The design intent was to create an English garden patio mimicking the Edwardian flavor of the home. Slate decking and redwood trellises focus the design inward towards the social spaces on the deck instead of outwards to a view. Concealed low voltage lighting and planters enhance the overall effect at twilight. The stained wood pillars and lattice create a scenic backdrop for a variety of uses.

Look up to a dramatic, illuminated ceiling. Look down to an equally dramatic reflected image created in wood. Vertical-grain walnut is set in a classic European chevron pattern, then accented by a curved walnut border with a wenge accent strip. Like ripples in a pond, the curves continue outward to the to walls of this high-rise entry.

A collection of 2010 through 2016 Larkmeade Cabernet Sauvignon bottles from Napa have never looked so good. In the center, a small countertop and opening are used for a practical space to open and decant wines. Horizontal stainless steel metal rods are Integrated into the custom cabinetry horizontally and angled across each multiple sections, again offering another unique and different design feature, now with wine bottle labels facing outward and completely visible. PARADISE VALLEY REMODEL: The beams were there, the window was swung outward (into former planter space) and re-used, as this remodel Family Room was connected to the former motor-home garage, (through a former storage room). Floating above a luxurious carpet of verdant green moss on a steep rocky bald, this home’s foundation touches the ground along two slim concrete fins. These lean legs in turn support a dramatic steel Vierendeel frame allowing the wings of the house to cantilever 28 feet outward in both directions. New open kitchen, dining and living area features Caesarstone countertops and a new island with combination of natural walnut lower cabinets and lacquer painted upper cabinets. Inspiration for a farmhouse living room remodel in San Francisco

The clean, minimalistic foyer pictured above is actually a brand-new addition to our Mountain Lane Show House. In the original home, residents and visitors walked directly from the entryway into the living room. In order to establish a transitional zone between the exterior and interior of the home, we extended the entryway outwards to add a porch and inwards to add a foyer.

This energy efficient home, designed for a modern family, includes a private office near the kitchen, ground floor guest bedroom suite, and spacious kitchen. The house contains nearly 5,000 square feet of living space on four levels. The outward scale is reduced by the detached garage’s varying roofline and shingle siding texture. A geothermal HVAC system along with in-flow radiant heating is utilized.

The definitive idea behind this project was to create a modest country house that was traditional in outward appearance yet minimalist from within. The harmonious scale, thick wall massing and the attention to architectural detail are reminiscent of the enduring quality and beauty of European homes built long ago. It features a custom-built Spanish Colonial- inspired house that is characterized by an L-plan, low-pitched mission clay tile roofs, exposed wood rafter tails, broad expanses of thick white-washed stucco walls with recessed-in French patio doors and casement windows; and surrounded by native California oaks, boxwood hedges, French lavender, Mexican bush sage, and rosemary that are often found in Mediterranean landscapes. An emphasis was placed on visually experiencing the weight of the exposed ceiling timbers and the thick wall massing between the light, airy spaces. A simple and elegant material palette, which consists of white plastered walls, timber beams, wide plank white oak floors, and pale travertine used for wash basins and bath tile flooring, was chosen to articulate the fine balance between clean, simple lines and Old World touches.
