The existing structure of this lake home leaned toward a mid-century remodel. Deciding what to emphasize and what to alter was the key to transporting this cottage back into the future. Everything was stained knotty pine and when the walls came down to open up the space we also lightened up with some paint. High lighting the existing beams and tongue and groove ceiling was worth it, but every board needed to be oiled and sealed to get this great end result.

This Master Bath recreates the character of the farmhouse while adding all the modern amenities. The slipper tub, the stone hexagon tiles, the painted wainscot, and the natural wood vanities all add texture and detail. Robert Brewster Photography

The clients' own furniture was given new life in the updated rooms. A,n area rug cocktail ottoman and cube tables were added to enhance and complete the space A mirrored wall that divided the family room from the laundry area were removed and a French replaced a single door to the back yard. A custom bar was added for entertaining
