I had some specific requests when I hired Springer Architects to design me a house on 5 acres of forest land on Salt Spring Island. I was 80 years old at the time so it was to be a retirement home for me and a place for my small collection of contemporary art, all built within a structure of minimal design and on a restricted budget. They satisfied all these requirements, beautifully. The house has a small footprint on one level with hallways and bathrooms made to accommodate a wheelchair, if necessary. There are 3 zones for living: entertaining, sleeping and studying, that suit my lifestyle to a T. The house is perfectly situated on the site creating sun-filled rooms with high ceilings and large windows that maximize the views onto the surrounding rocks and forest. It's a dream house for me! Although the firm was on the East coast and the house on the West coast, there was easy communication by phone and internet with the contractor. They developed a good working relationship and if any problem arose, I would often see the contractor take out his cell phone and call the architect to deal with the situation, on the spot. With easy accessibility and a positive attitude on both sides this made the whole process of building my home a very exciting and creative experience for me.

We hired Springer Architects for two projects. First a new construction on Cape Cod and later a condo renovation in Boston. Could not be happier with both projects. Marcus listened to our goals, understood our design aesthetic, and gave us finished products that met those ideals, plus some. Creative, responsive, and easy to work with, a winning combination!

Springer Architects redesigned the interior of our home in Cape Cod and we are very happy with the outcome. Marcus Springer was great to work with; he was a good listener and had thoughtful solutions to modernize the house, in particular, the master bath and the staircase. New cabinets and other finishing materials were carefully selected to be attractive as well as cost effective. As the project progressed, additional details were added and we were notified of budget changes in a timely fashion.
