Design ideas for a small contemporary backyard brick landscaping in Orange County.

Some projects just feel special from day one—and this was one of them. After months of dreaming, planning, and hardscaping, we brought this vision to life at the end of spring 2025.
This landscape blends thoughtful design, functionality, and a deep connection to nature. With 80% straight native plants, naturalistic layout, and smart water management features, it fully complies with Maryland’s Rainscapes program—an application we proudly managed and got approved for rebate on behalf of the client.
And the best part? Our client’s words say it all:
? “Sara is not just an expert in native plants—she's a true artist and visionary…”

This area of the back yard was buried under overgrown vines and plants. Starting from the top was a waterfall feature that ran down the rocks into a Koi pond. We reworked all the rocks and build three Trex platforms. The top for a couple chase lounges, the middle for an additional eating area, and the bottom where we replaced the Koi pond with a Jacuzzi. We installed a Japanese bridge over to another garden path that circles around the property.
