Most of our projects are completed in residential areas ranging from rural to suburban, but we occasionally have an opportunity to do work in the heart of a metropolitan space. This project represents one such opportunity. Sunspace Design was tasked with the construction of a gorgeous, private greenhouse in the center of Boston’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood, and we’re thrilled to show you the results.
The project required the introduction of a brick greenhouse foundation and granite cap. The structure was framed on top of this in black, powder-coated aluminum, and eventually outfitted with large glass panes. An additional ridge crest gives the Victorian structure provides an amazing silhouette.
A number of great features warrant mentioning. The project includes motorized, thermostatically controlled ridge vents and a full HVAC split system to ensure top thermal performance. The client’s ease of operation was also addressed via the installation of remote controlled shades. Smoked privacy glass in the rear of the structure offers some solitude, and a mirage window wall with accordion doors at the front of the structure blend beauty and functionality.

Located in Sultan, Washington this barn home houses miniature therapy horses below and a 1,296 square foot home above. The structure includes a full-length shed roof on one side that's been partially enclosed for additional storage space and access via a roll-up door. The barn level contains three 12'x12' horse stalls, a tack room and wash/groom bay. The paddocks are located off the side of the building with turnouts under a second shed roof. The rear of the building features a 12'x36' deck with 12'x12' timber framed cover. (Photos courtesy of Amsberry's Painting)
Amsberry's Painting stained and painted the structure using WoodScapes Solid Acrylic Stain by Sherwin Williams in order to give the barn home a finish that would last 8-10 years, per the client's request. The doors were painted with Pro Industrial High-Performance Acrylic, also by Sherwin Williams, and the cedar soffits and tresses were clear coated and stained with Helmsmen Waterbased Satin and Preserva Timber Oil

The homeowner requested MHG Greens&Gardens to “spruce up” their well kept, but overgrown and monotonous garden.
Both, the front and the backyard areas have excellent possibilities for their youngest daughter’s December wedding photo shooting, but they need to be brought into time.
The garden was once the family meeting place, with the endless swimming pool parties, the weekend BBQ’s at the gazebo, but the children left for college, and…
The challenge was to perk up this once a family garden kingdom, it wasn’t going to be an easy road to revitalization. There were thousands of family memories on each corner of this garden.
We drew a plan, first we started in those areas that need to be worked on and that would make a difference, such as the side garden next to the cover patio.
This specific area had several add on throw the years, and they were not too attractive, but extremely need. The home owner had added up to date utilities, solar power equipment and other modern technology necessary. Our challenge was to hide or cover all of them from the human eyes.
We designed a live wall with Firebush, a semi-woody shrub with bright red flowers that attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Rain Joe or ‘Sunshine’ Ligustrums were set in the front of the firebush hedge, because they perform well in full sun and are ideal as a low-growing hedge and fast-growing in the landscape.
To add additional interest, we used two boulders and garlanded them with 'Born of Fire' Bromeliads. The plants were bordered with red mulch and zoysia grass.
The gazebo had turn into the temporary storage space. All the outdoor kitchen equipment in the gazebo has been updated and the walkways were festooned.
The existing palms on each gazebo walkways, a native coconut palm tree and a fox tail palm tree were surrounded with zoysia grass, ferns, caladiums, cordylines, and several old Spanish urns, family treasures found hidden in the garden, were creatively placed.
The swimming pool’s back wall area was bejeweled with cordylines, Podocarpus conifers and Poinsettias.
The swimming pool’s water feature and its three tiers of planters were adorned with Crineon (Festival Burgundy Cordyline/ Cordyline x 'JURred') a glossy, exceptionally dark, rich red-burgundy leaves that are spectacular during December (during the weeding days) with its light pink and white blooms and hedged by Café de la India shrubs (Rubiaceae flowering hedge).
The top tier, the crown of the garden was decked with three species of Sansevieria. As I have heard from my childhood years, these plants are commonly known as cow tongue or mother-in-law’s tongue, but I also heard that they were used to attract good luck to the household and ward off evil spirits.
“Without a doubt, that there will be classic and elegant weddings pictures at our spruced up tropical garden” said the father of the bride to MHG Greens&Gardens.

Steel bi-fold glass doors made for a patio home renovation project in Moorpark, California. This type of door is also called a folding door, which is a great addition to your architectural projects. Rhino doors are made in North America with low-profile steel frames that give that sleek look but strong and durable performance.

A quiet moment in the living room / great room - the classic chair adds flexibility for additional seating when needed for family gatherings, but looks great on it's own. The custom draperies are trimmed with a textured accent to add a design detail and elevate the look of the linen draperies.

THE WARMTH OF HOME
This project was a comprehensive renovation and addition of a new pool house and outdoor entertainment spaces. In keeping with the home's sustainable ethos, new vertical siding manufactured from upcycled rice hulls was selected to complement stained cedar shingles and painted siding. The distinctive stainless steel shingle cladding remained in excellent condition and was carefully preserved. The result is an exterior that feels renewed without compromising the architectural character that defined the original home.
Inside, the home was fully reimagined to better support the modern rhythms of family life and frequent entertaining. The interior was taken back to the studs, allowing the floor plan to be thoughtfully reorganized to improve openness, circulation, and visual connections between spaces. Every interior finish was replaced, including custom cabinetry, lighting, and architectural detailing. The interiors are now warm and inviting, highlighted by quality craftsmanship throughout.
Rather than replacing this exceptional home, this project demonstrates how thoughtful renovation can preserve significant architecture while enhancing its performance and livability. The reimagined interiors are calm, warm, and inviting, creating spaces that encourage gathering, support everyday family life, and reinforce the enduring comfort and sense of home that great residential architecture can provide.

This open airy condo overlooking Kempenfelt Bay in Barrie, captures the essence of easy living by combining a harmonious balance of warmth & comfort in a sophisticated contemporary style. Its owners delight in calling it home.
We began this renovation project with a redesign of the interior footprint to permit more efficient use of space and effortless movement throughout. From tear out to completion, the usual challenges of steel stud & concrete construction and special condo bylaw requirements were easily handled by our team of certified professionals.
The creative use of millwork beams provided hidden channels to conceal electrical wiring and thus permit the addition of ceiling lighting where there had previously been none – a much needed design element for our clients who are avid readers and enjoy their art collection.
All surface materials were chosen to provide high performance and low maintenance as well as delivering a WOW factor aesthetic. This includes the engineered hardwood flooring throughout; the porcelain tile flooring in the three bathrooms and two shower enclosures; granite counters in the kitchen, bathrooms and office credenza; all cabinetry materials; as well as the fabrics on upholstered furniture and area rugs. The right products in the right places for the right reasons!!
Our furniture and cabinetry designs include the creative use of decorative glass; stainless steel; natural stone and custom wood and innovative laminate finishes. Soft draperies frame the large picture windows subtly drawing attention to the wonderful waterfront views in seamless fashion. Our attention to detail built on a foundation of good design and integration of quality well-chosen materials is truly a reflection of our client’s chic and balanced sense of style and commitment to live with uncluttered easy but comfortable elegance.

This 1946 cape cod style home cloistered a kitchen that was in need of a full makeover! The homeowner requested modernization, additional lighting, updated appliances, durable/cleanable surfaces for a bright, clean and fresh look. Functional layout, counter-space and storage were desperately lacking. Classic subway tile extends up to the ceiling and adds shine and cleanability. Hand made decorative glazed lotus tiles, juxtaposed with modern stainless steel finishes, created a focal point above the stove and drove the color scheme. Accents in the gorgeous custom window valances and grout, echo subtle hints of soft gray throughout. Gray veined quartz countertop and composite sink are durable and stylish. Adding matte black hardware and light fixtures infused pops of contrast to an almost all white palette. Modern but classic white cabinets maximized storage by running full height. Base cabinets offered deep drawers and pull-outs, eliminating the need to bend over. A large vertical pantry provided much needed space for dry goods. The original kitchen’s heating duct/vent and existing fridge gobbled up valuable counter space and caused the stove to lack necessary clearance on either side. Relocating the vent and refrigerator created space for a functional peninsula just off the back door for an arm-load of groceries or perch for friends to enjoy the company of the chef. Tucked below the windows, a built-in bench with custom upholstered cushions in Sunbrella performance fabric, maximized seating and extra storage. The perfect oval tulip table added a modern touch to this transitional kitchen.

Wolf 24" Coffee System EC24/S - Stainless
Available at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center | uakc.com
Striking stainless steel design. Strikingly delicious drinks — espresso, cappuccino, latte, macchiato, long or short coffee, even hot water for tea. Simply touch a couple of buttons and in seconds you’ll be enjoying a professional-quality coffee drink, made your way. On top of that, the Wolf coffee system lets you easily customize the details of your drink, from temperature to strength to level of foam, to meet your personal definition of the “perfect cup.”
You’ll also enjoy how hassle-free the Wolf coffee system is to own. It needs no plumbing connections, and it steam-cleans the milk nozzle with one push of a button; milk never enters the system’s internal mechanisms.
The 24” coffee system in stainless can be installed with a 24" cup warming drawer to create an ultimate in-home coffee station, and coordinates beautifully with Wolf convection steam and microwave ovens of the same size. For ideal pairing with 30” Wolf ovens, the 24” coffee system in black (EC24/B) should be purchased and customized with any of five accessory trim kits.
DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE FEATURES
Make all your favorite coffee beverages:
What's your pleasure? Make long or short coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte, or a macchiato in seconds. Even steam or froth milk for, say, a chai latte or the kids' hot chocolate.
Coffee, made to size:
Select the size you want from four pushbutton presets, everything from a one-ounce espresso shot to a 12-ounce coffee. Unique sizes (up to 7 oz.) can be programmed and saved using the customizable "My Coffee" setting.
Strength, to your taste:
When brewing from whole bean coffee, five strength settings from extra-mild to extra-strong give you precisely the flavor you prefer at any selected size.
No plumbing needed:
Unlike units that must be connected to a water line, the Wolf coffee system can be installed anywhere without additional plumbing. The easily accessible water reservoir holds 60.9 fluid oz. (1.8 liters), enough for several drinks between refills.
Easy to clean:
Unlike coffee systems that pipe milk through the internal mechanism, the Wolf system cleans with pushbutton ease. Rinse the brew head, or clean the milk spout with a jet of steam. It's all done in seconds. The milk carafe is dishwasher safe, too.
Uses whole-bean and pre-ground coffee:
The machine holds a generous supply of whole-bean coffee — about half a pound — and grinds it automatically to make your drink. It can brew single-cups from pre-ground coffee, too, so you can have your breakfast blend even when the bean reservoir is full of espresso roast.
Adjustable built-in stainless steel burr grinder:
Thirteen grind settings allow you to customize your whole-bean coffee for the taste and body you prefer.
Make it a double:
For two identical coffees, just press the Double Coffee button and position a cup under each of the two spouts. Or select Double Coffee and place your mug under the spouts to make a double-size coffee for one.
Removable milk carafe for freshness and convenience:
The dishwasher-safe carafe plugs into the machine to make milk drinks, then can go right in the refrigerator to keep milk fresh. Milk is steamed and frothed without passing through the system's internal components. That makes cleaning infinitely easier.
Hot water on demand — tea, anyone?
Tea, hot chocolate, oatmeal, you name it. The system can deliver up to 14 ounces of hot water with the push of a button. How hot? That's up to you. The temperature is adjustable.
Push-button control panel:
Brewing the drink you want at the size and with the taste you want is as easy as pressing a few buttons. The bright LCD control panel provides clear information.
Programmable start time and auto off:
Program a time for the system to turn on and warm up automatically, it will be ready to brew when you're ready to enjoy. For safety and energy efficiency, the system powers down after a set period of inactivity.
More enjoying, less cleaning:
After the system prepares a coffee drink, it ejects the compressed grounds into a container, then lets you know when the container is ready to be emptied. Meanwhile, a removable drip tray catches excess water from brewing and rinsing. Simply rinse it out just as you would your coffee cup.
Built into cabinetry, works like a drawer:
Designed to be built seamlessly into your kitchen cabinetry, the Wolf coffee system has an ingenious feature: glide rails that enable you to slide the unit out from the wall for easy access to the whole-bean and ground coffee reservoirs. It's like opening a drawer.
Supplies are in reach but out of sight:
Pull the unit out on its glide rails to access handy integrated storage trays where you can keep bottles of flavored syrup, sugars and other supplies at the ready.
Auto-descale reminders:
Minerals from water naturally build up on heating surfaces and reduce efficiency. The Wolf coffee system is engineered to monitor this and let you know when to descale the system. Result: Your drinks always come out at the temperature you expect.
TECHNICAL FEATURES:
- Electrical Requirements: 120 V AC, 60 Hz, 15-amp dedicated circuit, grounded

- Water reservoir (fl oz): 60.9 (1.8 L)

Our client in Stuartfield, Abeerdeenshire was looking for a kitchen that balanced style with functionality. The focus was on integrating a multi-use island for cooking, food preparation, and dining. Additionally, they expressed the need for a sizable table for family dining, as well as storage units in the dining area, inclusive of a wine cooler, wall, and shelving.
We selected the Nolte Stone range with MatrixArt handleless system for a sleek look. The furniture's concrete colour provided a contemporary feel, ensuring the kitchen exuded a sense of modern sophistication.
Nolte's 25mm Concrete worktop was an obvious choice to match the furniture, accompanied by a Holm Oak breakfast bar. To uphold quality and performance, we decked out the kitchen with a full suite of NEFF appliances, ensuring longevity and efficiency in everyday use.
We incorporated a Blanco Anthracite sink, contrasting beautifully with the worksurfaces as well as a Quooker Square Fusion instant boiling water tap, making everyday tasks that much simpler.
