A 1930s Spanish Revival home with custom landscaping, hardscaping, exteriors color consultation. Natural materials like terracotta, breathable linens, and vintage rugs create a layered, lived-in family home. We designed landscaping that acted as an outdoor entertaining space for multiple families which was especially needed in light of the pandemic restrixctions.

As this fun couple patiently waited through the pandemic for their newly renovated open-concept space, they dreamed of a contemporary look. We came on the scene after the last cabinet was put in place and our directive was to get all the traditional brown wood out. The large sectional was our first choice, followed by table selections that offered clean, modern lines in materials like concrete, raw wood, and resin. Dried florals in textured vases rounded out accessories, as did the bookcase styling with wood slice sculptures. Leather and light wood bar stools warm up the white kitchen, and a driftwood table paired with mod chairs creates a lovely place to dine. Custom draperies offer softness and echo the color scheme.

The owners wanted help uncovering the potential in this home and asked to have it look like a modern day castle with style cues from Ralph Lauren. We approached our task to reinvigorate this home by reconfiguring spaces, opening up walls, adding doors, staining and updating trim and woodwork, and repairing and refinishing floors. It was quite a feat during the pandemic. By adding a new railing, wood treads and risers and contrasting paint in just the right places, the feature staircase adjacent to this room became a lovely invitation to enter. We won a regional design award from Luxe Magazine in May of 2021 for this room.

This full home mid-century remodel project is in an affluent community perched on the hills known for its spectacular views of Los Angeles. Our retired clients were returning to sunny Los Angeles from South Carolina. Amidst the pandemic, they embarked on a two-year-long remodel with us - a heartfelt journey to transform their residence into a personalized sanctuary. Opting for a crisp white interior, we provided the perfect canvas to showcase the couple's legacy art pieces throughout the home. Carefully curating furnishings that complemented rather than competed with their remarkable collection. It's minimalistic and inviting. We created a space where every element resonated with their story, infusing warmth and character into their newly revitalized soulful home.

From it’s initial inception pre-pandemic, to it’s final completion this year, our small backyard house has been known by many names: The He Shed/She Shed, Garagemahal, and most recently The Red Pony. It all began in early 2019 with a trip to Goodwood in the heart of West Sussex England. The home we and rented overlooked the beautiful South Downs National Park. As we came to love about Europe, the house had a set of doors that opened on the corner onto a deck where we were able to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets without interruption. Having no corner post was so fantastic that when we began our own project for a garage/art studio, we knew we had to figure out a way to engineer it into our plans. It was well worth the long wait (pandemic related), but come late winter of 2021 our installer showed up and fitted the door in just 2 days. A true craftsman! Our house was built 70 years ago by a camellia enthusiast, Dr. J.M. Habel. For whatever reason, nature rewarding us after a hard year of the pandemic, or the 6" of rain we got in February, but the hundreds of camellias he planted, bred, and nurtured, exploded in flowers this year and put on a dazzling show. If you are interested in camellias, Bob Black with Bennett's Creek Nursery in Smithfield, Virginia is an expert.

The "Gracie Modern Arbors" (by TerraTrellis) offer eye-catching focal points. Three installed to bring interest and needed height over a long pathway ramp with grape vines. Another frames a stairway to the hillside with a flowering Passion vine. The sloped hillsides were revamped to include low-water and low-maintenance plants that include CA natives, flowing grasses, other Mediterranean plants and several succulents.
