two-door vertical storage closet on the right that is very flexible to configure. It can be outfitted to store clothes, shoes, jewelry, or other items. Also note the extra-length hangar space for formal dresses or long gowns. Not Just Closets was also contracted to do the Pantry in the above home. Please notice that the shelving wraps around the corners, providing the greatest amount of storage space. Also you will find that the spacing on the shelves was designed to allow for a large number of varying size items in the pantry. There are large shelves on the bottom since large items are usually heavy and bulky. Seldom-used items can also be stored on the top shelf. The storage shelves shown are in a large walk-in pantry, with a concommitantly large number of shelves. Dark colored cabinets were chosen for the Pantry to match the Kitchen cabinets. We were asked to design and install the closets for a house in the October 2014 Parade of Homes. The view is of an extremely large walk-in closet with upper and lower hanging bars, tall hanging areas, and a huge amount of cabinet and drawer storage. The next two views portray the same closet, demonstrating the size of the closet and the many wrap around hanging areas, shelves, storage cabinets, and drawers. All four walls were filled with these features. The closet also has a pull-down ironing board, allowing for quick refreshing of creases in trousers or straightening of dresses. Not Just Closets also does commercial installations, as evidenced by the corporate office kitchen and file storage solutions shown here. This photo is of a work center island incorporating file storage. Not shown is another large set of shelves for bulk storage. The back side of the work center also has cabinets for storage. This is a view of the Break Center at the corporate office. The counter, sink and upper and lower cabinets were all designed and installed by Not Just Closets. Photo A - Shown is a corner shelf unit for a child's closet in a 2015 Parade of Homes residence. The corner unit stores many toys in a neat, orderly fashion. Photo B - Hanging space above drawers illustrates the versatility of our units. Every inch of space is utilized in this Master Bedroom Closet in the 2015 Parade of Homes residence. Roll-out shelves offer convenience and easy access to a pantry in the 2015 Parade of Homes kitchen. This customer said - "Total 100% customer satisfaction. I love it! It is the crown jewel of the room. Every woman who has seen it has mentioned they are jealous of it all". We agree. This closet was custom-designed for blueprint storage for an architect. Master Bedroom closet units offer a variety of ways to hang and store clothes. Above the double hang and drawer unit are wardrobe lifts (not shown at the top of this photograph) to store seasonal clothes. A small bedroom closet can be made more useful with the right combination of hangs (hanging racks) and shelving. An entry closet with double hangs and a convenient bench for removing and storing shoes. This is a Master Bedroom Closet with adjustable shelves to organize and optimize the storage needs of the customer. The large nest of small drawers just exudes an aura of organization, and the shoe storage is adjusted to hold different sizes of boots and shoes.

To optimize the views of the lake and maximize natural ventilation this 8,600 square-foot woodland oasis accomplishes just that and more. A selection of local materials of varying scales for the exterior and interior finishes, complements the surrounding environment and boast a welcoming setting for all to enjoy. A perfect combination of skirl siding and hand dipped shingles unites the exterior palette and allows for the interior finishes of aged pine paneling and douglas fir trim to define the space. This residence, houses a main-level master suite, a guest suite, and two upper-level bedrooms. An open-concept scheme creates a kitchen, dining room, living room and screened porch perfect for large family gatherings at the lake. Whether you want to enjoy the beautiful lake views from the expansive deck or curled up next to the natural stone fireplace, this stunning lodge offers a wide variety of spatial experiences.
