The existing structure of this lake home leaned toward a mid-century remodel. Deciding what to emphasize and what to alter was the key to transporting this cottage back into the future. Everything was stained knotty pine and when the walls came down to open up the space we also lightened up with some paint. Reclaimed wood floors were hand chosen by the homeowner for this project...so when the shag carpet left, these beauties went in!

Inspiration for a transitional white tile black floor bathroom remodel in Philadelphia with white walls

Our goal on this project was to make the main floor of this lovely early 20th century home in a popular Vancouver neighborhood work for a growing family of four. We opened up the space, both literally and aesthetically, with windows and skylights, an efficient layout, some carefully selected furniture pieces and a soft colour palette that lends a light and playful feel to the space. Our clients can hardly believe that their once small, dark, uncomfortable main floor has become a bright, functional and beautiful space where they can now comfortably host friends and hang out as a family. The PPG Pittsburgh Paints®, 2016 Paint Color of the Year Paradise Found provides a backdrop of nature-inspired color on the ceiling. The space is balanced with wood in natural tones, while Delicate White assists in creating a more passive and soothing feel. Drawn from consumers’ increasing desire for safety & security, the minimalist elements of this design theme work together to convey calming, relaxing environments.

Using a bold Indoor/Outdoor area rug in the entrance foyer is a perfect example illustrating that you do not have to sacrifice practicality for high-design. The silver table from Z Galleries adds a touch of elegance as well as serving as a practical surface to place keys, bags, etc. Bannister, railings and stair risers painted "almost" black" and cause you to gaze up to the chandelier.
