LOCATION: MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS The renovation of this midcentury home centers on a complete transformation of the kitchen, which reshaped how the house functions and connects to its surroundings. The original layout relied on low cabinetry that failed to take advantage of the room’s generous volume. Mandarina Studio reworked the plan to improve circulation and take full advantage of the home’s soaring height and natural light. The redesigned kitchen replaces a dated peninsula with a generously scaled island that supports both everyday use and entertaining. Cabinetry was reimagined vertically as well as horizontally, allowing storage and display to extend upward and reinforce the room’s proportions. A custom china cabinet with tall glass doors framed in blackened iron and finished in white oak adds presence and refinement. At one end of the kitchen, a dedicated bar introduces a more intimate moment. Art, layered lighting, and wall-mounted sconces give this area its own identity, offering contrast to the openness of the main kitchen while supporting entertaining. Clerestory windows introduce shifting daylight throughout the day, bringing depth and movement to the quartzite focal wall at the range. Pendant lights reference midcentury forms in a refined, contemporary way. The completed kitchen was featured on the cover of Modern Luxury Interiors. The renovation extended beyond the kitchen to include a new primary bath, a refreshed guest bath, and updated furnishings throughout the living and dining rooms. In the primary bath, marble with expressive veining is paired with a custom floating white oak vanity, balancing warmth and restraint. In the living room, a new picture window frames wooded views, while the furniture plan grounds the space. A turquoise Murano glass chandelier introduces color and artistry, adding a distinctive, personal note to the interior.

Additionally, since both clients work from home, a dedicated office space was essential. On the Main Floor, we relocated the closet at the entry, making the entrance more spacious, and the Powder Room was given an update and new fixtures. The wall between the Kitchen and Dining Room was removed, which opened up the Main Floor. Half of the space this created was used to create a much larger Kitchen with ample gathering space for our client’s large family. The new custom Kitchen boasts plenty of dark cabinetry with wood accents, and is complimented by a beautiful quartz countertop and matching black fixtures. The other half of the newly created space was transformed into a quiet, functional home office. In the new office, a wall of built-in cabinetry offers useful storage for both work and hobby items, creating the perfect space for both work and crafting. On the Second Floor, we expanded the Shared Bathroom by using space from the Guest Bedroom closet and the Second Floor Office. We replaced the bathtub shower combo with a spacious grand shower and added a large vanity and makeup area, giving each teenager their own dedicated personal storage space. In the Master Ensuite, we altered the entryway location, allowing for a redesigned layout that includes a large vanity and double sink, enhancing both functionality and storage. "Let There Be Light" is a complete re-imagining of a 1920's Tudor-style mansion, that garnered multiple Georgie and Ovation awards, and earned Versa Homes a trophy for Best Renovated Room of 2017. The existing estate had a dark and sombre feel. The young couple and their three children wanted a bright, liveable, kid-friendly home with modern amenities, while preserving the traditional beauty and grandeur of the house. A 3,000 square-foot unfinished basement was transformed into a wonderland of home entertainment, with a home theatre, indoor hockey rink, gymnasium, arts and crafts room, billiards room, bar and seating for dozens of guests. Felipe and the Versa team worked closely with the family to select finishes and materials that were "just right". Every room is endowed with a unique motif. This typical late 20th Century home located in Fishers, IN had a somewhat open kitchen-living area.Because their extensive home-grown gardening, canning and wine making needs weren't accommodated by the small existing kitchen/dining areas, these clients hired Residential Architect LeeConstantine to improve their situation. Constantine separated the "wine making zone" from the everyday "family kitchen zone" striving to allow the zones to "flow" between the two without isolating one from the other. A small rear addition allowed the necessary expansion needed to create the different zones as well as provide for a new walk-in food pantry closet, the various prep and cooking centers, and the opportunity and space to entertain guests there to sample their delicious "creations".In addition, Constantine provided a design offering opportunities for the expression of the clients individual personalities and tastes. This was achieved by incorporating niches for artwork, arched stained glass components highlighting the "home-grown" concept and even a dumb waiter housed within a base cabinet accommodating the transport of 5 gallon "carboys" directly to the basement wine cellar.
